  1. Many thanks for taking part this season. I have noticed we had fewer participants this season than normal. Poor results always cause a decrease in participation, but I don't think results have been too bad--other than a bad period at the turn of the year, where we went 4-5 games on the bounce with very few points scored! There's no international tournament this summer, so this is a perfect time to have a little discussion about the state the the GPL. What I want to know is: what are we getting right with the GPL, and what are we getting wrong? Can we make any improvements? Is the point scoring still acceptable? Do you like how I break down the points scored? Is the points table clear? etc. Any feedback would be great. Finally, I'm fascinated by the stats. I have a spreadsheet with all the points picked up over the season, broken down by game, month, CR, CRG, FGS, CS etc. I thought it would be fun to pick out a few key performers -- An end-of season awards ceremony, of sorts! Most Correct Results: compo, Cooponthewing and Yorkie Bear collected 35 Correct Results, but Onevision was actually the most clinical, picking up 33 Correct Results in his 55 games played (60%). Most Correct Number of Rangers Goals: Rousseau picked up the most with 18 CRG. Most First Goal Scorer: ranger-syntax was well in front, picking up 17, which is almost 27% of the time r_s picked the correct FGS, with the rest of us were struggling to hit over 20%. Most Correct Scores: buster and Franc Ergs were joint top, with 8 Correct Scores each. Most Clinical (in converting a Correct Result into a Correct Score): No surprise buster leads with a 26% conversion rate. Bluedell, Franc Ergs and BEARGER were not too far off at around 20%. BlackSocksRedTops was actually very high at 25%, but only played 24 games. Most Full Points: Coop, buster and Franc Ergs each collected 2 full-point rounds. Most points from Europe: We played 14 games in Europe, with Lenny picking up the most with 25 points, and Franc Ergs a close second with 22. Most Points-per-game (ppg): Obviously, buster had the most at 1.62 ppg, but ranger_syntax and Coop finished with 1.43 ppg, Special Mention: Scott7 only played one game this season, but picked up the full 7 points! Clearly his skills are wasted on the amateur Premier League prediction thread.

  2. Happened to be in his company last night and naturally I done my best to quiz him about our targets etc To my surprise he isn’t back at the club according to him, not employed by us & the story he had returned was completely false & untrue Not major news but thought I’d share

  3. Isn't this where someone inserts several smileys or an "Aren't you getting tired of criticising the SNP?" comment? Or is it not so amusing or easy to defend this time?

  4. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say he's part of the problem. When elected public officials join in the coverup you know the network that left a paedophile ring free to practice covers a lot more ground than Parkhead.

  5. In a 4-3-2-1, a fit Jamie Murphy starts beside Arfield every day of the week. Murphy has real quality in the final third, evidenced by his very impressive stats in a poor Graeme Murty side. His quality makes it far easier for him to move inside. In a different set up Kent's pace is an asset, although again for me you'd get more use out of that pace if he is on the right. Get him to the byline cutting it back and his assists stats would shoot up. I actually love a player like Kent playing that kind of role, just not the cutting in from the left role because it doesn't produce.

  6. There’s always room for a little more contempt for the SNP. As soon as you think they’ve reached rock bottom, along they come with their spade and dig a little deeper still.

  7. Trying to pick holes in their decison around ticket allocation doesn't really wash. As far as they were concerned, yesterday, it was the correct decision and it worked a treat. Let them enjoy their day in the sun, we have bigger fish to fry.........

  8. Might be better with Charlie Chester.

  9. A great article from his good lady epitomising what he done for our club. I am sure the multitude of us on here and the whole fan base thank Lee for his service to our club. Thanks Lee for all you done and good luck for the future.

  10. History will remember him fondly as the captain who helped steer us back to the top flight. A great servant to the club and wish him every success in the future.

  12. Got to laugh at Scott's one-off 7 point springtime appearance then leave us mere mortals to get on with it I'd suggest a handicap of -5 points for you Rousseau, given that your sterling work probably makes you the only ever present... Seriously, if it's not broke, better not to tinker with it much. Given it's a predictor, it's probably fitting that a winner is top of the correct scores and the 3 extra points are about right. I like the FGS feature and 2 points on offer helps fuel hopes of comebacks.

  14. Can't disagree with most of that. It'll be interesting to see how we go wrt formation when we integrate new players. Hopefully we'll have players that'll allow us to adapt to situations as they develop.

  15. Did anyone see Clarke at the end of the game? He spoke on the mic to the Killie fans, but took time to turn to our stand and shout "bye bye Rangers". He was clearly playing to the crowd, but it's times like that when he shows himself up for the classless @@@@@ he his. About a minute later he obviously realised that wouldn't have gone too well as the Scotland manager so added in "oh by the way, bye bye Celtic too". It was so cringeworthy. There has never been so much dislike for us coming from Killie and I always thought we actually had a bit of affinity with their club. Clarke has changed that and I wonder if it'll ever change back now. Good riddance to him.

  16. Well the 4-3-3 was the only formation Middleton played in, bar a few minutes at Tyncastle. He'd have done well in the 4-3-2-1 imo. I value his work rate, it wins us the ball back often. Similar to Candeias. Whilst important it pales in comparison to being good at shooting or playing clever through balls in his position though. It's like a ball playing centre back who's not great in the air. Those are the attributes we've badly lacked in the tough games this season againt deep lying defences, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock especially. You need a player who excels at passing (playing clever through balls) and/or someone who can score from nowhere and finish chances consistently. The latter is a strength of Middletons, he can play poorly but if given a chance is clinical, and can score from nowhere. Barrie McKay comes to mind for the former, a very technically gifted player who was a very good passer and had great vision.

  17. It's been fascinating to see how differently Kent has been viewed by fans this season. I'd say a good two thirds love him. But then there's guys like me on the other end of scale. His style is entertaining and I think his blistering pace, bravery on the ball and work rate endears him to the fans (or blinds the fans to be a bit cynical). But right from the beginning I haven't been able to see past how few chances he creates. It's by far the most important thing about the position, putting chances on a plate for the striker. He's finished the season was only one goal and one assist more than Middleton from almost exactly three times the game time. It's pretty shocking really. For £5m I expect Jelavic quality and he certainly isn't that.

  18. Just when I think that my contempt for the SNP can't grow any further... If the SNP had ANY integrity, he should be sacked immediately.

  19. I'd have wanted all three decisions if attacking. Goldson gets a wee shove but it's enough, penalty Barasic grabs shirt, penalty Burke handles, reflex movement but deliberately, penalty

  20. Lifted from FF There was actually 126 less there today than the league game in January. https://www.footballwebpages.co.uk/kilmarnock/attendances The difference is 4000 less Bears paid that time and they sure didn't sell those 4009 seats they gave tons of them away for free.

  21. Those figures are not quite correct as I reckon they will take in £300k as opposed to £400k. However, If you reckon Bowie is a clever businessman then I’m in no position to argue. Good luck to him as he will need it. Either that or he will lose money big style. I would However suggest a £100k loss a season is 2 good players for Kilmarnock.

  22. Better for victims to keep the media narrative on the victims and their demands/requests for Celtic FC to take due responsibility.

  23. I think we’re probably on the same wavelength here Buster. However I am not aware of a compensation claim case that has been made. I’m aware of threats to take them to court but those are early positioning statements from P Maguire, Celtic refuse to open a dialogue and no court papers exist. Nothing is happening in a formal legal compensation case therefore BBC have not actually got much to report on regarding a compensation claim. They would point to their Daly work in demonstrating they were generally taking the whole business seriously. Of course Daly could do a lot more now given all the stuff crawling out the woodwork. Even Celtic admit they held an inquiry into the Boys Club but no one such as the BBC have asked to see their papers. It’s very clear BBC Scotland is not applying as much airtime or other media output to this scandal as would be expected and perhaps there are complaints to be raised there but it’s hard to see what the case would be ie specifically what part of the BBC Charter would they be falling foul of. Whether they are deliberately editing in favour of either pre trial compensation position is hard to prove and I would suggest would be a lot of effort in vain and I’m not clear how you would prove the point. Without a whistleblower it’s virtually impossible to validate. A complaint of that nature would be easy to rebut at this stage imo unless you have very clear wordings in output from the BBC (or a whistleblower).

  26. Kent passes up another chance. He does so much good, but if he can't score a goal -- at least hit the target -- then he's going nowhere.
