Here's a snippet from the BBC article about the Brazilian striker... Brazil forward Marta wants to use her record-breaking status to "push for more equality and women's empowerment". The 33-year-old scored her 17th World Cup goal in a 1-0 win over Italy on Tuesday to become the all-time leading scorer at men's or women's finals. "The feeling is a joyful one, not only for breaking the record but for being able to represent women in doing so," she told BBC Sport. Brazil's win puts them through to the knockout stages in France. Marta's second-half penalty moved her ahead of Germany striker Miroslav Klose, who scored 16 goals. "All the teams here, we are all representing [women]. Let me be clear, this is not only in sport."We are trying to represent women and show how women can play any type of role," she said. There you go. That sums up modern (third wave) feminism to a tee. A woman scoring a few goals at a world cup is suddenly going to empower all women and bring about worldwide gender equality. Bollocks!3 points

Stewart's a forward that plays off a striker, but can also play right- or left-wing. Aribo, for me, plays one line further back; he's a box-to-box midfielder. In our current formation, Stewart would occupy one of the front three positions (i.e. Arfield, Kent, Defoe), while Aribo would occupy one of the central midfield positions (i.e. Jack, Davis, Kamara). Where did you think they played?2 points

The Girl in the Picture. It's over a week after the event. For seventy-five minutes the Scots versus Argentina was a most uplifting experience. We succumbed to a 3-3 draw because of a lack of game management, exhaustion, and the international desire to remove the referee from the position as the sole arbiter of the game. In fifty-odd years of watching football, I saw something that I cannot recall seeing before. It was Erin Cuthbert's goal celebration. I have witnessed the full spectrum, from manly firm handshakes to cartwheeling, shirt removing. hip-hop dancing choreography. I don't think I have seen the small photograph being kissed and held forth on the run? I thought this will be a story. Cuthbert is arguably our most exciting player and she is young. Her background, motivations, and ambitions will be explored and hung on the hook of that unusual goal celebration. The next day, whilst perusing another Rangers fans' website, I read that Erin started at Rangers, signed as a nine/ten year old. She spent five years at the club before moving on to Glasgow City, then signed for Chelsea these last two years. The photograph being brandished was a memory of the day she signed for Rangers. Her father had snapped it, held it for a decade, and handed it to her the day before the game. The reasoning was to remind his daughter of the day her dream started. BBC Scotland's coverage of the female world cup was extensive. Chris McLaughlin was in France for the duration of Scotland's participation. All three game shown live on at least two of Beeb Scotland's channels, live radio commentary too. Thus, a team of more than a dozen including Al Lamont, Stephen Thomson, Gemma Fay, Julie Fleeting, ..... etc. Other PQ employees were over on holiday, Shereen Nanjiani and her partner followed the girls from venue to venue. Throw in the preview pieces on both radio and TV, vox-pops with supporters, and constant managerial updates; the coverage was comprehensive. The opportunity is staring PQ in the face, will they pollinate a dream began at Ibrox? Last Thursday's Media Review had DrStu' lazily adopt 'the Scots had found a new way to not qualify from the group stages' line. I was surprised John Beattie accepted, "it's the hope that kills you" pysh spouted by DrStu', because Beattie's daughter, Gemma is one of our center backs. Erin Cuthbert's celebration did not receive a mention. On Saturday, Shereen Nanjiani had returned and hosted her show, the three guests were Angela Haggerty, Peter Gaughan, and Brian Beacom. Shereen gushed, praised the girls to the highest; whereas the guests were more interested in the nature of our failure. Haggerty admitted she hadn't watched the game, she followed it's progress through Kevin McKenna's twitter feed. She proved her non-viewer credentials by noting she had seen Kevin's tweet, 'and Erin Cuthbert has doubled the lead'. Cuthbert scored our third goal. At least Cuthbert got a mention, Cosgrove and Cowan did not want to patronise the women, they focused on the lack of substitutions. Their guest, Paul McNamee(Big Issue Editor) followed his fellow Irishman(Peter Gaughan) in talking around without adding comment. I thought DrStu' would be consistant, he had lionised two Kosovans playing for Switzerland two years past, because of their goal celebrations. The next show was David Currie hosting three Sellik supporters, Pat Bonner, James McFadden, and Jim Duffy. A ten minute consensus on the tragedy, followed by fifty minutes on David Turnbull, and Sellik's continuing progress. Poor Pat continues to litter conversations about Sellik with, 'we'. A third Irishman in two hours of broadcasting, are we becoming a colony? Rangers signings and preparations received several minutes conversation, Aberdeen and Killie similar. Steve Clarke remains a case for optimism because the core of the national team are Euro tried and tested Sellik players. Kieran and Callum are worth at least £50 million, the return of Leigh Griffiths is like signing a £10 million striker, ............................. etc. I think we get the message, Rangers supporters' dreams are NOT articulated; and so it continued into the other shows over the weekend. The girl holding the photograph received both coverage and acclaim, the girl in the photograph was deliberately ignored. The girl holding is a somewhat acceptable Scot, the girl in, is awkward and inconvenient. It was an exercise in dehumanisation, Rangers supporters do not dream.2 points

Im with Compo on this and im glad he stated it. Has nobody wondered what the mass blast of media coverage of womens football is all about? I just get the feeling its all more about equality agenda. its being thrown in the face. Ive no problem with womens football but dont mix it with mens etc. Half of the women arent feminine looking yet thats this trans agenda going again. I just watched the first half of Italy v Holland, first game of the WC ive watched and laughed a lot thinking if it was mens errors they would have been subbed. Look each to their own but when I see clubs advertising their next season kit with a women player and mens player I wish it would seperate. I love tennis both sexes and its seperate. How long before a mixed sexes game / squad???1 point

Borrowed from FF. The Reds legend was able to fully enjoy the Anfield side's 2-0 win over Tottenham and wants the big stage for the Ibrox side. Steven Gerrard celebrated in the stands at the Wanda Metropolitano as Liverpool lifted their sixth Champions League title in Madrid. Amidst the jubilation, he took a moment to watch the thousands of Reds fans behind the goal go crazy as Jordan Henderson lifted the European Cup aloft. Then he saw Anfield boss Jurgen Klopp in tears, as he embraced every one of his players and staff on the pitch after the 2-0 victory over Spurs. And suddenly, the Liverpool legend’s mind was back at Ibrox. Gerrard was used to that winning feeling as a player. Apart from the Premier League, he lifted every club trophy available to him. And despite savouring it again as a supporter last month in Spain, he wants to feel it for real as a manager. Seeing the Liverpool fans in a state of ecstasy made him even more determined to give Rangers supporters those same emotions. He knows how important winning silverware is to the Light Blues, who have now gone eight years without a major trophy. Liverpool’s big night in Madrid was the highlight of Gerrard’s summer. But now he’s back at it with Gers, trying to produce a squad capable of ensuring there are similar celebrations in Govan next May. As he reflected on Liverpool’s Champions League victory, he said: “I loved the night in Madrid for the final. “It was the first time I’ve had the opportunity to do it as a fan. I got the invite from Liverpool and it was brilliant. “It was deserved after the season that Liverpool had and going so close in the Premier League. It was fantastic for everyone and I’ve still got mates in that team. “I have built a bit of a relationship with Jurgen as well and after going so close to the sixth the time before, I was delighted for him. It was a great experience. “Being there and seeing it, I looked at the Liverpool fans. “Emotionally it brought back a lot of memories of my own from being a Liverpool player. “I was thinking ‘OK, I would love that to be us at Rangers’. “I would love to be watching my players celebrate. I was looking at Jurgen, looking at his players celebrate and I would love nothing better than to do that in 12 months time. “Or sooner if we get the opportunity in a few months time with the League Cup.” Gerrard was the last Liverpool skipper to lift the Champions League back in 2005 after the remarkable comeback in Istanbul against AC Milan. He played alongside the England midfielder Henderson before hanging up his boots at Anfield and helped him settle on Merseyside after his move from Sunderland. Gerrard was as emotional as anyone seeing Henderson and his dad Brian – who fought cancer – cry in each other’s arms at the final whistle. And for Klopp, the Rangers boss was delighted because since he has become gaffer at Ibrox, the German has been a regular source of help and knowledge. Gerrard said: “How could I possibly be jealous of Jordan lifting the trophy? He’s my mate. “I am tight with Jordan and we played together for many years with Liverpool and England. I was delighted for him and it was so deserved, there is no better professional than Jordan. “You get out of this game what you put in, so if you go on that trade of thought then he certainly deserves it. “I know his dad Brian quite well, along with his mum. “They asked me to keep an eye on him when he first rolled up and came into Anfield from Sunderland as a young boy. “He has got great parents that support him and I know they have had family issues over the last year or so. “So it was fantastic for their family, I was absolutely delighted for them. “As for Jurgen, as a young manager you try and be a sponge from all the top bosses when you watch them on the sidelines, watch them do interviews or you actually meet them. “It’s no different with Jurgen for me. “You try to take in all of the good things from them. He has been very helpful to me since I started out in coaching and moved to Rangers. “A lot of the stuff I will keep private, but any questions I have or bits of advice I need, he always helps me out.” Gerrard’s main focus now, of course, is winning trophies at Ibrox. And he knows he won’t be able to do it without the backing of the Rangers support, who are every bit as passionate about their team as Liverpool fans are with theirs. Last week, it was announced the club have sold a record number of 46,000 season tickets for the coming season – and that’s despite failing to win anything major for the best part of a decade. Gerrard isn’t surprised by the level of dedication – and says it’s why he now adores the club he works for. He said: “It’s no surprise that we’ve sold a record number of season tickets. “I’ve been amongst the fans before I took the job – so I knew the passion and desire. “That’s a massive part of why I love Rangers now. To be breaking records like that is a real compliment to me, the players and the staff. “The supporters clearly see what we’re trying to do, see the progress we’re making and they enjoy the way we’re playing. They’re as upbeat as we are.” Like Reply Report1 point

He’s basically ideal for he 4-3-2-1. Can play the 4-3-3 but you won’t get anything like the best of him. I’d suggest with the depth we have on the wings he won’t play in the 4-3-3 tbh.1 point

Scott, As time progressed after Cuthbert's celebration, I got quite exercised by the continuing lack of comment. You can see PQ's problem, however they frame it, it is a Rangers positive. Erin says warm and fuzzy things about her childhood, her relationship with her father, and the backdrop is Rangers at a time of club turmoil. Remember, DrStu' was at pains during the same period to tell us that Rangers would make it back to the Premiership, but would play most games in front of 8,,000 fans. The rational being the vast majority of Bears are attracted by a SUCCESSFUL Rangers. Further, he knew Rangers supporters who had been season ticket holders and no longer attended because Rangers are a different club. The girl in the picture is a problem for PQ and in the spirit of Espanyolification, is ignored. Similarly, earlier this week, Rangers released record season ticket sales, in excess of 47,500. BBC Scotland's football website, Ceefax, TV and Radio broadcasts, ..................... etc; there is no mention. Only last month, all those means were telling us Scottish football was on the up reference attendances. we were reminded Hibs sold record numbers of season tickets last season, Killie have done similar this close season, Hearts are .... Again, Rangers popularity runs against the pervading narrative, thus ignored. Hence, they separated the girl in the picture from the girl holding the picture.1 point

I think he'll replace Kamara, with Kamara taking Jack's spot on the right. I don't think he's a #10 or a winger; I think he'll play deeper: Moreos Stewart - Arfield Aribo - Davis - Kamara I think this is a very good signing: Good age, profile; looks talented, skilful and athletic.1 point
