Dear Gonzo Thanks for getting in touch regarding our reporting on 12 March. We note your comments unhappy that a song directed at Steven Gerrard by Aberdeen fans, during Rangers v Aberdeen, wasn’t reported that evening. In choosing which issues, incidents and talking points to cover across our output each time, our teams base their decisions on the editorial merits of each, taking into account various factors. These are judgement calls rather than an exact science, and we therefore appreciate the feedback that audiences give us when they feel a newsworthy issue or incident has been overlooked. The coverage of recent issues around sectarian abuse and anti-social behaviour at Scottish football games has been fair, and by no means limited to one club. The subject of sectarian singing had been a major talking point again after abuse received by Kris Boyd and Steve Clark – and their respective public comments about that abuse. Our coverage has also recently discussed this issue in broader terms, across Scottish football, asking what, if anything, the authorities, clubs and fans can do about this issue. With regards to coverage of this particular game, unfortunately we are not broadcasting from Ibrox at present due to an ongoing dispute with Rangers, so rely on pictures and sound from our partner broadcasters. In the case of Rangers v Kilmarnock, the issue of sectarian singing was highlighted by Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke’s post-match comments. However, for the reasons outlined above, in the case of Rangers v Aberdeen on 12 March we were unaware of this issue at the time of broadcast. That said, we have subsequently reported, across our output, the Police involvement; for example: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/47576091 And on the early and late evening editions of Reporting Scotland on 14 March: “Police Scotland are to investigate reports of sectarian chanting aimed at Rangers manager Steven Gerrard by Aberdeen fans. The alleged incident came during the Pittodrie side’s Scottish Cup quarter-final replay win at Ibrox on Tuesday. Police Scotland say they "are aware of this matter and enquiries are ongoing".” We hope this is helpful, and thanks again for contacting us. Your comments have been registered on our daily audience log, an internal document made available to all our production teams and senior BBC management. Kind regards BBC Complaints Team4 points

Given the situation, anything other than concrete news on Shinnie can be disregarded. If he was fully intending on signing for Rangers or not, the latest speculation could apply. It could be seen as his agent engaging in a bit of speculative deflection to mitigate any heat from suspicious sheep, then again it might not be. Bit like Brexit, only worth tuning in once it's done.3 points

I've read comments like "it's a joke", "not fit for purpose", and "laughable" ..... but let's just call it what it really is. It's "CORRUPT".3 points

So that flick at thin air with McKenna is worth a two game ban but running your studs down a players legs is not worth looking at. I was going to say the system is a joke but it is the people in the system that are a joke.2 points

In my day they never had strikers or midfielders or wing backs or any of the fancy dan titles players get now . we had two good wingers who would recieve the ball from their inside forwards who would have had the ball passed to them from a couple of silky half backs like a Baxter or McCall the ball would find its way to a good old fashioned centre forward like a Millar , Forrest or a Colin Stein who most times they would at least make the opposition goalkeeper earn his wages . Now these days we have wing backs holding midfielders we line up in all fancy shapes like this mythical diamond that might be okay if your team has players like Messi or Ronaldo but we dont we have a bunch of ordinary footballers who at times seem to struggle to put two decent passes together so on sunday if our manager has any sense left he should play with two cwntre forwards two half backs who can slip in some through passes and play some good old one twos get two player out on the wings to get to the goal line and cut the ball back , high , low soft and whipping in balls to the centres feet all this backed up with defenders that would boot their sick granny to win the all and its three points in the bag for us piece of toffee its that easy .1 point

Back in the day the number on the player's shirt designated his position. Ergo ... 1 goalkeeper Ritchie 2 right back Shearer 3 left back Caldow 4 right half Greig 5 centre half McKinnon 6 left half Baxter 7 right winger Scott 8 inside right MacMillan 9 centre forward Millar 10 inside left Brand 11 left winger Wilson The centre half played between the right back and the left back, with one or both of the inside forwards joining the half backs in midfield. Eventually this evolved to one of the half backs( usually the RH) playing behind the centre half as a sweeper, with the other half back joining both inside forwards in midfield. This was Sir Alf Ramsey's, he managed England to their world cup in '66, preferred formation - 4_3_3.1 point

Thanks for that graph only thing is the centre full back you show was known as a centre half e.g. Ronnie McKinnon.1 point

I for one would be absolutely delighted if he were to end up at Luton. We have for far too often taken players from mediocre Scottish clubs, given them an almighty pay rise, only for them to be just as inconsistent as they were at their previous clubs when it didnt matter that much if they only had 2 good games out of 5. Having already committed to the bang average Jones from Killie, the completely bang average Shinnie is a player we can absolutely do without. Players signed from Scottish clubs seem to go missing when big games come along, producing mostly below par performances when we need it most, and to me that shows a lack of a winners bottle and mentality. There is no value in the Scottish game, tell me the last player we signed from a Scottish Club that greatly improved our quality? I cant think of any since we got back into the top flight. (may well be forgetting one or two, but none are coming into my mind automatically!) From our current squad signed from other Scottish clubs would be the likes of Kamara, Jack, and in recent seasons would include the likes of Black (shivers!)1 point

Baxter & Law’s generation didn’t ‘underachieve’ it was just harder back then. Only 16 teams qualified for the World Cup, only 4 for European Championship, no chances to run up caps & goals against yer Kazakhstan’s & San Marino as they weren’t even countries in those days.. I have no interest in these games as I don’t have Sky anymore & wont go out my way to watch them. Sad that Scotland have no top class players any more, even more worrying that no Rangers player is considered good enough for the squad. Neither side will achieve success until there are 3 or 4 regulars in both teams, in my view.1 point

A cross between a full back and a winger now called a midfielder,a number 4 or 6 as there were no squad numbers then.1 point

I am a 3.99 member of Heart and Hand but I don't really listen to many shows. I just don't have time and I prefer the present and future other than the past. Apart from the main show and the daily update I am virtually just supporting DE's wallet. It is a fantastic platform to listen to Rangers subjects though I have certainly no criticism of it1 point

WE went live with a new podcast last night. Colin Armstrong, Stevie from the FLAD website and myself talked over the latest games and discuss where we are at this moment. It was live so ignore the Brain fart that I had. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rv2PDIH9zg1 point

Alkass tournament squad was 2002's and 2003's with one 2004. https://rfcyouths.wordpress.com/2019/02/16/the-alkass-international-cup-squad/ Sunday's game was a 2004's game with two overage players (2003's) and two 2005's as subs.1 point

Perhaps you should have entitled your observations on BBC Scotland "For the Broken Record", for that is surely what it most resembles.1 point

For the Record. On Tuesday night, BBC Radio Scotland's coverage consisted of Big Dick, Wullie Miller, and Neil McCann sat in a PQ studio watching a screen. A triumphalistic Big Dick flashed his usual credentials, "eight Aberdeen players were cautioned, on another day, another referee, at another venue might have booked three or four less. Eventually, the referee cautioned three Rangers players". For the first time this season, an opposition manager was interviewed after the game, Derek McInnes damned Rangers with faint praise, "Rangers are a good team, they've spent a small fortune assembling this side". Big Dick's last two questions were concerning the outrageous eight cautions. I wonder if Steve Clarke will be interviewed post-match tomorrow? Sportscene saw Dandy Don, Jonathon Sutherland shoot the messenger. When Steven Thomson and James McFadden cued the behind the goal camera angle for the Morelos booking for diving/penalty incident involving Consedine, Sutherland's comment was, "ah, the x-ray camera". Jonathon offered no comment, moved swiftly on when Thommo and Faddy declared the incident a penalty and a red card for the Aberdeen defender. Neither Sportsound nor Sportscene mentioned the sectarian and offensive chanting emanating from the Aberdeen fans. Yesterday, BBC Radio Scotland's lunch time news had the sectarian chanting as the headline, by Five O'Clock, it had disappeared from the news lines. It appeared on BBC Scotland's Ceefax service under the headline, 'police look into sectarian singing'. I suspect other news outlets reporting the issue has forced BBC Scotland into brief box ticking mentions. Certainly, no phone-ins, media review discussions, no in depth interviews, ...... etc. Steve Clarke's sensitivity is far more important, or maybe songs about the Ibrox Disaster, Durrant, Gerrard, ..... etc do not fit the PQ agenda?1 point

Mediocrity. No Baxters, Laws, Johnstones. OK they won nothing but they were good to watch.1 point
