  1. Revisionism ain't what it used to be. It's a European night of football, two Scottish clubs are involved, one received nearly four and a half hours of coverage, the other gets a dozen lines amounting to five minutes. It is a Pacific Quay production. Sellik got beat, in performance terms they got beat bad. There is no mention of Sellik carrying the Scottish standard, there is no talk of the co-efficient, and the only comfort lies under a twenty tog rated quilt of revisionism. Snuggling under last evening was Big Dick presenting, joined in the studio by Tom English. In Leipzig, the continental warmth was shared by Liam McLeod commentating and Pat Bonner roaring on ra Sellik. Wullie Miller took it in turns to spoon with both. The BBC Scotland quilt reaches East Germany, but not Ibrox. Rangers and Rangers supporters are out in the cold, Meager heat is generated from Steven Thomson sat atop the Naughty Step watching the TV. Each of his four updates on the Rangers/Spartak game, was treated by his colleagues as if he had farted under the quilt. From 17.30hrs until 22.00hrs, the mixture of Dandy Dons and Yahoos chorused revisionism. Sellik were playing their second string, wracked with injuries, and how do you fill a hole left by Broonaldo? Empathy echoed from the Dandies, they played Burnley under similar circumstances? These last three years, Sellik cannot be compared to Rangers, no PQ employee will utter the phrase, 'old firm'. Sellik are managed by an experienced Boss, Rangers by a Youth team coach. Sellik are a fiscal example to all, Rangers are a shambling chaos. Oh, and Aberdeen are the second best team in Scotland, the Dandies are proud to shelter under ra Sellik's protective shadow. No comparisons? Well, Liam led the charge. Sellik, like Aberdeen are the recipients of the toughest of tough draws. The quilt raised as the murmurs of approval expelled hot air. Rangers are playing in a vastly inferior group, again the temperature rose. Big Dick enthusiastically threw in, "a full strength Rangers had to play extremely well throughout in Spain, to achieve a draw with an under strength Villarreal". Gripping the fantasy that ra Sellik can rely on beating anyone at Parkhead, Bonner had them qualifying from the group. Miller must have kicked the quilt off, when he offered, "Celtic cannot defend in Europe". It would appear that comparisons with Rangers are sometimes necessary? Here's a comparison for PQ to chew on, at the half way stage in the Europa Cup; your favourites have accrued 3 points from three games. Rangers have secured five points from three matches, whilst on an eleven euro game unbeaten run. Don't worry, it's just a temporary inconvenience. The Rangers team was available from 18.30 hrs, Radio Snyde broadcast it almost immediately. Beeb Scotland were amid their live commentary from Germany, but half time is fifteen minutes long, minimum. They did not inform license paying Rangers supporters of the Rangers team until 19.54hrs, six minutes prior to kick-off. Steven Thomson's contributions were the team, an update on the twenty-fifth minute after Brendan's long interview. A half-time and full time report lasting a couple of minutes. How long will it take for the quilt to suffocate the lot of them, we should be told?

  2. Whilst I worry a little that I've seen this Euro movie before; a great start, some good performances but a running out of steam and ultimately missing out I'm constantly reminding myself that any Europa League participation this season was a huge bonus. For me the matches against Villareal, Rapid and Spartak have done one very, very important thing; they've returned pride on the field to the club. We've not had that for a good number of years. Other clubs are taking us seriously again, we're defending like the Rangers sides of old and the support, the one constant through all the setbacks and false dawns, are being entertained and excited again. We're competing in Europe again, we're in a cup semi final and we're pretty well placed in the league despite playing two games a week since mid July and not finding any real consistency. Had I been offered that last June I'd have taken it in a heartbeat. There will be disappointments this season, nothing surer, but there's a very real chance of glory, of silverware and of genuine peer recognition. I really didn't think that was likely just a few months ago. We should have beaten Spartak last night, oh, but how wonderful it is to just be saying that sentence.

  3. Why do you think owning shops is a way of making money? The one at the stadium aside I can't think of one good reason we should be moving into high street retail again. I'd be astonished if Celtic make any money from their shops these days.

  6. The BBC is funded by the licence fee payers i.e. you and I. And a result It is supposed to be an impartial broadcaster without allegiances. However what we can see from the pondlife at BBC PQ is an organisation which works to various agendas. One of those agendas is blatantly anti-Rangers bias. Everyone can see this. What I object to is having to pay a licence fee to fund theBBC. If they want these agendas then, fine, but get funding from the real commercial world like other broadcasters have to do. Then see how they get on with much reduced income because viewing(& listening) audiences no longer want to watch/listen to their purile anti-Rangers broadcasts

  7. Funnily enough Gersnet forum and main site is a brilliant resource that catalogues not only opinion of posters but also articles and podcasts relating to all things Rangers dating back to the sites inception. The most recent podcast dated 11/9/18 hosted by our very own Colin details an exact timeline of events and actions by both the BBC and RIFC. Perhaps a review of the details may alter your opinion on the BBCs self enforced boycott of Rangers. you can find it here.

  8. I'm disappointed with that draw, which is a positive really, considering where we've been and who we played last night. I was really frustrated at the 2nd half, though: there was a spell when we kept giving it away; it was poor and sloppy. We had enough to win it; two points dropped, certainly.

  9. Yahoos aside to me it's a demonstration of how much better we are than the rest of the SPL and though we haven't yet fully demonstrated that in domestic competition it has to come. Gerrard was right, we're a class above the likes of the sheep etc. The evidence of that lies in an unbeaten 11 game Euro run which is apparently a Scottish record and the fact that we're in at all while sheep and hubz are not. Play like that from the outset on Sunday and the sheep will be sheared by halftime. McInnes knows this and I feel we're going to need a referee protecting us from frankly total brutality as they try everything in the grab and kick handbook to stop us employing our class. In a way i'm glad Morelos wont be playing because he would be the first target.

  10. I wonder how many of us could have predicted at the start of the season we’d be joint top of a EL group after 3 games ?? Not many I ‘d suggest. And I think there are those in our support who forget how far we’ve come in such a short space of time. Leaving the stadium at full time last night I couldn’t help notice a fair bit of dissatisfaction around me at not being able to get the victory we probably deserved against a side who were there for the taking. We must be more patient & realise that the road back to the top will have many ups & downs along the way. Like last night was.

  11. Almost every time you mention us blowing teams out the water, we lose. So on YOUR head be it on Sunday.

  12. I'm not blaming anybody. I don't care whose fault it was. I just want to be able to hear Rangers commentary on the British station to which I pay my licence. I probably will complain to the Beeb but it's difficult; everything is passed on and filtered till you give up. On their sports site it stated that the game would be featured on Radio 5 live; there was Formula One on R5. I could subscribe to Sky Sports but why the hell should I when I should get the same service that Keltic fans get. I don't know why you think the beeb isn't going to change its attitude; the Sportsound team sounded embarrassed as they tried to fill in the gaps that should have been filled in by proper commentary from Ibrox. I am sure they must miss us; we are a big part of their audience.

  13. Some Aberdeen fans think they are the Liverpool of Scotland. But realistically Ive always said they are the Notts Forest of Scotland.

  14. The amount of drinks you’ve had is clearly affecting your judgement. It wasn’t “complete garbage” at all. We played very well first half and pinned them back, we just lacked the final ball in the final 3rd. We were poor second half but “total garbage” is a stretch.

  16. You say it almost every other week. You didn't say it against Livingston ? May not in direct terms but the inference is usually there. Either way, it was a tongue-in-cheek remark.

  17. I put a poppy on my coat on Wednesday. It's the first time I've worn a metal poppy, it's a commemorative one. I don't think I'd wear the Rangers one though, I'm not altogether comfortable with mixing football and poppies. Perhaps an exception can be made for Hearts.

  18. No its not only press privilege! Its the constant attacks upon an institution, a brand, its players, management and executive. I would put it to you that the Rangers brand is far more important than you or my feelings. You are correct the BBC are supposed to be impartial however in this instance they are NOT and there is nothing we (you or I) or Rangers can do about that other than to remove those press privilege from the lead perpetrators of the diatribe. Rangers have done this and BBC Sport Scotland has decided not to enter into negotiation to resolve the matter and to back its man.

  19. It is no Rangers stand off. A press pass was withdrawn because a bbc reporter lied through his teeth to have a pop at our club. Again. I hope our club change nothing. In fact, this "this is the result if a reporter being banned" crap does us as much harm from within as our detractors do from the outside. No one is banned, so a wasted, fictional rant that simply feeds the parasites. And in this internet age I am sure you really do not have to rely on BBC online and Sportsound.

  22. Whilst this is technically true, it is amazing just how much revisionism there is around that Aberdeen game. At the time we were almost unanimously lauding our team for having been the better team playing for 80 minutes with 10 men. It is really disappointing when people then trot out the above with absolutely zero context. We gave them an extra man for bout 85% of the game, were the better team and only conceded an equalizer with the last kick of the ball. Some context please !!

  23. To be more positive, we really are good at the controlling the game side. Jack was excellent and a number of others were good too. Spartak Moscow haven't spent as much as some have suggested (net spend of minus £10m this season), but have spent a good 55m Euros over 3 seasons. They had much better players than us on paper but hardly got a sniff last night. It was quite remarkable and I bet they got a bit of a shock. Gerrard has built solid foundations and it's a great position to be in to be dominating teams like that and just lacking one or two players with more quality in the final third.

  24. We are very good at "controlling" games at home by playing with a high intensity and pressing the game with the crowd behind us. But my word we are poor at turning that into chances and goals. For all the praise Kent etc get, our final ball is consistently poor and we almost never manage an attempt on goal from a set piece. These are very concerning things. In my opinion in January we still need a player who offers us genuine aerial threat. Like I highlighted in the transfer window, we have a team full of crossers but almost no-one who is very strong in the air. We also need an attacking winger with more finesse and technique. Ejaria offers this is in the middle, he looked very threatening last night. Kent and Candeias's hustle and bustle are fine but only go so far, against stronger opposition they just lack the quality and finesse necessary to put something on a plate for Morelos. The cross always seems to hit the first man or go over everyone. This side have so much promise but Gerrard was right to play down the hype and stress we've still got some way to go.

  25. Elsewhere in Europe, Arsenal continue their winning run. Its 11 on the trot with a good victory in Lisbon. AC Milan - A team Ive always liked but how far backwards have they went! lost 2-1 at home to Betis. Oh and a certain Glasgow team losing in Germany has left them needing a couple of wins in their last 3 games, but are 6 behind the leaders. The Europa has slight improvement in quality but I still think there is too many teams. UEFA should move the Europa to Tuesday with the CL Wed and Thurs as its a bit like 'after the lord mayors show' being on the Thurs, i think it would have more interest on a Tuesday night. The CL league teams usually play on a Sunday anyway for TV so their games wouldnt be moved as much for domestic comps.

  26. I didn't mean to make accusations and sorry if I expressed myself badly. The point is that words are hijacked incessantly to pervert their true meaning and more importantly to prevent their legitimate use. By censoring individual words instead of maintaining their use, we only encourage and perpetuate this tactic of aggressive revisionism. The entire world knows what a fenián is, even those who proudly call themselves feniáns while howling oppression when others do the same. Language always evolves but the deliberate orchestration of language for sectarian advantage isn't evolution but tampering. It means the same in Surrey and Toronto as it does in Blantyre or Belfast. This board routinely refers to "Tims" but you can bet your life that would quickly be censored too if the Tims decided to be offended by it. Apparently "Dirty Orange Bastard" had been abbreviated to an acronym but, like "hun", hasn't yet managed to achieve offensive status. I approve of this because the censoring of language is much too close to the censoring of thought, which is the point we all might as well walk off a cliff.

  27. It always beggars belief when people start throwing "facts" about and leave nigh all context aside. Like the came against Aberdeen, when they got essentially one lucky shot away. Same with Livingston, who got a free-kick that never was and then lucky with the goal, their only real chance of the game. Whoever is ahead of us in the league (and EL) table right now has won exactly nothing ... some temporary bragging rights aside. As for yesterday ... Hanni cost them 7.25m, Fernando 11.25m. There is every chance that we will get a doing by Villareal at home and Spartak in Moscow, so better be prepared for more "disappointment". They have talent and quality, some of that clicked yesterday when the Spaniards hammered Rapid 5-0, while the other didn't with Spartak. We can always try to counter that with effort and all, but shouldn't be under any illusion that we have a team that can match those two on a regular basis.

  28. Went into the stadium shop last night, spent 5 mins roaming around as there was not much on offer tbh. No new kits on show and most of the old kits and other merchandise had MEGA DEAL labels which i believe are Sports direct branding so nothing much to see or indeed purchase.

  29. We're below Hearts, Celtc, Livi and Killie and on equal points with Hibs, in the league. We couldn't beat a poor Aberdeen side and our recent record against Hibs isn't much to shout about. Until these things change, there's no point appearing boastful.

  30. It just shows how far we have come that I left the ground disappointed that we didnt beat Spartak Moscow.

  31. Just back. Disappointed but not disheartened. Kent was our best player. We lacked cutting edge but the effort was good. It felt like the crowd was waiting for a goal to get going and the players were waiting for the crowd to drive them on (neither happened).

  32. Why? there is only a couple of weeks till Remembrance Sunday and hopefully the whole crowd at Ibrox that day will have bought poppies and wear them proudly.

  35. Hmmm, seems like two points dropped (and arguably it is) but Spartak are a good team and it's not the end of the world. Lots of positives but we have to offer more of a threat and stop being so wasteful.
