  2. From the details that are available, this is my understanding: - Wallace & Miller breached club/company disciplinary rules which was formally reported. - Both players suspended on full pay, pending investigation - A thorough investigation was carried & found that the players did indeed breach club rules to varying degrees - Disciplinary action was taken in accordance with club regulation, which resulted in a fine for both players - Both players disagree & are appealing the matter Based solely on the evidence available, there is nothing to indicate that the club have done wrong. IF the players are appealing the decision then the investigation will come under scrutiny. This may highlight fault within the investigation & result is either the fine being overturned, or lessened. OR it may find that the the investigation was full, thorough & without prejudice & therefore the punishment stands. With regard getting rid of Miller, his contract has expired....all they had to do was simply not renew it & from what we know, there was no intention to renew. With Wallace, it different...he still have a year left on his contract. If there was no future for him....why go through a length & time consuming disciplinary process just to get him out the door??? His decision to appeal the outcome has now essentially put him on a collision course with the club, which he will not win. Yes, he may win the appeal but he will not kick another ball until his contract has expired & he may well find his playing career effectively over. I really can't believe that folk are unhappy with the club over this matter, or questioning the clubs motives - 2 players over stepped the mark, regardless of who they are, they should be dealt with.

  3. I'm only going by what is said elsewhere on their site: http://club1872.co.uk/about/where-your-money-goes/ FWIW, I agree with the point that those members who've decided to allocate a portion of their contribution to projects should be the ones to decide whether or not buying more shares is correct. Indeed, I'd go so far to say that those people should be approached and asked individually to approve their own contribution but perhaps a vote is the right thing (or the best logistically). At the end of the day - dilution or not through this issue - the organisation's aim is clear enough so I can't see why any member would vote against acquiring more shares to maintain their holding at as high a level as possible.

  4. It's probably true to say none of us know all the facts but I'll trust the club in this long before I take the word of either Miller or Wallace.

  5. Every effort WAS made to keep him. He was offered more than any youth had been offered before. As colinstein says, we couldn't match Chelsea's offer, it really is that simple. The lad gets 22k a week next season.... we barely pay that for seasoned pro's and certainly not 17 yr old kids. We can't compete with that. Complain about the inequity of football leagues and the richer nations continually getting richer - but don't try and lay the blame for Gilmour leaving on the club - they did everything they could to keep him - he had been the crown jewels for a number of years. Interestingly, his wee brother Harvery just won the Schools Scottish Cup with Grange Academy. Harvey is on the books at Killie.

  12. Ooft, that's on a par with Ross's effort. I'm in for the World Cup prediction league. I don't predict Rangers results (superstition) but have no vested interest in international football.

  13. And the kid was absolutely spot on. He isn't physically ready for someone like Scott Brown. He would have been pushed off the ball all too easily. Gilmour is slight. If you read the full article you will also see that he says that technically he would be fine, but that physically he isn't there yet.

  14. It was the motion at the agm to basically allow the directors to allocate shares as they wished and not only by rights during the current financial year. 75% of the vote was required and it failed previously. Once this placement is done, the likes of McCoist & his cronies will not have sufficient shares to block it again, absolutely nowhere near it.

  15. Yes, the myth part is that he did when celebrating breaking his duck v. us. He went potty when he scored. The commentator that it was out of pure or sheer relief. He extravagantly thumped has chest but did not kiss the badge on that occasion, at least. Whether he ever did or not, I can't say as I only saw him against us, but if he did it is mistakenly mixed up with that particular OTT outburst of joy. I've not heard the interview because it was on, quelle surprise, the BBC. For all he has done positive for us, there seems to be a negative to counterbalance things. BBC Raduo Scotland Sportsound ***shudder***

  16. I've read the thread through and people make some good and valid points. FWIW here's my take: 1) This is an unedifying end to their Rangers careers, especially Wallace's. 2) Miller's time with them is consistently held against him. It colours people's view of him; possibly rightly so, depending on your viewpoint. This can impair one's judgement of his actions and digesting the rumours floating about. 3) Their reputations as leakers to the press and troublemakers within the dressing room are ramped up because the actions therein are seen to have contributed to the downfall of two managers. Whether this is deserved or not is unclear but who's to say that they haven't acted in the manner in which they did because they were disgusted by being in the midst of incompetence and working in an environment of promoted emotional security where players are mollycoddled and failure is overly tolerated. Don't forget, others within the current dressing room have had loose lips in the past. 4) Murty must've escalated disciplinary procedures because he himself didn't have the authority, vested or otherwise, to deal with the situation. You could argue that that situation is entirely the club's fault for allowing the potential for such a thing to arise in light of the extended interim manager fiasco. 5) The club has left itself wide open to accusations of ineptitude because it is damned if it publicly responds and damned if it doesn't. All avoidable if a permanent manager had been in place if you ask me. If Caixinha had survived the season, Wallace, Miller and Kranjčar wouldn't have; that is for sure. Can three experienced players be wrong about the suitability of a manager? Can two of those three be wrong about a youth coach drowning in the position of interim manager, especially in a high pressure environment? As it turns out, it looks as though the three players mentioned won't survive in any case despite Pedro's sacking. I have heard two versions of events and without claiming to be ITK by any stretch, one would appear to back the severity of the sanction whilst the other doesn't, up to a point. Regardless, the players nor the club come out of this very well and whilst discord within the workplace is common, there is an overwhelming feeling that none of this needed to happen.

  17. Agreed Frankie - but furthermore they would have to demonstrate, as a required criteria for all projects, that the intended project expenditure is beneficial to the wider Rangers community.

  22. The club deserve criticism for the handling of this though. Whatever happened over the course of the season or in the dressing room that day, whatever supposedly bad influences Miller and Wallace have been, fining them was a mistake. Miller had literally weeks left on his contract, if the club wanted him out then send him home, tell him to train on his own and that's it dealt with. Likewise with Wallace, if his time at the club has come to an end then tell him that, tell him he's being put on the transfer list and stripped of the captaincy. That's what happens in football, it's a brutal business at times but the players know that and get on with it. By fining them all we've done is save some money, that we might end up having to pay them back anyway, created two embittered players who, whether we like it or not, do have influence and friends in the dressing room and the media, and created the circumstances where this will now drag on for weeks if not months. Fining players makes sense if you're keeping them. It's a punishment they have to take on the chin to get back into the fold but fining them and then releasing them is a poor strategy. The players have nothing to lose by appealing. For those who say the players didn't show Murty respect and undermined him and that can't be tolerated they should remember that our club's Chairman threw Murty under a bus just days before that game, undermining his authority and position far more seriously than any player could have.

  23. One thing seems certain, whatever the facts behind the Murty incident and regardless of the outcome of their appeal, the dressing room will be a happier place without these two players.
