Back from Vienna absolutely gutted that we didnt make it through. It was a very tight game with nothing between the sides, but our lack of creativity again was the difference. A creative midfielder and another striker or 2 are on every Bears January window wish-list. With Sadiq & Ejaria already gone to free up wages, hopefully these new players come in on Jan 1 and have the break away to settle in before the action starts again. 2 defeats in 14 European games this season is an incredible achievement, and if you look at the Europa League as 2-legged ties we beat 2 out of the 3 teams and should have beaten the other too. We will take some comfort when the dust settles from this I am sure. The team is in a bit of a rut at the moment, of that there is no doubt, and this is when a rookie manager will feel the pressure the most. I hope his large team around him are earning their crust, as this is when it matters most. With 5 games to go until the mini-break it is vital we dont drop many more silly points. Of course the game on the 29th is looming large and we simply must show up for that one and beat them. However Hamilton are up first and simply must be dispatched with a minimum of fuss (and I think they will be) before a visit to Easter Road against a team who, like Dolly recently, will already be looking forward to our visit in an attempt to kickstart their season and give their rancid following (and manager) their seasonal highlight. I'm sure we will discuss that more nearer the time.3 points

Also the money earned from our European adventures, £13m??, as well as the exposure we got it has certainly been a big step forward for Rangers as a club.2 points

Just like Odowu, has certainly got some talent, good skills, but nothing special and will be a journeyman pro. Hope he finds a level he is comfortable at and in a side that will bring out the best in him and fans that wont moan when he does three reverse movements in a row to try to find space and all his teammates are standing watching instead of moving into space for receive a pass. Will be remembered for a lovely goal in Russia v Ufa that booked our place in the group stages. Thanks Ovie, and good luck to you young man.1 point

We change every part of our defence except the one part that's crying out for a rest and hasn't put in a decent performance for weeks..1 point

We really should have qualified from that group. Rapid and Spartak Moscow aren't any better than us.1 point

Some of the rumours are pretty grim. And it isn't the first time that some of those rumours has surfaced either. Not partaking in football may actually make things worse for him, particularly if football has been his outlet to escape his demons. Much as though I think he is a vile person, I wouldn't wish what he is going through on my worst enemy.1 point

Interesting matches this week for a change. Everton will score against City but not often enough. Leicester will not lose at Palace. Newcastle won’t score at Town. ’Spurs will beat Burnley more comfortably than 2-0. Watford v Cardiff? I don’t do Football League Division Three (South) Wolves will maul the softie south coast sand castle builders. Fulham v WestHam would normally be a draw but Fulham are very poor and the Hammers are flying. It all points to Hammers going back down the Thames with no points. Brighton may score but Chelsea will get more than two. So’ton might halt Arsenal’s wobbly resurgence but most likely won’t. Surely, at long last, Liverpool will trounce United. It’s got to be now hasn’t it? On that basis expect at least one point to go back along the East Lancs road. This result forecasting is easy, Gribz. You do the hard work and I invent a load of nonsense.1 point

As you say we all see things differently. We haven’t seen a great deal of Grezda and certainly not in a settled side winning games but I think he’s better than both and will show it soon.1 point

Thought that was a strange appeal, it was a red card all day long for me. Waste of a grand for Dundee that.1 point

I'm not discarding anyone! I am merely giving an opinion on player who for me hasn't shown much, I hope he proves me wrong.1 point

I actually think it's mostly to do with how the team has played in the past few games and the fact he's often been brought on after we've largely already blown it and things are a bit frantic and hopeless. Due to our set up and a lack of confidence it seems we haven't played fluid football in the final third and the wingers have been isolated and up against it. I think if he started every game on the same wing (left or right) and if we hit form and started attacking teams properly we'd see him flourish. I see more ability in him than any of our wingers.1 point

Grezda has not done a lot to justify a start, IMO, he doesn't bring any more to a match then young Middleton. I have yet to see anything from Grezda!. we all see different things in players though.1 point

Did Kent shag your Mrs ? Kent has been a big positive and you can't fault him because of an injury. If anything he was used too much given his body will have never played so much of this level of football before. Ejaria has went the way of some past loanees, good start and then drift. In a way, it's got a logic to it but this 'current situation' will make it a big risk to put him back in the team when it is relatively struggling and the crowd is a result or two from getting on it's back.1 point

Agree with all of that. Would love to see us go out and attack teams properly with Lafferty and Morelos both starting and on top of the two centre backs, and Grezda and McCrorie coming in too. Grezda will come good when he's playing in a system where people know their jobs and he is fed the ball and supported properly. The wingers' job is far easier when you have two strikers. I've played on the wing often enough and the first thing you look for when you receive the ball is the nearest striker to play a one-two with to allow you to get in behind the man. And we saw again last night that Grezda is absolutely rapid.1 point

We'll need to agree to disagree. I don't think the tactics were bad, and certainly not "shocking" -- a lot of the "three defensive midfielders and only one natural winger" complaint was forced; Ejaria, Kent, Candeias all out etc. -- but, like @Frankie says, a change earlier would've been better. I also wouldn't say they're pure defensive midfielders, either; Not if their roles are to do otherwise. McCrorie can be high-energy, but he is a defender; Jack and Coulibaly have played as 8's for us, being asked to drive forward. You could ask if they actually did that job, and they didn't on the night. Everyone was poor -- except Barasic. My main complaint was for the players; they just couldn't string two passes together. That's not tactics.1 point

we're getting nothing out of the Liverpool loanees. they are luxuries we can I'll afford. I'll be glad to see the back of the lot of them.1 point

The way things are going, December could prove to be a difficult month but we have to keep focused on the bigger picture, however difficult that may be. Much of this squad have reached a point when they are running on not far from empty, mentally and physically. We desperately need a player or two to step-up at this point and help get us through to the winter break with minimum damage. To start with, Lafferty is relatively fresh and needs to come to the party on Sunday and lead the line well, he looked sharp in his short cameo in Vienna and I'd be tempted to puch Barisic up one and give Middleton a rest. We have to give Grezda more minutes and hope he starts playing. Finaly, I hope McCrorie now gets a run, if he can get back to how he played a year ago we'd be in better shape.1 point

Consider Rangers position at this time last season? I was both surprised and delighted that we negotiated four Euro qualifiers, and competed in our Europa League without embarrassment. We won two of the head to heads, 3-2 against Rapid and scoring two away goals against Villarreal. I think we would have triumphed over Moscow too, if the goal by Morelos had stood(it was clearly on side) and we would have gone 4-2 ahead? Anyways, I am comforted by the monies accrued from our involvement. We have improved, and hopefully we can confirm that improvement by maintaining a title challenge.1 point

One goal in 270 mins. and that was from a free kick. During that run our tactics have been crossing from the wings to hit the central marksman. What happened to defence-splitting passes and one-twos through the middle?1 point
-
For the first hour or so the tactics worked fine but our final ball was poor (sometimes down to an awful pitch). A poor goal to lose afterwards and the game was done at that point. I think we needed to change it earlier and that's the main criticism I'd offer.1 point

His performances may have dipped recently, but I don't think, at least on the pitch, it warrants an early termination of his loan. Maybe he's struggling to cope with the demands? Strange considering he's a Liverpool player.1 point

Absolutely no way, IMO, is Flanagan better than Wallace as a left back.1 point
