  1. Yesterday, I am sitting in the Dentists, waiting for one of my bi-annual check-ups, and am tempted by a pile of days old Daily Mails lying on the table. I pick the toppermost, it's a different time, last Tuesday and Brendan remains manager of ra Sellik. There are several back pages dedicated to fume and rage. Before Brendan was condemned to always a fraud status, he had strongly criticised Motherwell, Stephen Robinson, and young player, James Scott. They say a week is a long time in politics, doesn't compare with the hectic lives of ra Sellik supporting glitterati. They have all piled in, the usual suspects are in full synchronised fulmination mode. Where Brendan leads, they goosestep slavishly towards the reflected light from those whitened teeth. Growing up in a family of Liberal Party ,members, the Daily Mail was verboten. The paper's owner, Lord Rothermere was a friend of both Benito and Adolf, and most sympathetic to Oswald Mosely. It's heartening to see my conditioning confirmed, Peter Lawwell's man in print is Stephen McGowan and he enthusiastically whips the umbrage. When the diminutive leader speaks, jump into those fully segged jackboots. Andy Walker accused Motherwell of taking cheating to a different level. The incident began when James Scott played on from a throw-in after the ball had been put out of play to allow treatment for Ryan Christie. Ariyibi put the ball in the net and Brendan decreed it against the ethics of the game. Andy Walker was nonplussed, "I know that cheating happens every week in the game but this is taking it to a different level. It was extraordinary to hear such reaction from Stephen Robinson". The 'Well manager had defended his young player. Andy continued, "we've seen this once or twice in England in the last number of years in the lower leagues. I seem to remember Stevie Crawford did it for Plymouth some years ago when there was a bit of controversy in a game. Cheating has always been a part of the game, but that took it to a different level on Sunday". Here is Jimmy Nicholl's memory of a Sellik v Raith Rovers League Cup tie in August'95. The game was tied at 1-1 going into time added on at the end of extra-time, penalties were on the cards. Peter Grant was down injured, the Raith keeper put the ball out of play. Sellik took the throw-in and Pierre van Hooljdonk, instead of allowing Raith to regain possession, knocked the ball down into the corner and waived his team-mates forward. Sellik pressed forward, regained the ball and Andy Walker shot towards goal, the parried ball was netted by Simon Donnelly. Raith were out and it was Andy Walker that took cheating to a different level before it had been taken to a different level. Extraordinary! This week, we've had Chris Sutton being reminded of doing similar for Blackburn Rovers against Arsenal, we all remember the 1989 Scottish Cup final, when Aitken took our throw-in, and two touches later, Sellik had won the cup, and Paul McStay shoving a bottle up his jersey, after it had struck a Rapid player, ...... etc. It is truly amazing that Walker cannot recall taking cheating to a different level in a green'n'grey hooped horror of a jersey. Again, extraordinary!

  2. I can honestly see us cashing in on Morelos and Tavernier (if the price is right). £25 million plus would be great business for us and it's no coincidence that: 1. We have brought in a dynamic right back/midfielder (Polster) 2. Have secured Defoe on a 18 month loan 3. Have been linked with pre-contracts with a few strikers. I'd hate to see them go but considering we are still playing catch up with the mhanks, 25 million would be very handy indeed.

  3. If we can get 2 up and he is not booked I would chance it and take him off. Bring on JD and take it from there.

  4. He lives across the road from me - should I just ask him? ? Edit - I'd have Shinnie over Coulibaly any day.

  5. Agreed. We'd be getting a current Scottish Internationalist on the right side of 30 years of age for NO fee and weakening one of our rivals in the process. #No-Brainer

  6. This. I know we've got budgetary constraints but I just can't see him being better than what we've got.

  7. There will be a lot of interest but no matter how affluent, clubs don't tend to want to throw inflated fees at Scottish clubs and tend to play hardball. I think Morelos could go as far as he wants in the game if he is prepared to work hard and continue to evolve as a player but as it stands he's the best forward in the Scottish game when on his game but it hasn't happened enough when playing the better sides. He has the opportunity to change that in what remains of the season. If he wants to be getting a regular game...Currently, I reckon you are looking at a Championship side who has realistic ambition to get promoted type of level and if he shows he can perform there then another step-up would beckon and that is where the funny money would kick-in #AddOns

  8. Probably prominent to pop this back up to page one Three year bosman deal rumours are extremely strong & some worthwhile faces telling me it’s on Neither club wants it out there I’m honestly not sure But flinging it out there to discuss with you all

  9. The whole team needs to be on the A game and take some pressure off him. Lots of attacking support from midfield and wide so he’s not battling alone against their limited thugs.

  16. Agreed, Coulibaly was a kind of emergency squad recruitment player though, I had hoped we would be targeting better than him & Shinnie for next season!.

  17. @Gaffer my understanding is that it's where people can stand at their allocated area (seat) in the same way as they are allocated a seat. The areas can be converted into seating for European competitions.

  18. ST Pats FC have sold all of their tickets ahead of their Premiership clash with Rangers on March 29. Supporters have snapped up all available briefs - with home fans enjoying an increased attendance with the Light Blues receiving just 800 tickets for the away end. https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/celtic-vs-rangers-tickets-sold-14088918

  20. Sounds good but wrt valuation, I doubt it currently corresponds to the marketplace. - I think given the business model, the club need to cash-in on AM this summer - SG would much prefer business to be done earlier rather than later - Regards Money and Quantums, the European Qualifiers are our most important games of the season - If the summer is a protracted transfer story about AM, it might half-stop our season before it starts. - Replacing AM wouldn't be easy and is another challenge for the management/recruitment

  21. I can see a bit of a stalemate in the coming transfer window. A number of interested clubs but none willing to match our valuation. Hypothetical, but the danger is that Alfredo wouldn't be best pleased at not getting a move and this would show in his game at a time when we are looking to get through European qualifiers. Now, if he could play a couple of blinders and score goals (and avoid booking against Sheep) that put us into a SC Final and then win it.....the hypothetical might stretch to a club getting close enough to a valuation for the club to sell and get on with replacing him in the early part of the summer (opposed to last day in August).

  22. One of his best mates posts on FF and has always rubbished any rumours however he has been on the thread and for the first time has refused to comment. No smoke without fire.

  23. So! if Morelos gets booked in the replay against the SHEEP, which is a certainty! then he will miss the semi final...…………………………..

  24. Pete makes a very valid point. I suppose it depends on where the standing section was and the security measures in place. Given the current obsession with H&S, I doubt it would be as easy to gain access as it is in Dortmund. The Rangers board don't seem terribly keen, so it's a bit of a pointless debate.

  25. It's no big deal for the old firm matches. Those matches will always sell out. Lots of other matches could sell out but don't. Matches going out on television with empty seats all around.
