  1. Not sure if it's a scandal? The way I see it is if you want to be successful you have to win your games, regardless if they are home or away. Look at this way, if we had avoided the 2 late goals in our away games we be sitting on 9 pts and we wouldn't be talking about this.

  2. Don't be scared of the 3-5-2. Once we get it drilled better, it will be an excellent option.

  3. Reporting Scotland late evening news bulletin had the 'EBT story' as their headline and number one story last night. Even ahead of the First Minister being evasive over the growing sex pest scandal engulfing Alex Salmond. I understand that stories that feature Rangers might get elevated beyond the sport department but did nothing else happen in Scotland yesterday? That some retired footballers might have to pay more tax is not headline news at anytime. Even the tabloids haven't ran with this non-story as a headline today. There's a genuine political story on the go, where the previous First Minister, ex-MP and arguably the most influential Scottish politician of the age, is suing the Government he used to lead, is accusing the senior civil servant of leaking damaging information and the current First Minister, and that his former colleague and protege knew about this for months. There have been rumours about Salmond being a bit too touchy-feely for years, so where's Mark Daly and why isn't he busy finding pissed-off former interns who were too scared to talk about Salmond patting their arse when they walked past or were advised not to find themselves alone in a room with him of an evening? I'm a defender of the BBC, but BBC Scotland have completely lost the way of themselves. This is simply another example of that.

  4. Fantastic for the lad. And vindicates the work the management team have done to get his head back in the game. Thoroughly deserved Alfredo!

  6. The point has been made several times that we are not very good at politics, so I have taken that to heart and just written to my local SNP MSP to make clear my views and imploring him to ensure that this matter is thoroughly investigated.

  7. I'm going to open this again but I expect better from people in terms of discussing the topic at hand. The author of the article put together a very interesting piece and his points have been vindicated this week so as much as I can understand (and share) annoyance with certain political parties, we gain nothing with some of the stuff I've had to delete.

  8. Around three weeks ago, Club 1872 received formal confirmation from Rangers that the proposed Ibrox Fanzone pilot has been cancelled for the foreseeable future due to the direct intervention of SNP, Glasgow City Councillors Stephen Dornan, Susan Aitken and David McDonald.Very serious questions now exist over the actions of Council Leader Susan Aitken and her deputy David McDonald in this process, and that is something on which we are seeking urgent clarity from Glasgow City Council (GCC). We recently submitted an FOI request to GCC in an attempt to discover precisely what role these two councillors played in ensuring that the Fanzone application had to be withdrawn prior to a scheduled licensing hearing even taking place. We have also written to them personally to ask them why they intervened in this case and what track record they have of intervening in similar public entertainment licence applications.Having seen Mr Dornan’s public comments, as well as his submissions to the Licensing Board on the matter, it is clear that he has taken every opportunity to misrepresent the purpose of the fanzone and the excellent work which Rangers do to support the local community. Mr Dornan’s attitude towards Rangers and our supporters shows a level of ignorance and malice which does not reflect well on him, either personally or in his role as councillor for Govan. However, our understanding is that his lobbying efforts had been unsuccessful until the late intervention of his colleagues. Despite council officials and Glasgow Life - who have vast experience of holding major sporting events in the city - being fully supportive, these individuals appear to have used their positions to circumvent due process. In recent days Rangers have received support on this matter from across the political spectrum. This has shone a light on these activities and we thank those involved for having the integrity to speak out publicly.Having been in close contact with Rangers regarding the Fanzone for a number of months, and having ourselves provided a submission as part of the licence application, we are pleased that the club is refusing to accept the situation as it stands. We will continue to work closely with them to ensure that facilities for our supporters at Ibrox improve over the coming months and years, regardless of any attempts to hinder that progress.Issued by Supporters Voice Limited, a Club 1872 companyClub 1872

  10. I think it is great for us - raises our profile once again and inflates his price. It also shows other South Americans that you can get a call up for your country whilst playing for Rangers.

  13. I understand your general point Bill but this thread has been used to record countless examples of biased and/or unfair coverage of Rangers. Only last week Tom English flatly denied there was any bias and asked for examples. Surely you see a benefit in having a record of some examples in a thread like this?

  14. Took United to second place and won a diddy cup last season. Quite good. Better than every other club in England except City. But with the players he had they should have been much closer to the champions. He just has a limited shelf life at any one club.

  18. Correct. Instead of whining about how badly we're treated and fretting over how we might persuade the BBC to look on us more favourably, we should be stepping up our efforts on and off the pitch. A successful Rangers lording it over Celtic is the best revenge we could ever get. Until then we should be taking every opportunity to ridicule the PQ mob, both as a club and as a support.

  19. Aside from any political persuasion I find it astonishing that someone can be a Glasgow councillor and profess an interest in football but not know the history of the Loving Cup ceremony or what it means today. This man is supposed to represent the people of Glasgow, all the people. How is it possible to be ignorant of this? As a club we need to be smarter politically. I wonder if we've ever invited Nicola Sturgeon to the Loving Cup ceremony? We should, aside from being First Minister she's an MSP for Glasgow South, and Humza Yousaf MSP for Glasgow Pollok. They might say no of course, but that's on them. I could see a number of the crowd less than happy, but that's on us. Any First Minister should attend important matches at Ibrox, particularly if it's in their constituency and The Loving Cup ceremony should transcend politics, religion or belief. Our history is as important as everyone else's we should evangelise more.

  26. I don't want to get into this tbh but I had to laugh at the idea of Frank McCaveety fighting our corner? Are you having a laugh? If he was still at GCC he would hace tossed this application in the bin with his lunch wrappers then pissed on it. He's only doing this to ruffle the feathers of the SNP council as Labour are still smarting as losing their "jobs for lives" position at GCC.

  27. Well done stewarty, i live in England and my local MP is a Conservative, but if i still lived in Scotland that would be my course of action, however i will send an email of to Glasgow Life asking that this bigot be removed from his position within said organisation.

  28. Well, while the reverse of the fixture list of last season, i.e. first away to the Scum, the Sheep and Hibs, the games we got first were sure of no help. Starting away to Aberdeen, then going to a ground where hardly anyone of the OF picked up many points last season and then away to them at the weekend after a 6.000 km journey on Thursday night / Friday. Obviously, no-one "could have foreseen" that we'd still be in Europe by now, but likewise, one might have spread the difficult ties over the first quarter of the season, rather than pack them in the midst of our European campaign. Given that it would ease the task for any Scottish side. They can do it with the league cup too, as we know. But ever since 2008 I have lost any respect or faith into anything SFA and SPFL ... and they have made sure time and again that this is very much alive and kicking.

  30. Who cares where a player comes from, what his nationality, colour or religion is? I only care whether or not he is available at a reasonable price and has the skills and commitment to make a positive contribution to Rangers.

  31. If lawwell really voted for a reduction in the likelyhood of scottish teams getting to the cl group stages he should have his fit and proper person status revoked and be forcibly removed from scottish football. I doubt he did though. Can we evidence him doing so?

  33. Why do you think that they are introducing a new 'Scotland' channel imminently? They as an organisation play a huge part in shaping hearts and minds. PQ wields more influence than the casual viewer would give credence to. If people like Tom Devine are invited on to any given platform to give us all the benefit of his wisdom, inevitably some will be influenced by his 'truth'. And Tom is one of many such agenda shapers deployed by the BBC PQ mandarins. To that end, anyone who thinks that the BBC is an irrelevance in both narrow and wider senses, is naïve in the extreme imho.

  34. Let's not be naive. The EU were never going to make it easy and give any country a gold-plated withdrawal, thus encouraging a queue to form. We are not being punished by Brussels, we are facing the natural and predictable consequences of a Leave vote.

  35. We were warned, but a hell of a lot of people refused to listen, I never heard one single financial expert even attempt to paint Brexit as a good idea, but people have chosen to ignore experts, and believe power crazed fuckwits such as Gove and Johnson, and their bus ad drivel. Brussels is only doing what we knew they would, we need to look a hell of a lot closer to home if there's blame to be shovelled out.
