Dave King gets a lot of stick at times (from me included) but nights like Thursday weren't coming back in my lifetime if he and the other main investors hadn't dug deep and taken Mr.MASH on in a corporate conflict that was always going to be complicated and costly. I might be wrong but I tend to think that DK had a fair bit to do with bringing Gerrard to Ibrox and again I think this appointment (along with his staff and boardroom backing) is the one that can take us back to the top of Scottish football within 2 seasons. My thanks goes to Dave King, George Taylor, Douglas Park, George Letham and the others involved.6 points

I’ll be honest, I never agreed with a single thing the guy said but he was an amusing board nemesis, particularly when he kept posting stats to defend Ally. Definitely an educated guy though and a good debater, even if his arguments were rather bizarre.2 points

I can't make up my mind as to whether you are naive or are being willfully obtuse. You do realise the symbolism of the tricolour to the PUL community? https://www.infoplease.com/whats-symbolism-irish-flag What's the Symbolism of the Irish Flag? Symbolism of the Tricolour Flag of Ireland by Borgna Brunner Rarely has a flag possessed such lasting relevance as that of the "Tricolour," the national flag of the Republic of Ireland. Its three equal stripes illustrate the Irish political landscape as accurately today as in 1848, the year the flag was first unfurled. orange — standing for Irish Protestants green — signifying Irish Catholics and the republican cause white — representing the hope for peace between them Why Orange? The color orange is associated with Northern Irish Protestants because in 1690, William of Orange (William III) defeated the deposed King James II, a Roman Catholic, in the fateful Battle of the Boyne near Dublin. King William was the leader of England, Scotland, and Ireland and his victory secured Protestant dominance over the island. The primary colonizers of northern Ireland were the English (who were Protestant Anglicans) and the Scots (who were Protestant Presbyterians). To this day, Protestants in Northern Ireland are sometimes called Orangemen and they celebrate the anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne each July 12th. Green as the Emerald IsleHarp Flag - Unofficial flag of Ireland It's widely agreed that the green in the Irish flag has something to do with shamrocks and verdant landscapes. However, it's more critical to the Irish Catholic nationalists represented by this flag color that green symbolizes revolution. An earlier, unofficial Irish flag —the gold harp on a green background— served from 1798 until the early twentieth century as a symbol of nationalism. The harp is still Ireland’s national symbol today. As the revolutionary James Connolly wrote, just weeks before he participated in the Easter Rebellion (1916) that led to his execution by firing squad: "For centuries the green flag of Ireland was a thing accurst and hated by the English garrison in Ireland, as it is still in their inmost hearts... ...the green flag of Ireland will be solemnly hoisted over Liberty Hall as a symbol of our faith in freedom, and as a token to all the world that the working class of Dublin stands for the cause of Ireland, and the cause of Ireland is the cause of a separate and distinct nationality." —Worker's Republic, April 8, 1916 Lasting Truce Between Orange and Green Although it was not adopted as the national flag of Ireland until independence from Britain on December 6, 1921, the Tricolour was first unfurled in public on March 7, 1848, by the militant nationalist Thomas Francis Meagher1, (the stripes, however, were arranged differently at that time). Explaining the significance of the Tricolour, Meagher expressed a hope for his country: The white in the center signifies a lasting truce between the "Orange" and the "Green," and I trust that beneath its folds the hands of the Irish Protestant and the Irish Catholic may be clasped in generous and heroic brotherhood. Misplaced trust I'm afraid, go read about the various genocidal attacks perpetrated against the Irish Protestants under the flag's symbolism during the last century. Now jump to close to the present day where there are various occurrences whereby the Irish tricolour is used symbolically. Take for instance the 'Butcher of the Bogside's' funeral. When McGuinness went to his grave he was neither repentant of nor ever resiled his PIRA murderous days. However, he had to be wrapped in the tricolour - for the symbolism you understand. ... https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/opinion/news-analysis/martin-mcguinness-funeral-at-the-last-it-was-the-ira-man-being-buried-not-the-mere-politician-35560789.html ... "The Sinn Fein president's opportunism was an unwelcome reminder of how the republican movement exploits important public events, such as this funeral and last year's 1916 centenary, as retrospective endorsements of what poet Michael Longley called on Irish radio last week "our tawdry little civil war". Adams didn't hide it during his graveside oration to his late friend, insisting he was "not a terrorist, he was a freedom fighter". He even had the shameless hypocrisy to urge people in Northern Ireland to "learn to like one another, to be friends", as if he was not the very one who castigates unionists as "b*******". What happened at St Columba's Church was for public consumption. The graveside oration was for the republican family. There were none of those infamous paramilitary trappings, but it was not without significance that this devoted family man was buried in the republican plot at the City Cemetery, and that there was a traditional guard of honour at his graveside." No doubt there are many Irish citizens who are proud of their state flag and should be. In Ireland that is okay, however, in the U.K. we have come to see many instances where it is used in clearly provocative situations and has a menacing symbolism. This use can induce abhorrence in some quarters.2 points

Ser Barristan has conditional praise on Alfredo, highlights Billy Boys and all in one thread. Meanwhile everyone else sees the positives. Just one month after dismissing Alfredo and refusing to answer the question I asked the previous time you had a go about how much he is worth. I’ll ask you again. What is your valuation?1 point

Thursday was definitely one of the most memorable. It may seem like the best ever as we have been starved for so long. Depending on what age you it may well be the best ever? My greatest memory of an atmosphere at ibrox is the 2-2 game when Woods and Butcher were sent off. Big Gough scored in the last minute with nine men. Incredible atmosphere that day! Also I remember the best Europe night in my memory as Dynamo Kiev when Mcoist/Falco scored. There have been many others more recent though.1 point

Great player to have around. There is room for improvement - especially regarding clinical finishing and temper - but he has been a fantastic signing. The fact our detractors dislike him so much tells its own story.1 point

Hes a wee gem. Works so hard and scores well. Must be a nightmare to play against. Needs to argue less and score a few more. I love him.1 point

- Obscenely paid footballers that don't give their all - A manager with an ego the size of a small planet going through the same very deliberate and public process he did at Real Madrid and Chelsea on the way to vast pay-offs - A badly run football club but seemingly not that bothered upstairs aslong as the commercial side continues to grow Zidane got on well at Real Madrid because as Del Bosque did, he let things flow and didn't look to fight unwinnable battles. Could he do it at Man Utd ?1 point

Thought the first half was average with good effort. Second half was immense. Whats good about things now is Gerrard installs and expects what he did...and unlike Roy Keane he has social skills to relay this. League position is fake at present, we were by far the better side at Pittodrie and should have had another 2 pts. Motherwell and Livi was two out of the blue games we would get in any era except they were close together and Im sure Stevie will sort that. Im quite enjoying RTV except the sound quality from the stadium is shite though...1 point

We had a 6 year absence from European football until we played Progres last year. And FARE start to show up as soon as we’re back playing in Europe. Why? They never showed up when we were playing in the lower leagues did they? And they don’t show up for SPFL games either. It is clear they have an agenda against us which must be met head on. Fight fire with fire. What is their objective & who is setting it? A higher profileRangers CEO or MD should be asking these questions. I’ve long suspected they’re still closely associated with the yahoos. FARE’s head honcho was(andmaybe still is) Piara Power whose partner was a yahoo who hated Rangers & made up all sorts of stories about our support IIRC. FARE are the ‘fascist left’ as the excellent DM columnist Richard Littlejohn would call them. Kid-on socialists who are control freaks with an agenda against specific targets they don’t like for one reason or another. However if they had any credibility surely they’d be pursuing the yahoos whose support have been constantly fined by UEFA over the past few years. In particular the game against Hapoel Be’er Sheva at the giro dome which should have seen them booted out the CL there & then. But I suspect anti-semitism is perfectly acceptable withinFARE given their bias & clear agendas.1 point

Funny you should say that, Compo. Just after the game I was thinking the same. 80% the wee PM, 20% Ralphie Brand. What a player.1 point

It's not the colour itself, compo. The flag was clearly an attempt to wind us up (a failure because most Bears have only good things to say about the away support last night). Don't worry. I'll be wearing a full SS uniform and a Josef Fritzel mask when I attend the away match in December.?1 point

Based on their style of play I love Barca mate, regardless of the politics. I even like Roma too! The Rangers are the only team I support, and Chelsea too to a lesser extent. I don't let politics dictate the teams I like watching though. Since Guardiola took charge of Barca they have been a joy to behold.1 point

Game over....Messi is the greatest player of all time. 5 goals in 2 games and hit the post twice tonight too. Completely dictated play and spent half the game in his own half. What a guy.1 point
