  1. I, for one, enjoy 26th taking on mantle of reporting back for the rest of us. Keep your enemies close and all that...

  3. It's cost of over 3 1/2 million to get increased terms how long will that take to recoup? Got rid of Puma you jest surely? We've replaced a finite termination date with an infinite one, to paraphrase The Eagles " welcome to the Hotel Sports Direct you can check out any time you like but you can never leave." Do you seriously think SD went to court expecting to get everything they wanted? They're playing a game one at which they're very experienced and adept at. Rangers capitulated I expect Ashley was delighted by yesterday's result. Disclosing the original deal would benefit our current position in what way? The Judge may have his concerns but there is nothing he can do about it as long as what SD are doing is legal. A thousand cuts you say we haven't even drawn blood yet. From Ashley's point of view slowly works perfectly well given to him it has nothing to do with money now.

  5. I think it is the only thing that is clear is that someone got it wrong somewhere. Another lesson should be is : Don't blow your trumpet in public until you can play it.

  6. I think that would one of two benchmarks for me regarding any suggested boycott. Boycott merchandise which is being released in accordance with a deal we signed in spring 2017 ? The other concern would be another boycott on shirt sales - I would be worried that potential kit suppliers might view us as a risk not worth taking in the forseeable future.

  7. Until the board advise you that the ‘new’ contract does not include a rolling matching deal no one should buy a kit. The judge clearly stated that the 2017 contract was valid with the exception of the price being subject to counter offers. How much time do you have to spend on notice boards to understand that fact? If before the final hearing yesterday Rangers and SD agreed something different then we need to know. The silence from Rangers is deafening and the facts as we know them until our Board state otherwise are that we are in this ridiculous rolling matching deal. To be clear in 2 years we will not receive any counter offers because no other distributor will compete in this loaded market.

  8. Don't get me wrong, but of late, you do show a certain negative tendency when it comes to the dealings of our board et al? Once more "mindreading" SG when he speaks of wanting a striker and a CH now ... as a marker send to the Board to act. When it - in all likelihood - wasn't anything more than uttering a normal wish of slots he wants to fill. More generally ... Thus far, the board delivered us SG and all his coaches et al, as well as 10 players. Much of the "deadwood" has been transferred out one way or another, yet, people snap at heels if something does not go "according to plan" instantly. It's not like jumping around and singing praises 24/7, but some sort of objectivity would be helpful. That said, should Osijek manage to sneak away with a decisive win, I reckon SG will face the - by now normal - storm in his face, when quite a few will snap and lose sight of the greater picture.

  9. I think we should be grateful that 26th of Foot lends us his ears, so regularly. Of course, one has to ask just what kind of previous deplorable sin-filled lives he led, to have such a burden upon him in this one.

  10. So radio Clyde Super Scoreboard started back for the new season last night. 1st call on, a Ceptic fan....calling about, Rangers!!!! (there's a surprise for you). Going into detail about how he's not been impressed with the team so far (after watching a few of the games), and doesn't think there's been any improvement from last season.

  13. Good listen guys. Really enjoyed the topics later on. Really hit the nail on the head in my opinion. Celtic have been ripping the piss for years with us and the "old firm" fixture. They realised its easier to undermine us and sell hate to their support i.e. no old firm, no Rangers, you cheated etc. With us conveniently out of the way it gave them easy money and trophies. Like Colin said it's been an "aggressive" tone from them. Aggressive. Dismissive. Undermining. The effigies, moon-howling and assaults are all symptoms of this. It's a worrying trend. Very divisive stuff. Not unrelated, others have followed celtics lead. Dornan just the latest doing his bit for the cause. The SNP. Press pack. As pointed out, the suspect monies and allowances thrown at parkhead recently have been obscene. They have an army of puppets lining up to out do each other for them and against us. This is bigotry is action - and for me ten times worse than a few bad words between rival fans in 90mins. This is ow actually affecting peoples real lives in the professional and political sphere. They were able to bring in new laws and then get them repealed on a whim. It's new ground way beyond on anything before in our history. Murray made some comments about spending £10 and that's about as far as we took it before. Their response is mental. Rabid. No-one will ever call out them out unless we start pointing it out. Aberdeen, Hibs, Hearts seem to willingly join in but i genuinely don't think they realise half of whats going on with celtic. Therefore, the club has to be public with this. It's politics and we'll get laughed if we try and reason our way through it with people not interested in being reasonable with us.

  15. Of course, SD has to match -or even better (don't laugh)- the terms and conditions proposed by JD Sports, whom I think were the preferred candidate as retail partner. This, it seems, was part of the price to the Club for divesting itself of the scandalous and scandalously onerous contract with SD negotiated by the previous Board of chancers. I wonder what its legal advice was (I can guess) and why it ignored it (I can guess that too). Any deal which emerges from SD is not 7p-in-the-pound redux, but an entirely new contract. Last year, King hinted at the possibility of SD being involved again. The problems are, inter alia: -the Club has spent six figures in legals and expenses, only to -have to- settle out of court, and have to pick up a similar, if not greater, sum by way of SD's legals and expenses; -the Club may have to enter into a contract with SD, making SD its retail partner, which associates it with El Gordo and his outfit, something which, to quote someone from a long time ago, in what seems like a galaxy far, far away, may "..besmirch the good name of the Club", and affect income in consequence; -the Club may have to enter into a contract despite the leading personalities, in each organisation, clashing like cymbals; -the Club may have to enter into a contract, the terms and conditions of which will be pored over, continually, by both parties in the hope of finding a breach on which to capitalise -Gessler and his little helpers are a bunch of cunts, and may not be trusted I can hope, only, that there is some material matter within the JD offer -say infrastructure provision, or advertising + marketing strategy, or distribution, or even a slight financial edge- which will enable the Board to declare that Fat Boy Slime has failed to match the preferred offer. (If only it were so simple, but I live in hope that the Board has been cute enough to make this play a possibility.)

  17. Of course it's incompetence whether that be by the Board or the legal team isn't exactly clear but ultimate responsibility falls to the Board who after all they would have gathered the plaudits had their strategy proved fruitful. My strategy is irrelevant I didn't get us to where we are today that was the Board and it is they who have failed to extradite us from the clutches of Ashley despite intimating to us that they had. I'm about as far as you get from being a critic of the Board but by the same token I don't submit to having blind faith in them either. If you don't think they've erred in this instance so be it carry on with the delusion.

  18. I agree the Board will be aware. Legal teams deal with the actual law and commercial teams construct contracts and obligations taking account of legal advice. All of this is based on what the clients want. There is no doubt in my mind that the Board will have been advised of the clauses relating to matching terms and the rolling contracts when they paid the £3m to terminate the previous deal. They have either failed to grasp what is going on, or understood and accepted because they have done the sums, they have been conned, or they have a cunning plan. My bet is a combination of being conned and a failure to grasp. Don’t forget it was SD which went to court not Rangers. SD had this sussed we didn’t. There will be no end of spreadsheets evaluating different scenarios on which the decisions have been made but without any comment from the Board on this new deal it looks like we have failed to release ourselves from this rolling matching contract which is a disaster in terms of optimising revenue from kit sales. I wonder if we shouldn’t just tell SD ‘sorry we’re not producing any kit this year’. I can’t understand why we want a deal on these terms. There must be a way to get the tens and hundreds of £s our fans would spend on kits redirected elsewhere. Do we really need kits resales? ManU or Real Madrid might benefit by selling massive numbers but I wonder if this few pence in a £ is right for us. It’s just not worth it unless we get a better deal. £50 or £60 a shirt is a lot of money and the club gets peanuts. Spend the money elsewhere. That needs to be the strateg until SD go away.

  19. I'm all for a good conspiracy theory but accusing the PA of skewing a court report to damage us is f*&king nuts, if you're that concerned seek out the transcript as far as I'm aware it should be publicly available.

  24. I'd be happy enough with Lafferty as another option up front, obviously a Rangers fan, runs himself into the ground for the team, decent at set pieces, good record against them last season, still only 30, a yes from me :)

  25. dart, i think it may be more accurate to say that most fans believed we would part ways with sd in 2018 or at least have an opportunity to do so. i certainly thought this was the case and the club statement at the time mentioned no fixed term to new deal. whilst this is technically accurate the reality is somewhat different. good grief, its just cost 1/2 a mill to contest a contract we signed just over a year ago.

  26. I still cant understand why some fans thought we had severed ties with SD - we hadnt, we had re-negotiated the deal to terms which were more favourable to us. Not perfect by any means, but certainly not a parting of the ways. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40358177

  27. The club is indrectly looking to apply lipstick to a pig,.... but the pig is still Mike Ashely, he's better advised than we are and like the Pedro Caixinha fall-out, we'll be affected by it for the forseeable. You have to wonder about our executive management, our finances and the ongoing sustainabilty. I think we really need European group stage football this season.

  28. Thats the problem here. You cant just tear up existing or amended contracts without compensation you have to at least attempt to negotiate out of them and even then there may be compensation to be paid. I dislike this SDI organisation as much as the next man however getting all emotional about legal issues needs to be tempered and reading between the lines I can see how much of a bag of shite the current board inherited when they took over and thank f&*k the took over when they did too!

  33. I've been critical of the board for certain things for a while now (see only Gersnet article I have wrote, December 2017). Lately, I've seen more things that suggest to me that we are not well run as a business. So, you are right regards negativity.............. If it's what I see, then that's what I'll say. Siege mentality won't solve problems, it'll more than likely delay meaningful attempts to solve them. ------------------- As for the footbal operation and SG&Co, in particular I've been very clear that we need patience and reasonable expectations. He needs 18 months and 3 transfer windows before we can really expect to see the 'flowering of buds'. On the way towards that, steady improvement should suffice.

  34. I'd have thought we may have to reduce or hold back on the budget given uncertainties/costs arising in projected revenue.

  35. Many fans will not buy from SD so sales will suffer. SD have not given us a deal, and there is no deadline for that, so we will have to wait until that happens, so sales will suffer due to the delay.

  38. From FF Today’s decision in court is not the final episode in the fight to cleanse the club of the stench and stain of Sports Direct. Reports in this evening’s media are selective and tendentious. As a whole it leaves Rangers in a slightly better place than they were last week, but still under the shadow of further court action. The only journalist from the mainstream media present in court appeared to be Brian Farmer from the Press Association and his report – circulated to newsrooms and providing the basis for coverage I’ve heard or seen so far – does not tell the whole story. Most importantly, Sports Direct failed to have the contract which they must match with a similar offer, split into three parts. It would have suited them to pick and choose the most profitable parts of the retail operation. The costs awarded also relate to other cases, as well as this one, which have been ongoing but which couldn’t be mentioned until today’s case was declared upon. The main point of contention remains – Sports Direct must now match the best offer Rangers have received. Sports Direct were also trying to obtain an extended injunction – that too failed. The judge similarly threw out a Sports Direct attempt to obtain the documents pertaining to the other bid. His Lordship spoke in open court about Sports Direct’s approach in business in certain areas being a desperately bad way to conduct business. There was reference to ‘messing around’ and concerns were expressed to the Sports Direct counsel that the judge had a concern about his client’s thought processes. Pressure is obviously on to conclude a deal as the league season approaches and the time for Sports Direct to continue dragging their heels is short ahead of that. The ball is now back in play between Rangers and Sports Direct to find a solution. There is no stated deadline by which agreement has to be made. I expect this will end in more court appearances. Meanwhile – fans must maintain their boycott of the Rangers Megastore and Sports Direct ahead of any final settlement. The behaviour of Sports Direct over the years has been disgraceful and should never be forgotten or forgiven by fans. Rangers will never maximise their retail returns until Sports Direct are gone.

  39. they were appraised of the material terms and were able to match those conditions, they were probably entitled to see the incidental details too, hence the settlement. rangers paid sd 3 mill for this retail millstone, honestly, it makes me worried about the competency of our legal advisors and as a shareholders gives me little confidence in our governance.
