It’s an interesting point. Turning off the radio or telly seems to have no effect because they take your money anyway. The more interesting aspect is ‘why do we need them’? And other than being bloody annoying and unfair do their actions damage our club? We have gone through the leagues, we are playing at a high level in Europe and the BBC are irrelevant to our progress from what I can see. We need well meaning business men and a fan base few clubs can match to come out of this shiite. We don’t need the approval of Dick Gordon and his chums to be successful. But I would like to know how the money is spent on covering clubs.3 points

“I have been lucky – lucky in those who were around me from the boardroom to the dressing-room. In time of stress, their unstinted support, unbroken devotion to our club and calmness in adversity eased the task of making Rangers FC the premier club in this country. “To be a Ranger is to sense the sacred trust of upholding all that such a name means in this shrine of football. They must be true in their conception of what the Ibrox tradition seeks from them. No true Ranger has ever failed in the tradition set him. “Our very success, gained you will agree by skill, will draw more people than ever to see it. And that will benefit many more clubs than Rangers. Let the others come after us. We welcome the chase. It is healthy for us. We will never hide from it. Never fear, inevitably we shall have our years of failure, and when they arrive, we must reveal tolerance and sanity. “No matter the days of anxiety that come our way, we shall emerge stronger because of the trials to be overcome. That has been the philosophy of the Rangers since the days of the gallant pioneers.” We should play an audio of this before every home game on the loudspeakers. Will make the hairs on your neck stand up3 points

I think it is kind of amateur-ish that the guy doesn’t read out half time substitutions or other half time scores either. And don’t say we can all check them on our phones, as the signal on my iPhone never works in that big a crowd & the WiFi doesn’t work either. They don’t even have sky sports news on in the foyer at half time either..2 points

It's Friday morning and I have to admit I'm still basking in the glow of last night's excellent draw in Spain. OK, it might not have been our best ever European performance and we didn't even win the match but the positives are there for all to see. First and foremost, there's character. Some discredited journalists may think our manager is 'quietly terrified' of the Rangers job but I see a man (along with his coaching colleagues) with a huge amount of self-belief and all of whom seem to relish the task. That clearly rubs off on our players who despite two setbacks yesterday kept plugging away to get an unlikely result. Next there's quality. Sure, it's not the best ever Rangers squad and sloppy mistakes are made but even in mid September, the improvement in the team is obvious. We have more depth in the squad, can live with the physical battle and some of our attacking play is a joy to behold when we click. Finally, there's teamwork. The most successful clubs aren't just about one or two individuals but are the sum of all parts. We undoubtedly have a few key players but it's because we're now functioning as a team that we're looking less vulnerable and more dangerous. That's the kind of solid foundation we will need to bring back trophies to Ibrox. Of course we're still far from the finished article and, given our results so far this season, that's paradoxically perhaps a positive. I don't think I've really seen us fully click for 90mins yet and I'm still not sure Gerrard has managed to play his favoured XI or system either. When that happens, we might, just might be capable of challenging properly for the SPFL title. Until then, and with such a busy schedule, we need to keep asking every player to contribute when called upon. The manager was right to point out last night the performance of his subs - all three of whom did the business when they came on. And with another tough match against St Johnstone on Sunday, more fringe players will have the chance to impress this weekend. Given the hot and humid conditions in Villarreal and the effort put in to secure a point, changes to the team are inevitable. I'd expect at least three changes and perhaps as much as five. Joe Worrell had a fine debut but may have to be content with a place on the bench again to allow Katic back into the team. Meanwhile, Borna Barisic went off with what seemed to be a thigh problem so Lee Wallace may well get the chance to start his first game since he went off injured over a year ago at Firhill. I would expect James Tavernier to keep his place at right back - not because Jon Flanagan isn't an able deputy - but because I suspect Eros Grezda may start his first Rangers game on the right flank. As such the influence of Tav behind him may be a good idea. With such an impressive 20mins in Spain, Glenn Middleton may also get the nod ahead of Ryan Kent on the opposite wing. Alfredo Morelos should be a certain starter in attack as he returns from a European suspension. More tricky to predict is the central, deeper players. We're lucky to have several options in there but with injuries to Jack, Ejaria and Rossiter, we're having to rely on players like Arfield, Coulibaly and Halliday. I don't expect that three to play for the third game in a row so Ross McCrorie may add a much needed freshness if Jack or Ejaria don't make it. The return of Graham Dorrans to hopefully full fitness this time will be another great option but he may remain a sub for the time being. All in all, our excellent work in the summer transfer window means we can afford to rotate our squad given the schedule demands of the coming weeks. The big test will be doing that carefully enough as not to disturb momentum and keep delivering results. A draw on Thursday was well received but only three wins domestically over the next week will satisfy Rangers fans before Rapid Vienna visit Ibrox in a fortnight's time. It's a difficult challenge but, so far at least, we appear well up for it. Let's keep riding that wave...! Possible team (4-2-3-1)1 point

Started reading the article became bored before halfway and thought that the BBC have really went low with him (Thomson) as a main critic and like Gonzo the thought of the two imbeciles in the article being together gives me the creeps.1 point

Thompson spent 3 years at Rangers, 1.5 in Cardiff and 3 in Burnley. I would assume that with these three clubs he never earned less than 5k a week. That alone would get you nearly 2m. Plus any earnings in his 5 years in Paisley. Unless he gambled it all away, it should see him in good stead to worry about his post-career time. Thing is ... the folk inhabiting the studios and commentator positions in modern day Scotland - and I exclude RTV here - are either very low key, sub-standard or downright incompetent. More often than not, a combination of all that. Which is as scary as it is disappointing.1 point

Dorrans looked up for it when he came on. Hopefully a sign of things to come.1 point

From the online store ; 'This page will refresh every 15 seconds and you will have access to the site as soon as possible'. This queue will keep your position in line, so please don't refresh or close the page as you will lose your position. So basically there is no queue, if you hit refresh or F5 randomly and there is a window available, you will get in. Depends on how much you want a top really .1 point

One of my sons is a reporter for a daily newspaper and his views would dispute yours. Reporters are under constant pressure to prepare reports that make it past the editors and into print. Unless your name appears under headlines on a regular basis then your position is under threat. The power rests with the editors and they use it to ensure compliance with whatever views are adopted by the paper. Generally speaking, there is no journalistic freedom and whatever their personal opinions, reporters who still want to be reporters next week will write whatever they believe to be the views of their editors. So when attacking reporters for writing bollocks about Rangers, all you're doing is ensuring attention is kept away from those who actually decide what appears on the page.1 point

I could join the crowd and pretend to be incredulous about the bias and corruption of PQ but somehow I can't bring myself to waste the time and effort involved. They are what they are, they've been that way for a very long time now and nothing is going to change in a hurry, certainly not as a result of anything Rangers or its support does or says. I enjoy reading about their antics on this topic but the idea of ever actually listening to BBC Scotland sports coverage would never enter my mind these days. So, on balance, I think it's best just to laugh and look away (OK sneer and look away). There's no way I could bring myself to get anything as interested as to be annoyed any more. My bottom line is I don't need them and I sure as hell don't want them. In terms of sports reporting, BBC Scotland no longer exists in my world. I get almost everything from RTV, the Rangers website, Rangers social media and some external online sources. The one thing that IS missing for me is a live Rangers radio service, covering matches (the RTV commentary could easily be adapted), post match analysis and providing wider news about the club and its worldwide support.1 point

A quick update on last night's PQ administrations. Paul Mitchell(Jambo) and Steven Thompson(EBT toting St Boo fan) were in a PQ cupboard providing 'live' commentary of Villarreal vs Rangers. Big Dick, Liam McLeod, Wullie Miller, Tom English, Michael Stewart, and Paddy Bonner were all at Sellik Park. At half time and full time of our game, the only discussion was ra Sellik. Big Dick provided our score in Spain with details of scorers, whilst doing a run down on other Europa Cup results. At culmination of events at Parkhead, they spent twenty minutes discussing the merits of Leigh Griffiths, there was NO summing up of our game. Both Chris McLaughlin and Scott McDonald were at Sellik Park too, they were in hospitality. Now, if PQ dispatch the usual crew to Salzburg in a fortnight to cover the green'n'grey hooped horrors, and provide commentary of Rangers vs Vienna from the PQ cupboard; then we have got them NOT providing a similar service to all license fee paying supporters. Why they did not travel to Spain is a most legitimate question?1 point

I had the rare treat of driving to Aberdeen and back yesterday. I downloaded and listened to the Gersnet podcast during my journey, it was a big improvement on the week before. However, the three contributors were surprisingly confident about the Villareal away match. So much so that by the end of the show I was feeling upbeat about the match. Villareal aren't scoring goals this season, are languishing in the lower depths of La Liga and have no one of the calibre of Riquelme or Forlan playing for them now. Fifteen minutes into the first half I was cursing the podcast for raising my expectations as I watched us being schooled by athletic, pass and move Spaniards looking like it was a training match against a passing amateur side following a heavy night on the tiles. We literally seemed unable to make even simple passes at times. Ach well, that'll teach me I thought. Then, after threatening an anal hammering early in the second half, we turned into Rangers of old. A side that looks like it's on the ropes suddenly springs to life, Tav turns into Messi and Arfield, who I'd bellowed at minutes before for being rubbish, slots one away and all before is forgotten. Well, for a couple of minutes it was. Lafferty's goal was a thing of beauty, the first time cross from Barasic was exquisite, Laff's run and finish was high quality, my subsequent leap across the room worthy of a man half my age. And we could have won it. We could have lost it too, but let's not dwell on that. Others have said it, but it bears repeating, we were playing, and losing, to part-timers, not long ago. Last night we drew with the fifth best side in Spain. It feels good today, enjoy that feeling, you've earned it.1 point

Seriously, is any Gersnetter surprised by this latest episode? At the culmination of the 2016 Scottish Cup final, Rangers made a statement that all members of Rangers staff on/in the pitch/dug-outs that day had been subject to varying degrees of threatening behaviour and assault. They qualified the accusation by referring to prodding, pushing, spitting, ....... etc. Plenty of both Hibs and Rangers supporters appeared in court accused of assaulting each other, invading the pitch, resisting arrest, ..... etc; not one was charged with assaulting a member of Rangers staff. We have designer justice. The design is to ensure that in future, the compiled stats will show that Rangers players were not assaulted, effigies were not hanged by the neck, children aged ten did not have their heads stitched or jaws reconstructed, .... etc.1 point

I can't see an issue with what C1872 are proposing. They are just confirming what the situation is anyway. If it assists the Chairman of the club, who has lent the club at least £6.7 million (and probably more), then great. If it doesn't help him then no harm done.1 point

There are only a very select few clubs likely to win the European Cup any time soon. That should be a far bigger cause for concern than the away goals rule. At the current rate, Barcelona and Real Madrid are likely to rack up about 30 wins between them before 2050.1 point

I don't know if it still occurs but many non/severely impaired sighted persons used to attend games with a "commentator"who would give details to them on how the play was going. Also to those that did come they were able to soak in the atmosphere.1 point

Personal John. Scotland is a small place. Need to leave it at that I’m afraid so won’t comment further. I also know 2 serious attempts were made at resolution from same person thru an ex director at the club but the problem now is what was a principled journalistic warning shot across the bow has been seized upon by lower order more visible people at BBC (the sort referred to in the podcast) who have had an agenda against Rangers pre EBT and post EBT and it has snowballed into something that I doubt Mackinnon can/will resolve. There is no shortage of folk there who quite frankly think we are ‘Orange barstewards’. My personal view is ‘Hell mend them’ but then I’m not a licence paying pensioner or digitally excluded person who only has the radio and council telly. Any resolution that is sought must insist not only on the BBC Trust ruling being respected but the BBC to show more fair minded journalism and to employ more fair minded pundits. The rot is set deep. We know who the haters are and we know they are being led. Only external resolution and a change in culture will fix this to any degree of normality and any concession from BBC Scotland will be superficial Put it this way , even when we get 55, unless peace is made the jibes from the low order pundits will not stop. They may intensify and the narrative from the likes of Miller , Gordon and Spence are only going to go along the lines of ‘they won this one without EBTs’, ‘is this Rangers first league title’, ‘look at Rangers budget’ , ‘where did they get the money’, ‘FFP’ etc. Without a major change they will continue to marginalise us in all the variety of ways that are well documented even down to childish stuff like the Morelos ‘offside’ goal at Killie. For example my guess is there is a lot of support in the BBC for the stance of Chairman Reid (and it must have been him) in wanting Rangers to be offered no assistance. Any other country and that would be much bigger news and the broadcaster would run at least one major show on the self harm in Scottish football and the lack of sportsmanship and interest in the development of our game. They would question the sporting integrity of that club from Japan tours to their attempt to influence officials to be prejudiced. Throw in the referees strike and it becomes a rancid putrid stew of sporting disintegrity involving Celtic. A club like no other that’s for sure. I haven’t looked at BBC sport today but I’ll guess the chairman of Celtic wanting to damage Rangers chances in Europe out of pure hatred does not get a mention of any real note. Imagine the roles were reversed. I don’t think they are capable of balance and that’s why I would rather they were open with their bias and hatred and shown up for what they are.1 point

Their news department certainly carry negative Rangers stories (non sporting) very prominently. Their economic/financial editor (Fraser) has become very sharp tongued when speaking about the club and it's officers.1 point

I don't know who of the Green tenure signed these erroneous contract but names like Liambias, Somers and Green himself has been mentioned. But whoever it was should have been taken to court by King and the board for damages and pushed for the contract to be set aside, as those names did not act in the best interests of Rangers but rather Ashley. I think we would have had a greater chance of victory going down the non compliant with their fiducial duties route, rather than challenging the legal terms in the contracts. As Ashleys lawyers had the contracts sewn up pretty watertight.1 point
