  1. This argument gets repeated over and over by those who don't want to change, but it's clearly a weak one. These songs play into our enemies hands - they give them a plausible reason to punish us that an average member of the public would support. Can you think of an example of "something else about us to get offended about" that would seem reasonable to the outside world? You could also argue that anyone with testicular fortitude would take personal responsibility for what they sing, rather than hide in a crowd and have the club and wider support share the punishment for their actions. If you feel strongly about your right to sing these songs, go stand outside Holyrood and give it laldy.

  2. Hmmmm. How about, as a compromise, we both simply respect a straight-forward request by our club chairman? If it gets to the point where sanctions are placed on the club it will eventually set fan against fan. Is that what you want? But even without sanctions, the bad publicity this stuff already brings in our direction is going to start effecting the decisions of players and coaching staff contemplating signing contracts with us - and similar is true for sponsors and investors. The result is that it's going to hamper our ability to win our title back. That's the point here. That's all I care about. Any tim spy reading your posts must be rubbing their hands together with glee. Divide the support, cause agro for the club. Don't be a mug.

  3. 2019, 14:00 by Rangers Football Club 31 RANGERS Football Club takes this opportunity to remind fans of the need to support the team in the correct manner. As the manager, Steven Gerrard, strives to provide excellence on the pitch we, the support, must also strive to protect the club and ensure that Rangers is projected in the best possible light. The majority of our supporters recognise that they are the club’s ambassadors and that unacceptable behaviour has no place in our ranks. Let’s go to Aberdeen determined to make sure that triumphs, like that wonderful 5-0 Scottish Cup replay win against Kilmarnock last week, are not downplayed because of negative headlines generated by unacceptable chants and songs. If this continues, those fans who indulge will succeed only in damaging their own club. Support the team, be louder than our opponents and drive our players forward but let’s do so in the correct manner. Let’s not give anyone a chance to criticise this great club, your club.

  4. That's true you're not. The club chairman is requesting you don't sing certain songs because it gives the shrill press and politicians an easy opportunity to leverage public opinion against us. Our enemies want you to keep singing these songs. They're seeking an opportunity to hamper the club's progress so why comply? Yes, football it is too sanitised, I agree, but that's how it is. As always, we have to deal with the reality of the situation.

  5. It really is time to ditch some of these songs and to stop swimming against the tide. No one wants to be coerced into change by people who feign offence that almost certainly doesn't exist in reality but neither are we going to move forward by indulging in what amounts to little more than self-harm. I fully understand the element of defiance involved and the one-sided condemnation we suffer but I wouldn't sing these songs and I don't particularly want my grandkids to hear, let alone sing these songs. As much as I hate the idea of bending over to our critics, I completely agree with the club's statement and any fans who can't change will have to be left behind.

  6. It’s a bit childish to describe those who support the club here the way you do. You can have all the tribalism you want but why do we need to sing anti Irish and anti RC words when we have both Irish and RC players and have for a long time? I wonder if Barisic, Katic, Morelos, Flanagan and co would prefer if we stopped singing “F*** the Pope” and “fen1an b******s”.

  7. Do you openly embrace confrontation ffs? It's not up to fans to challenge other fans regarding inappropriate singing. That will only lead to trouble and violence IMO. Or is that what you want to prove this particular point? The fans should follow the club's lead and take personel responsibility and stop damaging the club they profess to love

  8. Or perhaps we set our own standards without reference to other organisations? Yes, people will always come after us, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't ditch stuff that's been single in the past. We should be deciding what's suitable and what's not. Stuff like Tiffany, when I was Young etc is unacceptable and to accuse people of being lickspittles for thinking that just doesn't stand up.

  9. I never know if Gonzo believes it, or just says a lot of it for effect. Either way, just ignore it. As for th statement, I'm happy we are doing this as a club. The directors, management, staff, players, and the majority of the support are embarrassed by the behaviour of a mintority of our fans, and I think it will take a further generation or two before it's eliminated.

  10. Michael Stewart is actually making a very good job ... of promoting Michael Stewart and is well on the way to becoming a wealthy and successful media figure. I’m sure the fact we despise him is of no interest at all to him.

  11. Issuing statements like this has the benefit of rallying the converted but is usually ineffectual as far as people like Dornan are concerned. All they have to do is issue a counter statement denying any wrongdoing and we’re back to square one. Everything is deniable and the neutrals we need to convince assume it was all a misunderstanding. I’m afraid if we want to back these bastards into a corner and make a practical difference then we’ll need to up our game considerably.

  12. I haven't seen the programme so can't comment regards balance. When it comes to pundits, Stewart is a different animal to the custom and you could say, is a product of the times whose particular views/slants suit the #EditoriallyFair PQ almost perfectly. It (PQ) is BBC Scotland and it's natural that Scots take control of it's management. The issue is that it is a publicly funded broadcaster that should take due care to be balanced in it's output. Wrt the situation between us and PQ, IMO there is enough evidence out there to put forward a convincing case but the club need to find partners/conduits to help collate and present such, in a strategic way that can bring real pressure to bear. A series of disparate actions won't get us any further forward.

  13. Some players are more susceptible to injury than others on these pitches. That’s one of the problems with them

  19. I'm a member of Club 1872 and did so because I just wanted to do something (anything) to reduce the risk of us going through another period like we did recently. I'd have continued to be a member even though I wasn't convinced about buying shares, seats on the board, etc. Now however, I'm more committed than ever. I like the role they are performing on our behalf. Some of the statements are excellent, focussed, and hard hitting. Well done! I really hope that these are the sort of things we all agree on, rally around, and support. Surely this will convince more of us to support the Club 1872 and become members. The more members and funding we have, the more opportunities and likelihood to make a difference. WATP.

  24. I'd just like all the overly sensitive old grannies to go back and do what they did before and leave the glorious tribalism of football rivalry alone. Even if Rangers fans ditch the more questionable songs, the Nats, the BBC and all that lot will only find something else about us to get offended about. Testicular fortitude is required - subservient lickspittles less so. No Surrender.

  30. Last time one of these was posted the OP got a slagging, but hopefully you can all bare with it this time as it can actually show some decent info. Basically the outer limit of the circle represents the best of each stat for every midfielder in the league, so the closer to the outside his radar is, the better he is performing. So far this shows that his number of tackles per game, pressure regains, fouls won & involvement in buildup to goals/chances has been the best in the league since joining Rangers. His interceptions, passing % and turnovers (how many times he gives away the ball) is also up there with the best. Looks like the only surprise is his successful dribbles isn't higher so far, but I suppose he isn't being asked to carry the ball a lot so makes sense really.PAdj stands for possession adjusted in order to give a fair representation for players in teams that generally see more or less of the ball. Hope that helps. Makes for superb reading. Found this.

  31. I think I got the 'lies, damn lies and statitistics' line trundled out every time I posted stats. Stats are important. They can highlight the skillset of the player, what he actually does on the pitch, and how that compares to others in the league. It's one thing to watch him and think, 'Oh--he's doing well', but breaking it down like that provides a more objective overview; what exactly is it he's doing well, what's he not doing so well? Most of the statisticians identified Kamara -- along with Docherty, actually -- a couple of years ago because he had such high numbers in certain metrics. It seems like Kamara came out of nowhere, but he came to my attention last season because of these stats. For me, the stats were a trigger to watch out for him. Hopefully we keep looking out for these gems through their stats.

  33. It's really not we've nearly always borrowed at this time of year it used to be Ticketus which was repaid before it had to appear in the accounts. I'm not sure why the charge was previously released if the intention was to use it again seems a waste of form filling.
