https://rangers.co.uk/news/academy-news/academy-announces-fixtures/ Fantastic article on the thinking at the academy , the detail they go into regards formation and even getting the players used to playing 2 legged games with away goals counting shows the thought and future planning of the academy staff .4 points

If Police Scotland say they have enough resources to properly police back-to-back semi-finals in one day, why can't they police one Loyalist( OO, ABOD or RBP ) parade walking up the Calton?2 points

There are so many things that could go wrong with this , weather , the state of the pitch , extra time and possibly penalties , fans safety , travel , its absolute madness , we are only in October its not like we are at seasons end.2 points

I think what we have here is a fudge of historic proportions. Aberdeen has a valid point. Both games should have 3pm kickoffs and they should be played in different neutral venues. Anyone with an iota of fair play knows it. The SPFL is simply carrying on a tradition of opinionated incompetence, then realising what a fuck up they've created, and finally covering it up with lame excuses and half truths.2 points

Utterly unbelievable. Going from genuine concern about his constituents which no one can argue with to talking about the playing surface. This shows how thick he is and that he is not fit for office. Is that letter a hoax?1 point

His points are viable until the last two. Travelling supporters and the condition of the field is no concern to the safety of his constituents. If he is writing his private feelings then great but he is using official paper and mentions his constituents so he is writing using his MSP office and should have no football interest.1 point

Father Keevins pushing for Shame F.C. to get an extra weeks rest before the semi! Wants them to play it the following week. Good old unbiased radio Snyder!1 point

Someone seems to have mixed up an interest in tactics with scouting and made a rather poor attempt at a joke.1 point

There's a few players I wouldn't risk due to the surface, but mainly Dorrans and Rossiter. However it does limit our midfield options a little.1 point

Very much so and was always going to be the case. Revenue won't be an unimportant factor. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10.7 For each Match in the Semi Final Round of the Competition: 10.7.2 15% (or such lesser percentage as the Company may be able to agree) of the gross admission receipts after deduction of the applicable VAT shall be paid to the neutral venue owner and operator as payment for the hire of the stadium and associated services; 10.7.3 following the payment specified at Regulation 10.7.2, the Match expenses and costs incurred by the Company or for which the Company is liable shall then be deducted from the remaining balance and applied in the discharge and/or reimbursement of such expenses and costs; 10.7.4 the Company shall retain 5% of the remaining balance following the payments specified at Regulations 10.7.2 and 10.7.3; and 10.7.5 following all payments specified in this Regulation 10.7 the remaining net admission receipts after all such deductions, payments etc. shall have been made and/or allowed for shall be divided equally amongst the four competing Clubs or clubs which participated in the Semi Final Round of the Competition. https://spfl.co.uk/admin/filemanager/images/shares/pdfs/League Cup Regulations 2018-19.pdf1 point

Craig Levin has given the SPFL both barrels over this. And Aberdeen are raging too. It really is staggering how they have arrived at this conclusion. Essentially Levein is pointing out that they could play their tie the following week when they were scheduled to play Celtic in the league already, with there essentially being until April to find a slot to reschedule the league game. Its hard to argue against the logic.1 point

I reckon 25k each of Yahoos, Dons, Jambos and Bears in and around Hampden and the way to and from the stadium will be fun to see. But Glasgow Police will manage ... all is fine. *cynical mode off*1 point

Taking different parts of what various posters have said and puttting them together could provide a solution to the immediate problem of coverage. DMAA talks about reinstating press privilages to McLaughlin and John mentioned both the club and BBC Scotland agreeing on statements that basically save face for both. That would mean renewed coverage and the important benefits that go with that and deny those individuals who work on BBC Scotland the vacum to air their increasingly open contempt (often by saying nothing at all). It wouldn't change the spots of the usual suspects but as Stewarty says, we are looking at the medium term to make significant in-roads there but you have to start somewhere. Bill says that the BBC is like the Arc and are becoming less important. I don't agree, they are by far the biggest broadcaster and are generally ahead of the digital curve wrt competitors. Clubs do a lot of their own coverage but there are many who don't want to always hear a one-sided take on things and for that matter, take an interest in what is happening in the rest of the football world. Bottomline, we as a business need to look to the future and not always play the confrontational game that if you do for too long will marginalise you. This is exactly what the Celtic-Minded want and how they are playing it. That doesn't mean bending over, it means boxing clever and subtle, a little give and take.1 point

How interesting you should choose to see things from a BBC perspective. Try this instead... If the BBC gave assurances to Rangers, in public, that it would apply the same standards of reporting as it does to all other clubs, then Rangers would be in a position where it would no longer need to withdraw press privileges from anyone. The only reason for not seeing it this way is if you think Rangers acted unjustifiably in the first place. I don't.1 point

Rangers Football Club would look very weak if we reinstated McLaughlin's press privileges. I would be disgusted and I'm sure many other Bears would feel the same.1 point
