Introduction After a whirlwind set of opening fixtures which began on the 12th of July against little known Shkupi and ended in disappointment against somewhat more familiar opposition on the 2nd of September, Gerrard and his team have finally had a chance to take a breather, regroup and prepare for this next set of crucial fixtures ahead of the October international break. This group of fixtures will include a much-coveted return to the glamour of Europe with Ibrox set to welcome visitors from Spain and Austria in the shape of Villarreal and Rapid Vienna. However, before then we host more humble opposition managed by a former Gers star with an attack spearheaded by a former Gers star. The Opposition Neil McCann brings his side to Ibrox under immense pressure and with a point to prove. The Dees have endured a horrendous run of five straight losses - including a humbling on their own patch in the cup at the hands of Championship side Ayr United – which sees them languishing at the bottom of the table without a point. A series of listless performances has caused many of their fans to question the instability brought about by the high turnover of players at the club which has seen last season’s mainstays Bain, Hendry, Caulker, Holt, O’Hara, Allan, El Bakhtaoui and Murray all depart the club. Free transfer arrivals from the likes of Woking and Kidderminster Harriers rather than re-investing the Hendry fee signals a club in decline. Having said that, a wounded animal can be a dangerous one and there is some quality in McCann’s side. A certain Kenny Miller seems to age like a fine malt whisky and will be ready to pounce in the box given half a chance. On-loan youngster Kallman is another one to watch after breaking his duck in the 3-1 defeat to Motherwell. Calvin Miller, on loan from Celtic, provides a threat from left back with the ability to get forward and get crosses into the box. However, the most interesting thing to see when the line-ups are announced will be whether Glen Kamara passes a late fitness test. Kamara was linked to Rangers over the summer and some in the summer transfer rumours thread were keen to see him signed. If he returns, there is no doubt he will make Dundee more competitive in the middle of the park. Rangers A passive performance against Celtic gave much cause for concern and raised a number of questions. Some sections of the media were quick to use phrases like “reality check” and many of our own fans were not sure themselves if that is what it was or how great a role the many mitigating factors were playing. What is sure is that the fans are desperate to see a well-rested, well drilled and rejuvenated team put on a show on Saturday and show that it’s back to business as usual. Morale has improved over the international break with Barisic playing the full game against Portugal and Morelos grabbing what we will graciously call an assist in his Colombia debut, followed by high praise from his idol Radamel Falcao. The sight of quartet Coulibaly, Grezda, Dorrans and Rossiter in training was a further boost but the fans will be anxious to see whether Coulibaly in particular returns to the starting line-up. The clash with bottom of the table Dundee at home is the first fixture of its kind since St Mirren, a home game in which we are expected to go all-out attack and win comfortably. Gerrard will want to see a return to the high pressing, high intensity aggressive display which so impressed the fans against Maribor and in the opening half hour against St Mirren and hopefully that’s what we’ll get. Line-up The signing of the highly rated Worrall on loan from Nottingham Forest followed by the capture of Northern Ireland international Gareth McAuley has given many reason to believe that Gerrard plans to utilise 3-5-2 on a more regular basis going forward. Wingers Candeias, Kent and Grezda would be the losers in this formation with Lafferty and Worrall being the primary benefactors. However I’m going to predict a familiar looking 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 with Lafferty paving the way for Candeias and Coulibaly making a return in the place of Ovie Ejaria.4 points

Bit more Info on Vienna: Flights: As I said before you should also check flights Edinburgh - Bratislava (Ryanair) and Edinburgh - Vienna (Jet2). That's what most of us use for the match in Glasgow. Depending on how long you stay or when you arrive Bratislava is also nice for a day or night (cheap beer, nice girls, small but nice city centre). Then either by bus from the airport in Bratislava to vienna or by train which costs a bit more. From vienna airport to vienna either you take the fast but expensive train called CAT (City Airport Train) 11€ one way or a normal train to vienna main train station 4.20€ one way. Hotels: Honestly, check it for yourself. Vienna has all from cheap hostels to 5 star hotels. It's christmas time then so I would recommend looking for it soon though. Eat and Drink: Same as for the hotels, Kebap or sausages on the street for 3€ up to 5* restaurants where you can spend as much money as you please City centre is most expensive though. If you need some recommendations for good but lower budget restaurants just let me know. Pubs and bars are ok in the city centre. Bermuda Dreieck (bermuda triangle) near Schwedenplatz is the main bar/pub area in vienna but you find places all over the city. As it's december there will be tons of christmas markets. I would recommend to avoid the main one in front of the town hall (it's good for a photo but way too overcrowded). There is a nice one at Schloß Schönbrunn which is one of the big sights in vienna anyway. But also lots of smaller ones all over the city. Average prices: 4-5€ for 0.5 beer in a pub, 5-6€ pack of cigarettes (smoking is still allowed in some places), subway, bus, tram tickets: 24h 8€, 48h 14.10€, 72h 17.10€ Must sees: Depending on what you're interested in, the city centre obviously with the main cathedral (Stephansdom) and Kärntnertraße (expensive shopping street), Schönbrunn Palace as mentioned before with it's huge park (nicer in summer though), Belvedere Palace, the parliament, lots of churches, parks and museums all over the city, the opera, the danube river,... This I guess everyone needs to plan on their own. If you're interested in football grounds: Ernst Happel Stadion is the biggest stadium in Austria (cap ~50k) but it's a shithole in my opinion. Our stadium is the second biggest in Vienna (national ~ 27k, international ~24k). It's called Allianz Stadion but fans call it Weststadion as we don't like our stadium to be named after an insurance company that much... It's a new stadium though and was opened in 2016. 3rd biggest ist from our city rivals Austria Wien (who we play tomorrow at home) which is also new and got opened this season. It's also named after an insurance company Generali Arena (cap ~15-17k). We have a few older grounds but I'm afraid there won't be any matches in december anymore. There would be a lot more to say but I guess that's enough for now. If you have any questions just let me know.4 points

Rangers should actually go out their way to invite the non-Scottish BBC to Ibrox. It will highlight the fact we’ve not actually banned them and will also highlight the absolute ridiculousness of the Pacific Quay CSC.4 points

We have a run of winnable games coming up domestically. As always though, the litmus test will be against them in December. I won’t start believing in any title challenge until we beat them.3 points

Just saw Ajax score a goal that had players offside. The referee gave the goal but VAR showed it was offside. The sooner we get VAR in the better.2 points

Well played today, Ran Dundee ragged. Arefield the Sponsors MOTM Kent RTV MOTM and Candeias my man of the match. Just a word for Andy Halliday. You really are proving all your detractors were wrong. You are a fantastic squad player.2 points

I went to the website for BBC Sport, Scottish Football for thr Highland League results my usual supplier having failed. Headline was Rangers beat 10 man Dundee. Right enough, they were Miller lite for a whole eleven minutes. The Broch beat the Clach btw.1 point

I saw that still of the offside goal on Twitter. Clearly onside. It was a really nice goal too: quick counter, and lovely finish from Morelos.1 point

How can the linesman see it from his angle. Looking at the cut of the grass he is about 2 metres behind the play. It looks like a good goal to me going by the cut of the grass.1 point

Think it was absolutely essential to produce a commanding high scoring performance at home against the bottom side after the lacklustre display in our previous game.1 point

Take players off and save them for Thursday. Maybe a look at Grezda.1 point

With three at the back, we don't need a goalie. Anyway, SG springs the odd surprise ... even in a nominal 4-3-3 ... McGregor Tavernier - Katic - Goldson - Barisic Arfield - Coulibaly - Halliday Candeias - Morelos - Kent1 point

You've got 11 outfield players there, @der Berliner.1 point

Regardless of the other results I think it is a must win. If we want to challenge for the league then we need to deal with teams like Dundee comfortably at home.1 point

Wouldn't recommend walking as the stadium is in the far west of the city. But the subway U4 drives to the stadium (station is called Hütteldorf). You can get on the subway at station Schwedenplatz for example which is pretty much the city centre and there are also a lot of pubs and bars around where you can have a few drinks before.1 point

Ouch, not sure if I should laugh or cry ? Vienna is a great city though, especially if your're interested in culture. If you want to come here by yourself (not by club flights) you should check fights from Edinburgh to Bratislava though. It's a lot cheaper and Bratislava Airport to Vienna is about 60-90 mins bus drive which costs around 1-5 euros. As for my question, Rapid wrote on their site yesterday that it's because of security reason (officially) but they think your club wants to sell more tickets to their own fans which makes some of us not exactly happy. We might get 1.200 now which is a bit better but still not enough. Hope they can still figure out something.1 point

Scottish Cup 4th round, our first game at Ibrox on a Sunday. The attendance was 65,000. Davey White was the Dundee manager and Tommy Gemmell their skipper. We were battered by Dundee that day, a really fine football playing team.1 point

Will be a 3-5-2 with worral starting. Hopefully coulibaly is fit enough to start for the injured jack.1 point

Disappointing to see Dundee and Neil McCann struggling. There are nine other clubs I’d rather see relegated than them but signings from Woking and Kidderminster Harriers? That’s a level below Accrington.1 point

Last night in Trouville sur Mer, I persuaded a bar man in a cafe tabac to switch the TV, to allow me the opportunity to watch Scotland/Albania. The tabac had two customers and my opposition was a member of the local glee club, agreed with my suggestion as I stood him une verre de vin rose. Further, he agreed that Naismith played well. I say to King Zog, Rudi Vata, Enver Hoxha, ......................... Norman Wisdom; your team took a helluva beating.1 point

I loved Naismith when he played for us. He's a clever player, he sees angles and runs many other players don't, he's hard working and he's got a nasty streak too, he doesn't get taken advantage of on the park. At the same time he comes across as a decent human being off it too. His press conference when he left was a monumental mistake. I've more sympathy for him than most, we forget that none of us knew what Green was planning, none of knew what team we might or might not have, it was a difficult and emotional time. All that being said he'd have been better saying nothing. It hurt and angered more coming from a bluenose, from a player a lot of us could relate to. However, if we can accept Kevin Kyle, Ian Black and Michael O'Halleron, if we can take back Kenny Miller, twice, if we can take back McGregor and Lafferty we can surely take back Naismith. However, I'd like to see another 6 months at Hearts, injury free and in good form before then. My only reservation on Naismith is around his ability now, can he still play to the same level.1 point

He needs help and support. His team mate who posted the video needs a good kicking though.1 point

Exactly. He could have chosen to focus on the football, the number of clean sheets, the new players being welded into something looking like a team in a really short space of time, or the general sense of optimism around Rangers in contrast to the other lot across the city. But no. He chose to highlight an addiction that Kyle had in the past and we all hope he will be able to put behind him. No context, no appreciation that it goes beyond Rangers and is a cancer not just across football but the whole of modern society. Just highlight one player (a Rangers fan) and his problems. Keep your blinkers on Tom and service that PQ agenda for all your worth.1 point
