Lafferty added in the OP, as well as Burt being loaned to Alloa for a season. That's 23 players sold, let go, or loaned from last season's side ... and 12 signed permanently or on loan.3 points

Just a pity the police never had them on sectarian singing charge, they would have been found guilty and locked up.2 points

When we play at our best, i.e. the best we have seen this season, I dare to say that we can beat any Scottish team. We sure should be able to go there and get three points. The big problem we had last season was that we didn't have enough creativity and finishing power to break entrenched teams down as well as clinging on to narrow winning margins. It was in many ways a season of lost chances, rather than utter failure. Paramount this time around could be that we need to score first (and hopefully twice), so teams like Motherwell need to open up and thus are vulnerable to counter attacks. On a sidenote, the Goldson, Katic, McGregor - triangle at the back looks so comfortable that it defies belief. Must give the players in front of them so much confidence ...2 points

A number of our friends in the Scottish mhedia are congratulating SG on a 'mature' and/or 'classy' response to the Motherwell Captain's remarks on Bowman's assault on Cardoso. Some, however, are pointing out that SG referred to the loudmouth as a "kid", and that Hartley is actually 30 years of age. (Yes; he is. Really.) I concluded, some time ago, that our manager is nobody's fool, and a pretty honest, direct, and shrewd operator. It is extremely unlikely that he did not realise that he was talking about a grown man, albeit a rather stupid and immature version, and that he quite neatly put him down, without, perhaps appearing to do so.2 points

I played tennis when I was younger. It is an incredibly difficult sport to be good at, without a doubt. I remember reading about Andre Agassi hammering US fighter pilots on the reaction training simulators and wasn't remotely surprised. To see a Bear doing well at anything is always good news. All the best, Luke!2 points

Would be good to get a proper match preview up over the next day or two so please remember everyone is welcome to submit one - for use on the main site or not. In the meantime, here's a possible team for Sunday's trip to Fir Park. I know the manager is keen to rotate his squad where possible but I do wonder if he'd like to try and get some attacking consistency into his team selection. In saying that it wouldn't surprise me if we see the likes of Lafferty and Middleton start in attacking roles whilst Andy Halliday might fancy his chances of making the team too with Ross McCrorie unavailable due to suspension. The quicker we can get Coulibaly and Rossiter fit the better as well with the former doing some light training today.1 point

While I would be over the moon with a win, I would take a draw on the heels of the trip to Ufa. A draw maintains our momentum and will make them continue to question their defence and what Brenda's plan is. Given where we are and the run of fixtures if someone had offered me qualification for the EL group stages and a draw at the Piggery I would have bitten their hand off a month ago. I'll stick with that. However a win would pop their balloon big time and full on panic would be there for all to see.1 point

The general consensus seems to be we'd be content with a draw, delighted with a win and a loss...well, a loss to them is always the same. To be honest, I've always felt like this prior to matches at the Piggery. We play them at Ibrox = must win. We play them there = must not lose.1 point

I think the Gerrard appointment has been good for concentrating the minds of the movers and shakers, who in turn have given the OK for such a lot of generally costly movement, both in and out. Busy times for the football operation and they appear to have been concentrating more, as well.1 point

I have to commend the restraint shown by my fellow Bears who actually meet Whyte in person (one way or another) and haven't readjusted his face et al.1 point

Plus we have a 1 point advantage over them. We’d be happier with a point than they would.1 point

Last fellows to do it were United 07/08 and 08/09. Since the war they have won the title in consecutive seasons three times and in three consecutive seasons twice. Liverpool have done consecutive seasons twice and three consecutive seasons once. The title didn’t leave the city of Liverpool between 81/82 and 87/88. Other back to back winners are Portsmouth, Wolves and Chelsea. No Arsenal.1 point

Man Utd had many years of success under Sir Alex Ferguson but it seems as though their board are determined to give others a chance now through three bad managerial appointments. 1. Ferguson nomination but Moyes wasn't backed by a less convinced board and what happened was inevitable. 2. Van Gaal is yesterdays man and his chartacter made for media confrontation and ridicule. Was backed and wasted a lot of money doing little better than Moyes. 3. Mourinho, 10 years earlier and maybe but The Miserable One is now past his sell-by date and causes trouble in proportion with his salary. It's not as if it's anything new, it happened at Real Madrid and Chelsea. Loads of money wasted. That isn't hindsight. I said the same as the appointments were made on historic threads on here. To me their board need to have a word with themselves and look to own some of the responsibility.1 point

Used to be a fixture you would look forward to when the steelmen had players like Quinn and St John later our very own Davie Cooper plating for them but these days it's like an Aberdeen match with players coming out injured by some wild tackles ,that doesn't bother me I am old as I say it was a man's game in my day if someone went over the top you got him back in the next fixture with a bit added for good measure we didn't cry like children and our fans didn't moan like old women but we remembered that player and gave him the bird in the next game not these days to many Jessies on the pitches so we will have to be solid in the tackle on Sunday but as clean as a virgins knickers and not even give a dirty look as the referees as we know will give us nothing it will be tight that's why I say we will win two goals to one ..1 point

Maybe I have rosey blue tinted specs on but in my opinion, Katic and Goldson have been strolling through matches. Central defenders shouldn't need rested too often.1 point
