  1. But that ain’t the problem. We fail against Aberdeen & Kilmarnock etc. because they sit in and defend hoping to get us on the break or from dead ball. Celtc play more attacking style which suits us more. We really need someone to unlock a packed defence, not easy to get or cheap.

  2. I should not post this, it being the 1st of April. However, I am flying back from Mallorca late afternoon and prefer to hand out the plaudits before my ageing mind forgets. I watched BBC Sportscene this morning. Mikey Stewart played a blinder. He absolved Scott Brown of any wrongdoing, despite being integral to three of the game's flash points. Jonathon Sutherland mentioned Gerrard being the subject of sectarian chanting, then showed Ryan Kent palming off Broonaldo. Mikey was unequivocating, "the Compliance Officer will take action on that". The sectarian chanting aimed at both Gerrard and Jimmy Bell was NOT worthy of a Mikey monologue on strict liability, in fact he ignored it. I am positive our Justice Minister, Humza Yousef will do likewise, despite sitting in those comfy green leather seats of the north stand. Jonathon was most agitated about pitch invasions after Rangers goals at Livi' and St Johnstone; he ignored a Sellik Steward being injured in yesterday's game, due to Green Brigaders spilling over. Humza will ignore this too, he was too busy celebrating himself. Strict Liability is going to require considerable elasticity, to ensure those in green'n'grey hoops and Dandy Dons singing about Gerrard/Bell/Ibrox Disaster are not strictly liable; you cannot always rely on awkward and inconvenient evidence being lost by Humza? Finally, a BIG shout out to Big Dick. After driving back to my pied a terre, I switched on BBC Radio Scotland through my satelite connection; to hear Big Dick purring over the actions of Scott Brown. He chuckled, recalling, "he is a player enjoying himself, Scott Brown doing the Broony". Getting your kicks by proxy! Only seven months to go, but I foresee the PQ Christmas Party being regaled by all our favourite broadcasters paying necessary homage, 'a mass Broony'. Well, it's either that, or another Mikey Stewart monologue on strict liability. PS : Did anyone at PQ think Tav' should have been awarded a penalty?

  3. We can slate Morelos for having to grow up. He's a 22-year old lad with A LOT to learn, Veteran (!) Scott Brown, on the other hand, has become a sneaky vile bastard and is hailed by managers and players as the best thing that could ever happen to Scottish football. And the mhedia follows suit. What a warped world Scottish football has become.

  4. SG&Co know what the problems are and if there is a criticism, it's that they didn't or weren't able to get to the root of the problem in neither of the two transfer windows thus far, especially the January window. Breaking down an organised defence isn't always easy even when you have real quality in your side but I think the current problem with us is part psychological. When we encounter the same old teams playing the same way, we seem to accept the script has already been written. In Marvin Andrew speak, we don't believe. As well as some quality to break down a defence, we need some more drive and mentality to push it.

  5. I don't mind whether it is Morelos or someone else ... IMHO this season failed because we - like MW - didn't made Plan A better with that 4-3-3 modern day football stuff, which is not suited to 8 out of 10 Premiership games. Our strikers do create a few chances per game, but 7 out of 10 times are crowded out and no-one from midfield is following up ... like Murphy did early doors or Holt did in his first season. Likewise, the art of shooting from the edge of the area is one lost to all of our players ... only Lafferty did it every now and then and he`s hardly been seen. Tavernier can score for fun ... if he's only got the goalkeeper to beat. He was hitting goals from all angles as well as free kicks and nowadays hardly manages to keep the ball between the sticks rugby-style. We do need more quality, but we should also need a better tactical setup. I can envisage that we start trialing 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 from now till the end of the season and smash anyone before us, only to fall short because of the stuff that went on up till now.

  6. Another good piece by four lads. I agree with everything in there, except the part about Brown inciting our fans. We are grown ups and should be able to handle ourselves when faced with such a pathetic excuse for a human being. When we and the Rangers players wake each morning we are down hearted and certainly annoyed at the result of a game. Scott Brown may enjoy winning football matches and league titles, but when he wakes up in the morning, he's still just Scott Brown. He's still just a thick, ignorant, ugly, disgusting moron. I doubt anyone would swap places with him no matter how many league medals it came with.

  7. Edouard did what he had to do well. The pass put the ball into an area that gave him all the initiative. Goldson tried to clip him but he kept his balance and drove at Worrall, one way then the other. In the blink of an eye it was done. I'd give the forward the credit rather than point the finger at Worrall. The damage was done when Candeias gave the ball away, thereafter we were on the backfoot and it was their quality that got a goal from it. We have to hope that Jones, amongst others grows and improves as a player next season. I think he has the raw materials but he needs to deal with the expectation and be as consistant as a winger can be.

  8. Arsenal sitting nice in 3rd. 10 points behind Spurs in Feb but 2 ahead now. Looking at the fixtures though Spurs have a good run in. Arsenal have tough away games - Everton, Watford, Leicester and Wolves. The typical Arsenal of the last few years wouldnt pick up much more than 4 points with those.

  10. Getting a red card is one thing. Those causing it and those handing it out another. Almost triple standards in Scotland.

  11. If this had been a single piece, it would have been 'understandable', however the context behind this is a player who in this paper and elsewhere has been subject to language that is disgraceful. We are either living in a world where free speech is acceptable, and I wish that was the case, or we are not. How can this crap be published and regarded as acceptable and yet we have politicians up in arms at less offensive material?

  12. Even a draw would have kept the momentum going, at least for a while. And it would have given the Scum more food for thought - even though that would require brains.
