It doesn't matter if we were playing Hibs, Barcelona or Wick Academy, I think that SC final will stick in the craw of a lot of Rangers supporters for a very long time. Not because we lost but because of the way we lost and capitulation is pretty much the only description that comes to mind. Losing is part of football, what we did that day is unacceptable. A very low point.4 points

It might be wishful thinking but I was always tend to think that a successful Rangers team needs several hard grafting Scottish players, who know what it is all about and have enough quality to fit in. McCall and Ian Ferguson come to mind I look at Docherty and McCrorie and hope they can make it at Ibrox.4 points

Is Jack injured as well? With Arfield's international duty keeping him back from early season games Docherty has a chance to prove he's worth a place. It'll be interesting to see if he can take it. It's funny, but he's one of those players I really want to see succeed. For some reason you get the impression he's a grafter, a player who's trying his best to make it with us. I know that's not always enough, but I hope he does.4 points

It was memorable, undoubtedly but ultimately meaningless. Warburton was a one trick pony.2 points

I remember when I was young the transfer of Jimmy Greaves to Spurs £99,999 one pound short of one hundred thousand as his new club didn't want to burden him with that price tag , they needn't have worried I've seen very few since who were as lethal as Greaves but I look at today's transfers £40 , £ ,60 , million seems to be the starting price of players most of us would have to Google to see who the heck they are , it's all gone blinking mad , mad I tell you2 points

We capitulated to a shit Hibs side in that final, which is why I don't understand anyone going on about our semi final win.2 points

I was always a big fan of McKay but he was simply too passive, too often and that's why he's struggled to feature consistently at any of his clubs in recent years. If you compare him to the likes of Kent and Candeias, arguably he's technically better than both but those players tend to show up a lot more during games - be it confidence on the ball, work-rate, attitude, tactical understanding, belief or strength; they're better options than McKay and that's a shame given the lad could have been ahead of both in our team.2 points

I have never held any grudges against Warburton. He gave us a memorable Championship winning season following an overall downer of a season the year before. Right from day one of that season he had us excited and on the edge of our seats. And of course the unforgettable and unexpected win over the yahoos in the SC semi while we won the Championship with weeks to spare. He had us playing the best football we had in some years at that time which at it's best was a joy to watch. I feel that Warburton who I think knows how to operate in that league better than he did in Scotland could do a good job at QPR given some time. Time which has become a rare commodity at the higher ends of England's top leagues but which may be granted at a club like QPR. He took unfancied Brentford to a play off place while in his first managerial position and was only in the job around 18 months before taking his second managerial position at Rangers. QPR might be bracketed as a club who probably have a current main objective no greater than 1, staying in that league, and 2, give us a little excitement. Show potential to be at least in touching distance of a play off spot. I think given some time he's well capable of that and with enough time may even take that final step to the promised land. of the EPL. To my knowledge Warburton has never said anything disparaging about Rangers despite the fact he clearly had some dispute with the board. So do other ex club employees right now and they're being more vocal about it than Warburton has been yet they're not attracting the same spite Warburton sometimes does. We can't expect club employees and especially non Scots who didn't grow up following the club to have the same attachment to it that we do. There have been players who grew up supporting the club as fervently as we do then realised the dream of playing for the club but still voluntarily left for more lucrative pastures just like Warburton did and don't attract spite for it. Trying to get a higher paying job is a major objective of every adult beyond a certain age and especially so in a job that has a relatively very short career span in which to earn as much as possible. We can't fairly criticise anyone doing what most of us likely would in the same circumstances. I wish Warburton and his gathering ex Rangers contingent at QPR all the best for the season ahead.2 points

He pulled up at the end of the Mansfield game , probably just a precaution2 points

3-0 now. Tuesday it is. Early KO as well, no doubt.1 point

Hell of a gamble when you consider how much money is at stake at a club like Chelsea.1 point

The Hibs side contained McGregor, Hanlon, Gray, McGeough, McGinn, Stokes and Cummings whereas the Rangers side included Kiernan, Wilson, Zelalam, Holt and Miller. The composition of the two teams I would argue does not merit the suggestion that in comparison with the Rangers lineup Hibs were a shit side.1 point

Watched the Eng v USA SF and the first half hour was fairly decent. Some slick short one-touch passing in midfield by both teams, quick counter-attacks, decent delivery into the boxes and some good finishes as it went to 2-1 USA. However after 30 mins it fell apart and became pretty poor stuff. The second half was of a poor quality, plenty of tension and drama but no real football quality on show. It is a million miles away from being of a similar standard to a mens game.1 point

So many talented wingers show the same flaws. I wonder how the likes of Davie Cooper would get on today? He had it all but could also frustrate and go missing in so many of his games for Rangers.1 point

If Fod and Alnwick both leave I guess that will only leave us with Firth as backup to McGregor - assuming McRorie goes out on loan. Could be a bit thin.1 point

Maybe we transfer any debate on MW and his and his players merits to another thread? ? Lafferty and Hardie linked away, some rumour-mongering regarding Dorrans, Grezda, Fod and Alnwick. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/kyle-laffertys-rangers-exit-edges-17373041 It is notable that neither Foderingham nor Alnwick featured vs. TNS. Morelos was injured.1 point

I imagine UEFA has little or no interest in teams who play in this stage of its tournaments, other than allowing it to maintain its pretence as a continental authority.1 point

Agreed, I'm keen to see if Docherty has improved his game after his year down at Shrewsbury. He's a grafter, that we know but a ball winner is only any real use if he doesn't tend to give the ball back to the opposition. For me, that was his biggest problem. Gerrard wants players who'll break up opposition play and be able to quickly transform a situation into a counter attack, eg. Aribo.1 point

How many teams from Gibraltar are actually in Europe? It has a population of 35k. It's ridiculous that travelling fans get less than a week's notice prior to an away Euro tie.1 point

I see him as the opposite of Kent in many ways. He has all the technique in the world, great passing ability and vision. Kent has none of that but everything McKay lacks, work rate and explosive pace. I’ve often used McKay as an example when explaining why I don’t like Kent, I much prefer a technical player who produces (and can pass) even if he doesn’t look interested sometimes.1 point

I think the team let him down. I still recall the video of the chances he created; numerous gilt-edged chances, that no one could put away. I wonder what he'd be like with better quality around him? Defoe, Morelos would stick them away. One of the most talented players we've seen in a Ranges shirt in years, for me. I'd have him back in an instant.1 point

Yes but we will not know when we play until Thursday. If the other Gibraltar team go through then it is Tuesday and if not it will be Thursday.1 point

Loyalty to Rangers and getting into bed with Ashely and Newcastlte who are direct enemies of his beloved Liverpool are all part of an equation that I would say will keep Gerrard at Ibrox. Gerrard will not be super-loyal to Rangers but is smart enough to choose his stepping stones. I severely doubt Newcastle will be one of them.1 point
