Duncan Stanners was a big centre half - the new Willie Woodburn. See also Willie Moles, big centre half - the new Geordie Young. Gerard knows infinitely more about football than any of us ever will and has the added advantage of seeing Davis in training and knows his current and potential fitness levels so I will trust his judgment. Younger players with a sell on value would obviously be better but younger players of that quality or potential quality won’t come cheap and probably have to be actually developed to that level. We have a board and probably a fan base strongly focused on stopping 10 iar which necessitates having that kind of experience and quality now not later.

Thing is: we do. But that does not exclude looking at veterans with cool heads and bags of experience to help us out right now.
