Perfect example of this was the Hibs game last season (when Beaton cheated us). Guy in front of me absolutely howling at Windass for not tracking back to help cover.... but at that exact same time I had noticed Windass had started tracking back and looked across to the dugout and Pedro was screaming at him to NOT track back - we were down by a couple of goals at the time, and obviously a man down, but Pedro wanted Windass to offer Herrera support up front - guy in front spent the rest of the game calling Windass a "lazy bastard" - which was clearly not the case - though I guarantee many thousands left that day saying the same thing about Windass. Windass WAS prepared to track back and help out defensively, but his instructions from the sidelines were to stay up front to offer assistance to Herrera if the ball broke. Some fans refuse to see any of this though - they have their own set way of how a player should act and react - and it doesn't even matter if the player is following the manager's instructions because said fans need them to be performing their way...…3 points

I think he is referring to Pedro as the prat rather than Herrera. Seems fair enough to me, although my biggest criticism is to those who appointed Pedro in the first place.2 points

I actually said few weeks mate then was subsequently banned for telling people to stop pissing their pants & overreacting he got a wee knock during game & reckons he’ll back in two weeks2 points

English market very seldom represents value for money, it's loco ! We need to develop scouting contacts in other countries.2 points

Given our experiences over the years, the lack of info about the injury sounds ominous. Anyone know what it is ?2 points

Thanks Dart, info like that always makes one dig a wee bit deeper, every days a school day. Alex Craig was born in Galway in 1886 and was the first player born in what is now the Republic of Ireland to play for Rangers. Craig made 102 appearances for Rangers between 1904 and 1911 before joining Greenock Morton. He returned to Rangers in 1914 where he made a further 42 appearances over the following two years. Craig’s career pre-dated the foundation of the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) and the Republic of Ireland team that we know today. However, he won 9 international caps for the then Ireland team that was run by the Belfast-based Irish Football Association (IFA). Craig’s time at Rangers briefly coincided with the arrival of a second player at Rangers who was born in the Republic of Ireland. James Lowry-Macauley hailed from Portarlington in County Laois and signed for Rangers in 1910. He made a single appearance for the club before later playing for Huddersfield Town and Preston North End. Lowry-Macauley’s international career included 6 caps for the IFA-run Ireland team of that time. The first and to date only Rangers player to win full caps for the Republic of Ireland senior team was Alex Stevenson who was born in Dublin in 1912. He played 12 times for Rangers between 1932 and 1934 and the records indicate that he scored 7 goals during his time with the club. Stevenson is one of those few players that simultaneously represented both the FAI and IFA-run teams during the 1930’s and 1940’s.2 points

What about this empty threat being banded about over the sceptic crest? Come Rousseau get it done? dB was last and I have just wiped the sweat off my arse!!2 points
-
It's all very subjective. Rousseau thinks Windass is the Messiah and I think he's a very naughty boy. I tend to take things at a very base level and ignore stats and things like that. Gut instinct. But your points about the player make sense and I was disappointed, overall, on Thursday...so that maybe coloured my judgement of the lad.1 point
-
I didn't think he looked clumsy, he has some nice control and Its entirely possible that he was exceptionally nervous. Don't forget he's a young lad making his début in front of 51k Rangers supporters who are frustrated and unhappy at the score only being 1-0 at the time. As I say he did grow into it more when Middleton came on so maybe I'm being overly harsh on him but as I say I only got 'squad player' vibe from what I did see of him.1 point
-
Unlike a lot of the support who thought he was great I seen nothing in the lad that would suggest he'll be anything other than a squad player. Apart from a couple of nice feints and an possible pen he more or less just walked about. Theres no doubt about it that he showed flashes of decent feet and control but not enough for me for the length of time he was on the park, 25 mins, supposedly as replacement for Arfield who had been the link between mid/forwards. It wasn't until Middleton came on that he started to do anything and even then there was one break where he runs 30 yards towards goal carrying the ball and hits it straight off the defender when its easier to go round him or take it to either side and lay it off. I suspect we'll see one from McRorie, Rossiter as the link between def/mid Coulibaly as the destroyer and one from Jack, Candeias, Arfield as #8. In front of them I think we'll see Murphy, Middleton interchanged on one side of the park with Windass and The Flute being the same scenario on the other. There are possibilities to use Murphy as the #8 and Caneias as the outside (Windass position) of the front three also but Morelos for now (until we sign a CF) will be our #9.1 point

We could win trophies AND then sell players at a tidy profit. The Tims are doing just that, so there's no reason why we can't.1 point
-
That really gets the blood pumping as opposed to, say, signing players who will win us trophies.1 point
-
We signed Windass to develop him & sell him on. He was a much improved player last season. Our 2nd top scorer. if he improves again this season we’ll make a tidy profit on him when he inevitably gets sold1 point

He was a rangers player that appeared to do his best (which wasn't good enough). I think he deserves to be thanked and wished well rather than calling him a prat. Don't you?1 point
-
Going with the same midfield and attack as last season doesn't fill me with much enthusiasm. Any word on when Rossiter will be fit again?1 point
-
Midfield could do with a shuffle anyway. Plus docherty deserves a game due to being the fittest player back from pre season. Dedication should be rewarded. Though most likely jack or the boy from Liverpool will slot in. Plenty of cover as you say1 point
-
Is it really a big deal anyway? Midfield is the one area where we have plenty of cover.1 point

How dare you say Rangers fans over react! We are nothing if not calm and composed ?? Two weeks you say? That will be us out Europe , the league gone, Gerrard sacked and the end of all hope then???1 point

According to ID10 on FF just jarred his knee. 3-4 weeks1 point

Was his knee as they put an ice pack on immediately after he left the field/ Know nothing other than that !1 point

I remember saying on the match thread that I was concerned by him playing on while injured. Another thing of which we have experience.1 point

WRT Windass.....I think his contribution would be missed, if he wasn't there. I just don't get all the bad feeling towards him - he works hard & scores goals....what more are folk realistically wanting from him? Plenty of examples of players over the years that have regularly "gone missing" during games, only to pop up & score or show a flash of brilliance. Folk also need to take into account the manager/coaches instructions to a player - how does HE expect him to perform?? Certainly players may be told NOT to track back for example. I think if Windass is played more in a central "free" role, folk mat see a different, more creative side.1 point

Remember when Alex McDonald joined from St Johnstone he got the same treatment from a section of fans we stuck with him and doddie came good really good , so let's give the new manager a chance and see if he can get the best out of the player .1 point

Windas was clearly excellent i a dozen or so games last year. He just needs to get that number up. More consistency.1 point
-
You're just making stuff up now. "Awful team player"? He works his socks off making runs in behind for his teammates; he's constantly moving. "Pretty boy"? Yes... "Hides"? I think the word is wrong, but he does go missing in games sometimes; that's not always down to him. "Wee tricks"? I don't recall him ever doing any tricks. If by tricks you mean goals and assists, then long may it continue. You could also ask, what is it that FOUR managers have seen, that the expert, 'Shug fae glesga', has not? I think i'd trust a manager over Shug.1 point

I lost a fair bit of respect for Griezmann with the dive for the first. Second wasn’t a penalty IMO. That final left a sour taste in the mouth.1 point

Kudos for the winner and Rousseau to keep it all up. + + + The French then. Cheat their way to the free-kick to score from. Go bananas at the ref because of a hand-ball to get a soft to dubious penalty. Dance like a madman because scoring with the penalty. Act "totally clever and cool" by lettting the underdog play football while sitting back, soaking up pressure and hit the underdog on the counter ... AND THEN ... manage to concede a freak goal to deny me the second correct score of the tournament. Total tosspotts! We sure had some good games and moments during this World Cup, but the behaviour by those who are supposedly the best out there - be they French, Brazilian or whatever - left a bad taste in the mouth.1 point

Wasn't at the game, but watched it on the tv, and i couldn't distinguish between the excitement levels for Middleton coming on ,and Windass going off. Dare say it was different at the match, and there is obviously something to it , but didn't come across at the time as Windass getting jeered ,.. still ,right decision to take him off though.1 point

Jeanette is a senior lecturer at Glasgow University, I believe she is a member of the Economics faculty. She is not gay, she was named a decade past as the other woman in a divorce action. Apparently, she had been having an affair with the Chair of ra Sellik supporters association for a few years. I cannot remember his name, but he was married with five children.1 point

You ever go over to a person's house and when you move your hand to pet their dog it winks its eye and dips its head? You know why it does that? Cause somebody in that house whips the shit out of it. You kinda remind me of that dog.1 point

That surely makes us the real CL runners up with Liverpool relegated to a bronze, factoid.1 point

English commentators commentating on England's participation in the world cup annoying you? DrStu' has the solution, "there's a good fish restaurant in the Calton, A'Challtain that turns the volume down on their screen, allows you to watch the game, whilst jazz funk is played over the PA". John Beattie suggests DrStu' should forget about English commentators, "ah cannae, we shouldn't forget about them", mumbles the denizen of Dennistoun. In his advancing years, DrStu' appears riven by forgetfulness, A'Challitain is ten yards from the Squirrel Bar, HQ of the Green Brigade. You can enjoy monkfish wrapped in pancetta with an effigy wrapped in a Rangers scarf hanging on the side. I wonder if Cannon Tom White at St Alophonsus(ten yards the other side of the Squirrel Bar) and the balaclava wearing hordes get down on the one, stone grooving on the jazz funk? Do DrStu', Cannon Tom, and the Green Brigade march to the same tune? We should be told. Yesterday, DrStu' was boastful of his constant support for Croatia, small nation fighting for it's independence; over throwing their Serbian oppressors. Of course, Croatia was independent during the war, both the Nazis and Mussolini granted their freedom to purify their country. The Ustase loved their work, cheered on by the Croatian rc church. After the war, the most efficient Nazi escape lines to South America were administered by the Ustase and their cheerleaders. We shouldn't forget about that amid the flag waving nationalism. Connie McLaughlin returned to PQ airwaves yesterday, another shill for Celtic FC; she was anxious to flash her 'inner buzz' credentials, and her introduction included, "well, it's not exactly a full house here today at Celtic Park". I guess we will have to wait for the attendance figures for yesterday's friendly against Standard Liege to emerge? Another PQ stalwart re-appeared to help co-present Dr Stu's show, Annie McGuire interspersed her obsession with her six year old daughter with a few digs at Rangers. No longer is Annie riling against the Reformation or proclaiming, "Celtic are a lovely club, full of ethics"; she has joined DrStu' as a practitioner of careful hate. The guests were Lana Clelland, a forward for Fiorentina Ladies and Darren McGarvey(author of Poverty Safari). Lana is a Rangers supporter, attended Thursday night's game and proclaimed herself disappointed. Annie chortled as she offered, "but you'd say you were making Progres". Lana handled herself well, deserves far more exposure. I recommend McGarvey's tome, it's a good interesting read. It's not the successor to Rowntree's sponsored surveys of poverty in York in the late 19th/early 20th centuries that some have promoted, but is a worthy winner of the Orwell Prize. Darren sounds fragile, he is a recovering from a number of addictions. I suspect his appearance was to raise his profile, hie summed up his football involvement in a line where he admitted to attending Sellik Park with his granny, then telling all his school mates were Rangers supporters. He liked the pies at ra Stydome and feels sorry for the service industries around Ibrox, the economic impact of smaller crowds? Credit to DrStu' and Lana for pointing out Rangers crowds have not diminished. The Orwell Prize is prodigious, a number of prizes are awarded for making political writing an art form, just like George's tomes. Darren was honest in not being really aware of it, but enjoyed the experience. Of course, another winner of the Orwell Prize was the Rangers Tax Case Blog. DrStu's constant refrain is transparency, he wants transparency in political life and in football life. As Rangers supporters we still don't know whose mantle piece hosts the trophy? DrStu' or his nomme de guerre, 'Sarah Leyden'(his Donegal born maternal gran) was a regular contributor to the RTC Blog, as were a number of well known Scots journos. However, DrStu' has stated on a number of occasions on Auntie Beeb that the RTC Blog is old news and we should all forget about it. Hhhhmm, transparency? We should not forget about it, why should we be left hanging like those effigies above the north stand. Is that DrStu's postioning of the Rangers support, strange fruit twisting in the breeze? Again, we should be told.1 point
