  1. What we're seeing is a concerted effort not to have to sack someone, in the hope that voluntary resignations will stop the full facts ever being uncovered.

  2. I seen that rumour on FF earlier, however there is no confirmation as yet!. I have no problem with that as long as the deal is a good one.

  3. Anyone else think we're due another bout of fake news? Maybe a tenuous link to something related to certain court cases? Rest assured they wont be enjoying the fact we're signing players, getting more attention from the media down south due to Stevie G, new strips about to launch, possible new retail deals and finally ridding ourselves of the toxic Sports Direct...

  8. All this stuff re place-men is part of the reason I still have a beef with Murray. When he handed over the reins he left a power vacuum which that lot eagerly filled. They may have been conspiring in the background with strategic position filling, but when Martin Bain ceased to be in the corridors of power they pounced and immediately trained their sights on Campbell Ogilvie. It'll take some time to re-dress the balance and I look forward to the day when we are back on top in more ways than one, it can't come quickly enough.

  9. Perhaps the arrival of a new chief exec. at the SFA was enough to convince the rhats there it was time to go. An incoming chief exec. with any sort of integrity & business acumen could see the damage these people were doing. Regan & Hughes have already gone& McGlennan is going. Next on the new chief exec’s list should be refs supervisor John Fleming.Who is he & how did he get the job ? Do I detect yahoo influence again ??

  10. I suppose we have to be happy with recent activity. We spent the entire season bitching about the defence and largely the central defence. That appears to have been dealt with. Given that we were already the highest scoring team in the league throw in a striker and we're definitely making good progress this window. Has to be done as quickly as possible since we have a Europa qualifier in just over 4 weeks. Then we can all start bitching again. Hopefully about winning 5-0 and it should have been at least 8.

  11. If this is true then it's been a good start to the transfer season. Hopefully it won't be too long before we see a few going out.

  13. Jeezo these 'journalists' sure know how to mangle the facts. It is true that he had conducted an 8 month investigation before issuing these charges but that was on another matter that they found was entirely baseless. They then decided to try another approach with these two charges. It might not seem like a huge alteration but it is an alteration of the facts as they stand and also colours the readers perspective into the new charges veracity. It must be true they investigated it for 8 months before they charged them!

  18. The Scottish Football Association will this week begin the search for a new compliance officer after Tony McGlennan tendered his resignation. Lawyer McGlennan has been with the governing body since 2014 but has now decided to return to private practice and will leave the SFA in late summer. He will be involved in the recruitment process for his successor before leaving Hampden. The role was created seven years ago under Stewart Regan, the former chief executive of the SFA, and involves reviewing reported incidents from across Scottish football with a view to applying retrospective disciplinary action. The compliance officer initiates charges which are then decided upon by an independent judicial panel. Inevitably the role attracts frequent criticism from managers, players and clubs over which incidents are highlighted for disciplinary action. The first compliance officer was another lawyer, Vincent Lunny, who served the SFA from 2011 until 2014. One of McGlennan’s last acts was among his most controversial, when he issued two charges against Rangers for alleging breaches of SFA regulations relating to how the club obtained a Uefa licence to play European football in 2011. He had conducted an eight-month investigation into the episode before he issued the charges. The principal hearing into the case will be on June 26, with Rangers having said the club will “fiercely resist” what it called “ridiculous” charges. McGlennan was a solicitor advocate who joined the SFA from the law firm Penmans, with whom he had been a partner since 1998.

  19. You can guarantee that the scummy mhedia here will be all over this perceived diving before he has even played a minute of football for us, and therefore will be getting yellow carded for diving for any foul committed against him. If someone has that type of reputation, we cannot afford to bring him to our club due to the state/bias of our referees. Its the same as signing Ryan Jack - the perceived hardman - who has had 3 or 4 red cards in a handful of games for us. The fact most were rescinded doesnt matter, it cost us points.

  21. RANGERS Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of 21-year-old Croatian defender Nikola Katić from Slaven Belupo on a four-year deal. The 6ft 4in former Under-21 internationalist is highly rated in his homeland and was capped for the first time by Croatia’s senior side in a friendly against Mexico in May 2017. A towering centre-half born in Ljubuški, Katić started his football career at HNK Stolac in Bosnia and Herzegovina before moving to Neretvanac in Opuzen, Croatia, in 2014. In February 2016 he joined Slaven Belupo in the northern city of Koprivnica, a club that finished seventh in the Croatian First Football League in 2017/18. Katić made 34 appearances last season and for several games took on the responsibility of being captain in the absence of the experienced Vedrun Purić. After signing his four-year contract at Ibrox today Nikola becomes the fourth Croatian to play for Rangers, following in the footsteps of Dado Pršo, Nikica Jelavić and Niko Kranjčar. https://rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/rangers-sign-nikola-katic/

  22. I liked the fake news regarding the latest signing. Especially the one on the Celtic website. There has been a lot of egg all over some faces today!

  23. All well and good... except you could apply the exact same things to Davie Weir, except Weir had played in Scotland far, far more recently than McAllister. And Weir didn't do a great deal to have us competing with Celtic again. I'm just not seeing having a Scottish #2 as being some masterstroke, particularly when that #2 hasn't played in Scotland for 30 years, and never managed here - though some would argue that is actually a GOOD thing

  24. Can I just ask, and this is probably a stupid question, but where are we getting this "McAllister knows the Scottish game very well" from ? He played 70 games for Motherwell and his last game in Scotland (aside from internationals) was in 1985 - 33 years ago !!! How does that translate into him knowing the Scottish game well ?

  26. Everybody under estimates Scottish football so I have the same worry! however his number 2/assistant knows the Scottish game very well, plus the fact that SG knows he is in the spotlight worldwide and is hungry so hopefully he knows what players he needs??????

  27. Don't think that will be the new top Ian. More likely to be a training top.

  28. Very exciting deal. They’ve gone for what should be a sure bet in Goldson alongside a high potential/high risk signing in Katic. I like it. I’d love to see some more young prospects from across Europe signed before the window closes.

  29. He was back in training towards the end of the season so should be available for the Spanish training camp.

  30. Players return to training on Friday if my memory serves me correctly. Think we may see at least a few newbies appear in the next few days so they can start training with us from Day 1. Also, flying out to Spanish camp on 17th(Sunday), I think Gerrard will want as many of his new signings available for that trip

  37. OK, it wasn't the most successful of seasons but I'm quite surprised the club doesn't sell off parts of the pitch. I guess the cost of doing so isn't worthwhile.

  38. Great to see these touch-ups going on to make our beautiful stadium look as good as it can after a decade of neglect. We cant do everything at once, but these little things make a big visible difference for supporters on matchdays and gives everyone a wee lift to see things looking better.

  39. I’ve watched a compilation of Sadiq Umar from last season and tbh he looks very average. Good technique, fast and good at linking up but not a goal scorer and not good at heading despite his height.

  40. What happens in the locker room, stays in the locker room. What happens on tour, stays on tour. What happens at Ibrox is played out, with 33 degrees of veracity, and 57 varieties of opinion, beneath the rhed, rhed tops of Rangers hating tabloids, none of which, unsurprisingly, carries one scintilla of authority. It remains unclear to me whether the players are appealing the severity of the punishment ("We did wrong, but the cash sanction is disproportionate") or are disputing the verdict of the disciplinary inquiry ("We did nothing wrong"), or are even questioning the legitimacy/objectivity of the process ("We were prejudged as guilty"); maybe they are appealing everything. Does anyone know? Whatever the facts, the case is bad publicity, worsened by the timing, with a new Manager/Coaching team trying to recruit new playing staff. In the Club's defence, it has to be said that the severity of its actions must have resulted from the seriousness of the offences, or their gravity as perceived by the coach.
