Grey Granite. A busy midweek of Euro action for four Scots clubs. Four ties equates to eight games, we all pay our license fee, the national broadcaster provides seven live commentaries. Rangers against St Josephs at Ibrox is deliberately omitted. We know why PQ fails to provide a service to elderly, infirm, isolated, .......... etc Rangers supporters. It used to be that we heard post match reaction from opposition managers at Ibrox. It was a mixture of triumphalism and grievance, dependent upon result. Last season, only one opposition manager, Aberdeen's Derek McInnes came to the phone to talk to Big Dick. Interestingly, it was after both Dandy Dons victories at the Stadium, our only two defeats at home in the entire season. On Wednesday evening, we received live coverage of Neil Lennon's post match press conference. We received selected quotes from the Sarajevo manager's appearance at same conference. Last night, Derek came to the mike, selected quotes from the Finnish teams boss, Angelo Alessio bravely met Chick Young at Rugby Park, and an exuberant Conah Quay's gaffer, Andy Morrison lapsed into his Kinlochbervie tones whilst lionising his team. Nothing from Steven Gerrard, well we expect that; but St Joseph's chief coach, Raul Procopio did speak and PQ ignored his words. He said, "The result is to be expected because we lost four nil in the first leg and Rangers are a world class team. I'm proud of my team and it's a dream come true to play at Ibrox". Compliments to Scots teams are no longer welcome at PQ? How about attendances at the four games? We were told just under 25,000 trapped at ra Stydome on Wednesday, 9,000 at Rucby Park, and Liam proudly acknowledged 175 of his fellow Dandies journeying to the Acrtic Circle. No information about the attendance at Ibrox. I believe it to be in excess of 40,000 and was the biggest crowd over the weeks Euro games? It would appear the national broadcaster no longer wants to promote the Scots game? We won't hear whether the tor in Gibraltar contains more granite than utilised to build Aberdeen. Further, we won't hear any discussion on the Scottish Co-efficient, we won't hear how many Scots international were in the Killie team humbled by singing coal men, we won't hear how the side that finished fourth last season containing four players in Big Dick's Premiership team of the year, struggled against reindeer herders and Santa's helpers, we won't hear ......................... etc That's the problem, we pay but we don't hear.4 points

Borrowing a Steve Clarkeism, 'Bye bye Killie'. Now Rangers, when they offer two stands at Rugby Park for our support, tell them to stick it up their arse.3 points

While I do appreciate that St Joes are part timers I’m still content with the manner of our victory. Killie were playing part timers with a stadium capacity of 1,500 and are out. The sheep were playing a team with a stadium capacity of 4,000 and a squad value of just 2 million pounds and labored to get through it. We won 10-0 over the 2 legs while still not fully fit and rarely getting out of second gear plus arguably haven’t even fielded the strongest 11. While it’s not a sure guide of where we are it is encouraging.2 points

As an aside, what were the white socks all about last night? We should always wear our home socks at Ibrox. Red socks I can live with but white socks are ghastly.2 points

We are not directly replacing either Kent or Candeias because we no longer play with wide forwards, we have changed formation to 4-3-2-1. In terms of the starting 11 you could say they have effectively been replaced by a centre mid and an attacking centre mid, let’s just say Aribo and Ojo. Combined with the benefits of the formation to the team as a whole it’s an upgrade and a pretty big one. As @Rousseau has said we no longer need Candeias’ defensive abilities because we no longer even play a wide forward, we have an extra man in the “middle” and defensive cover is provided from there. The formation is brilliant for Barisic and Tavernier who are turned effectively into wingbacks with loads more space.2 points

I ventured on to Killiekickback and ironically there appears to be growing support for blaming last evening's result, on the newly laid plastic pitch. Squirrel humping impacts upon your mental health.2 points

The only concern I have is that we still seem to need a half time bollocking to achieve any decent tempo.2 points

I don't think we played 4-3-3 yesterday it was more 2-5-32 points

I want the tie finished on the 25th. I want them crushed.2 points

As usual a honest reaction interview from SG, and he nailed the first half for me, we were too safe, too square, too boring. Much improved in second half with more off the ball running into spaces, more forward passes into dangerous areas, more overlapping, a really good watch in second half for what was effectively a bounce game against an amateur side. Same again the next two Thursdays please!2 points

I think our wingers have been and are generally pretty average. But we don't have a target man, in the traditional sense, so I don't think it's a huge issue. We need to break teams down on the edge of the box and Ojo and Arfield both look good at doing that. Although I think we need a more central, No.10 style, player still...but I've been saying that since we came up.1 point

We appear to be moving in the right direction even while not up to speed and not playing a steady first 11. Is that 18 goals scored and still none conceded? At this stage I don’t think we would have expected any more.1 point

Fair enough. I thought we played well when Arfield came on.1 point

My RTV quality was excellent too. I've noticed that sometimes I also have a problem and then I do use an alternative stream, but I didn't have that problem last night. While we are talking about it, I thought Lovenkrands was very entertaining and it's clear that he and Tom have a good fun relationship. Watching Rangers with fans commentating just makes it so much more enjoyable. I'm so glad I don't have to listen to the anti Rangers commentary.1 point

I was hoping the second leg was going to be moved to the Tuesday but it seems not. I'm definitely with @Rousseau on this one, crushed to a pulp in the first leg!1 point

Well, still more or less pre-season and yesterday`s side was to a large extend playing alongside one another for the first time. The final third in the first half was somewhat disjointed ... yet, I would assume that will change after a few weeks of competitive football, even with those who won't be first pick every week.1 point

If the club switched on, or even the Louden Tavern was seeking a bit of good PR; they could cut the grass, let the children play.1 point

Very true but Rangers have often struggled to do that in recent times.1 point

He won't be an option for SG but will return to Hibs or Kilmarnock level or lower end SPL. I doubt he will get near championship level in England so lower team than that.1 point

I don't think we need to rely on a single player to cover. The 4-3-2-1 is set up to allow our FBs to play high and wide. Yesterday Polster and Halliday spent most of the game on the opponents byline, because they have Aribo and Docherty to cover--the latter, I may add, was phenomenal at covering yesterday.1 point

Agree with that. I said pre-season last season that the attacking positions were the one area we were just still clearly behind Celtic and it was. Both Kent and Candeias needed replaced to take us to the next level. Combined with the formation change I think we’ve achieved that although I still think it’s not our strongest position.1 point
-
Robust approach? Has he never seen Scottish football? Going to be interesting to hear his opinion after being kicked off the park by the sheep or maybe a visit to Motherwell.1 point

Neither Candeias or Kent are good enough in my opinion. One tries hard but fails at basics and the other only turns up against Celtc.1 point

I liked his hard work but overall he is not good enough for where we want to go.1 point

Has the ability to be an impact sub for us. Having said that he did look a bit nervous tonight. I only saw parts of the game but I think Polster took his opportunity to show the fans he’s a very good back up for right back and even centre mid. Very comfortable in possession. Edmundsson has really surprised me, it’s early days but we might just have unearthed a gem there!1 point

Two up, but really should be 4 or 5. Hastie looks good but he's trying to hard and he's making mistakes with his decision making. Aribo is everywhere and just looks class. I don't think he's got into second gear yet. Pollster and Stewart are linking well and both look like they're going to compete for places. Edmundson does not look like a young player. He's huge, solid, and a great passer too. I'm really excited at how good a prospect he looks. In fact picking a centre back, pairing is going to be so tough. Maybe I'm reading him incorrectly but Morelos seemed to imply he's staying after he scored. He does something similar normally but this time it seemed more pronounced. Kamara looks a little bit too relaxed and will have to sharpen up, but oozes class when he's on it. Doc looks like he really wants a first team spot and in this showing he might just get one. This game has 8-0 written all over it. Glad that was my prediction!1 point

If Candeias leaves we’ll need to come up with some other way of covering for Tavernier’s forays forward. Because Candeias’ work rate has been missed whenever he’s been left out.1 point
