  1. This Saturday at Ibrox, Rangers under 21s take on National League club, Wrexham in the quarter-finals of the Tunnock's Caramel Wafer Challenge Cup. Tickets are currently on sale, and I believe a pay at the gate option will be available on the day? Of course, the huge incentive to all attending, is a free Tunnock's Caramel Wafer at the gate. Welsh opposition for Rangers are hens' teeth, I can think of only one match against Swansea for a testimonial in my life time? Others may have keener memories, or better knowledge of the club's history? Rangers Colts have already completed four rounds of the trophy, defeating Berwick Rangers, Stranraer, Ballymena United, and Solihull Moors. It's become a cosmopolitan affair since Rangers senior team defeated Peterhead 4-zip in a sell out Hampden final in 2016. Both sides of the Irish border offer a few clubs, English National League clubs, and Cymru Premiers sides; all join Scots teams from the lower three SPFL leagues. Rangers Colts have already journeyed the British Isles, meeting two English, one Northern Irish, and a fellow Scots eleven. Wrexham are a side with a rich history, founded in 1864, eight years older than the Light Blues. They have played their entire time at the Racecourse Ground. Go back thirty years and Wrexham FC were a second tier English League Club, currently they languish fourth bottom of England's fifth tier. Their form is a long way from achieving the quarter-finals of the European Cup Winners Cup in '75-76, losing narrowly 1-2 to Anderlecht. They have lost their last three league games. The northern Welsh club have turned the corner in club ownership and administration, their owners these last three years are the Wrexham Supporters Trust. The welsh team are mainly English in their compliment of players, you have to go to their youth squad before finding a plethora of Welsh players. Included is Christian Dibble, son of Rangers nine-in-a-row Goalie, Andy 'Officer' Dibble. I noted their last round victory over St Mirren Colts, they included three/four players of their youth compliment. I do not know if that will be the case on Saturday, but you have got to think their place in the National League is the priority, they are two points above automatic relegation into the National League North. Of course, our Colts are a grouping of square jawed, chiseled cheek boned, and wizened browed fleet of foot athletes. Oh, there's also Eros Grezda. The better, or rather better known Colts are Kai Kennedy, Barjonas, Ciaran Dickson, Dapo Mebude, .... etc. Play up the Light and Speedy Blues. Really, I wish the club woulkd revert to the old name for our up and coming, 'the Swifts'. Really, a victory for the Colts would not only mean a semi-final place, but cause deep concern in the PQ Gang Hut. All the usual suspects ie DrStu', Big Dick, Tom English, Michael Stewart, Allan Preston, ..... etc have taken every opportunity to deride the competition since it became cosmopolitan. They hate the idea that a non Scots club might win the trophy. Further, they have been heavily critical of the Colts entry too, Motherwell's under 21s reached the semis last season and they ignored the achievement. The very nature of the tie, Rangers versus the last non Scots club, Wrexham - who do you think the Gang Hut are cheering on to victory? Remember, Rangers are the wrong type of Scots. Do you think the anchor(with a silent 'w'), of Sportsound, Big Dick will comment on Rangers under 21s versus Wrexham(with a silent 'w') on Sportsound? Oh, the tension!

  2. I really don't understand this insistence from some fans to unfairly criticise our players. I've only seen Helander outpaced twice that I can remember - both by Lyndon Dykes and both because a) Dykes is pretty quick and b) Helander was having to turn from a standing start on a sticky, artificial pitch. Helander has been up against players like Berghuis, Larsson, Nsame, Margega and Ze Luis in European games as well as O'Halloran, Dykes and others domestically. None of these players are slow and few have had the better of Helander (or Goldson for that matter) when it comes to getting in behind. And I wouldn't say we play a particularly deep defensive line. Generally, attackers are quicker than defenders which is why positioning is so important for centre-halves in particular and also why teams play more defenders than opposition attackers so they can cover for each other where and when required. All things considered pace isn't the be all and end all for centre-halves so I'm surprised when folk make an issue out of it.

  3. My latest FOI. Basically BBC says they do not collect information on whether or not they report incidents to CO therefore not obliged to create data therefore their assumption is there were no referrals. Their response to my original request was quite bizarre. I have edited for brevity. No Relevant detail excluded. These do get reviewed in London and eventually they will realise all is not well at the subsidiary branch. It’s not a complex process and always appeal to get coverage in London even if it is usual dismissal. 30 September 2019 On 13 August 2019, you requested that the BBC provide the following information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (‘the Act’): “Scottish football operates a disciplinary system whereby controversial incidents not seen by an referee or assistants and relating to player discipline, can be retrospectively referred to the Scottish Football Association’s Compliance Officer. Referrals to this disciplinary process can be initiated by a variety of people and organisations. During season 2018-2019 how many times did BBC Scotland refer incidents occurring in the SPFL or SFA competitions to the SFA Compliance Officer? Which incidents involving which players from which clubs were referred by BBC employees or BBC staff whether in interim, permanent or consultative roles such as ‘football pundits.” On 11 September 2019, the BBC responded that: “We can confirm that neither BBC Scotland nor BBC staff submit disciplinary reports to the Scottish Football Association’s Compliance Officer.” On 11 September 2019, you sought internal review of the BBC’s decision. In particular, you said that: “I note that you have not responded to the actual question I asked, which was simply which “incidents” have been referred to the SFA Compliance Officer by the BBC staff or those employed in an official BBC capacity (interim or permanent). The answer you gave me was that no “Disciplinary Reports” were submitted. That response does not make contextual sense in terms of the question I asked. I did not imagine the BBC submitted “Disciplinary Reports” (whatever they may be). I am asking whether or not “incidents occurring” in football matches are referred by the BBC or its employees (permanent or interim) to the Compliance Officer and if so in what context have those referrals been made and which players and teams were the subject of those referrals in season 2018/19. I am appealing against your initial rebuttal of my request as it appears your response is out of context with the actual question I asked and does not allay my concerns that BBC staff in Scotland are interfering or involving themselves with the disciplinary process in Scottish football. In fact the response looks misleading and designed to confuse due to the alteration of context..” The issue for review The issue for review is whether the BBC handled your request in accordance with its obligations and duties under the FOI Act. In particular, as required by sections 1(1)(a) and (b), did the BBC confirm or deny that it holds the requested information and, if held, have that information communicated to you. Decision I am satisfied that the BBC complied with its obligations under the FOI Act in handling your request. The reasons for my decision are set out below. Reasons for decision The FOI Act provides a general right of access to recorded information that is held by a public authority at the time that a request is received. A public authority is not required to create new information to respond to a request. I have reviewed the file for the BBC’s initial response. I can confirm that neither the BBC nor BBC personnel have referred any incidents to the Scottish Football Association’s Compliance Officer. I am satisfied that the information you have requested is not held by the BBC. I am therefore satisfied that the BBC complied with its obligations under section 1(1)(a) of the FOI Act.

  4. As an aside, I'd like to reiterate that I don't want individual names and associated allegations being made on here. Yes, there are a number of people who may have played a part in what happened to Rangers over a number of years but, rest assured, if there was proof of nefarious activity then it would be most obvious by now.

  5. Yeah, it was done to death around the time that John Brown was shouting about "show me the deeds". His own agent confirmed that he had seen all the title deeds for the stadium, the land around it and Auchenhowie….and the Albion as well..

  7. Speed in a straight forward race is different from speed in a football match, during a game any player can be beaten with speed due to the simple fact of changing direction, how the ball falls, a wee bit of luck...………………………, Goldson isn't slow! Helander isn't slow! in fact our whole game play is set on speed

  11. My final response to them below. Thank you. I will not appeal to the Information Commissioner. I note with respect that you are unable to confirm or deny whether or not the Compliance Officer has been contacted by the BBC Scotland sports team based on data analysis as you do not collect data, but rather you assert faith in the impartiality of BBC Scotland. Not quite the same thing and please note BBC Scotland have had to make several formal apologies to Rangers FC in respect of inaccurate editing and unequal or unfair reporting. Yours sincerely.

  12. We'd only be buying it, and the courts would only allow it to come out of the liquidation process, if all debts were settled, or about to be settled. If it ends up that there's not enough in the pot then it'll go under. I's say that there's very little chance that we'd get it back.

  13. This is ridiculous. I'll ask the question again - what does slow mean? Is it 1m/s ... 2m/s ... 3m/s ... or what? Or is it defined in terms of acceleration - if so, what is the threshold between slow and fast? Who has actually been measuring these factors and what apparatus did you use to do it? Or is "slow" merely something baseless we say when we want to be critical of a player? Why don't we just stick to the time-honoured "he's shite"? At least that had the merit of being a purely subjective and dimensionless expression and would avoid the pretence of actual knowledge.

  14. Today on the Media Review forty-five minutes, DrStu' ended with a critique on the BBC. He stated the part of the UK with the fewest paying the License Fee per head of population, was Scotland. Of course, DrStu' blamed the non payment on those involved in the Scottish independence movement NOT receiving the self confident BBC they deserve. RANK HYPOCRISY from the worst offender in spending a decade referring to Rangers and Rangers supporters as, 'H-u-ns' on his co-hosted show, 'Off the Ball'. What other grouping are both marginalised and demonised in such a way?

  15. Football forums aren't real life, thankfully. Most Hearts fans I speak to think Jambos Kickback is full of lunatics. And Hibs fans don't foam at the mouth at the mere mention of Rangers.

  17. 2-0 up with 25 minutes to go. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it's the first time they've ever qualified? I've watched them a few times and Kamara looks a key player for them.

  19. As I see things:- There were 72 EBT’s with a total value of £48m between 2001-09 HMRC sent a tax demand for £24m which was appealed. Then HMRC added a £50m penalty. seems to me it is this £50m penalty that Oldco liquidators BDO are now questioning. if they’re successful then it surely means HMRC wouldn’t have been able to block the CVA.

  24. The updated report will be the reveal. But, even then, I'm unconvinced the newco can do anything other than note it. Sure, individuals such as David Murray, Dave King and, even Craig Whyte, may have more to say but I suspect the only people to benefit from any claim revision will be oldco creditors.

  27. I said at the time, the Saga that we were embroiled within would have huge repercussions and be the thing of case studies, court battles and (various types of) media wars... in all manner of areas. Regards the court battles, the travesty IMO are those that never materialised. It gave a very public glimpse into a dark and complicated world where the public tend to end up paying the price and the dodgy geezers often make hay.

  31. The scenario you posted.....If Porto win their 2 games, we beat Feyenoord and lose to YB, will it not come down to goal difference between us, Porto and YB so we could still get knocked out? Would see the table... Porto 10 YB 10 Rangers 10 The tie would be resolved on points won i games between clubs tied (criteria A) Porto 7 YB 6 Rangers 4

  32. Clearly last night's exclusive from The Times is a very big story, even if there's not much meat to the bones at this stage. Because of the figures HMRC claimed (and disputed at the creditor's meeting), they were able to force the oldco into liquidation as the biggest creditor. All along, credible people involved have questioned the whole process and what was claimed by HMRC but what is fairly clear is that: Murray was arguably forced into selling by LBG due to the fear of any potential bill. Whyte arguably stopped paying PAYE because of same and likelihood of admin. HMRC refused a CVA because of their claim. HMRC have spent millions pursuing this claim. Scores of people lost their jobs. Since admin Rangers has lost potentially hundreds of millions of pounds as Celtic had free rein to reign. I'd like to ask for some sort of enquiry but the evidence would be lost anyway.

  33. I don't think Helander's pace is an issue. I've seen him beaten once or twice in that regard but only because he was having to turn from a standing start and was up against a fairly quick player. Generally, I was quite surprised when we signed Helander - especially given the outlay - but, all things considered, he's been a good buy and has shown why he's played at a good level in his career.
