  1. If certain members have specifically chosen for a proportion of their cash not to be used for shares then it's wrong that other members can decide that their wishes will be ignored and they will be used for something else. C1872 have said "These supporters can now participate knowing that the focus is not solely on increasing shareholding." Those contributing towards projects should be asked on an individual basis if they are happy for their contributions to be used, or otherwise their contributions should be left alone. In addition, C1872's advertising is misleading. They claim that the cash raised will be used "to build Steven Gerrard’s playing squad for next season." They can't guarantee that and will have no idea how the funds will specifically be used.

  2. I think we paid around £250K for Alnwick and it's difficult to expect more when he's not really featured. When he has played he looked half-decent to me though but there's no point in having McGregor, Fod, Alnwick, Kelly and McCrorie all vying for effectively two positions. We only really need two - three at a push.

  3. He went for the money. I doubt Steven Gerrard's presence would've made any difference. He wouldn't have been working with him for a few years anyway.

  4. Hopefully we can keep the better players and they are not sucked away like Gilmour. Well done to all involved with the academy, keep up the good work

  5. If they feel they’ve been harshly treated then they have every right to appeal. I don’t see why people are getting sanctimonious about it when they don’t know what actually went on.

  6. Are? I've not seen enough of the latter two to judge but given Kelly has been unable to force his way in (and is only two years younger than Jak) then McCrorie should be preferred as backup (along with the likes of McAdams who is a wee bit younger). That leaves first choice and deputy. I like Fod a lot but he's not without his faults and it's difficult to say we missed him towards the end of the season when he was injured. Alnwick seems to have more of a presence but but I'm not sure how strong a character he is. Ergo, McGregor is arguably first choice given his experience and overall proven quality. After that it's just a case of deciding if we need a deputy and backup or just the deputy. I'd be inclined to say just the deputy (so McGregor and McCrorie) but an unexpected injury could leave us short so I can see why many managers prefer two guys vying it out - I just can't see Fod staying for that fight but you never know.

  8. The frustrating thing for me is that the club has been quiet about the incident and yet these two are complaining about their punishment. Knowing what went on, I really wish the club would just tell the supporters. I hope they do. The comments on this thread are understandable, but these two deserve these punishments. They were in the wrong (especially Wallace) and they should be punished as much as possible, even taking into account Wallace's excellent contribution to the club.

  10. The critical difference being that the two Tims will start ONE Celtic organization that is politically motivated to push through a pro-Celtic, anti-Rangers agenda and will pull in the same direction. The two Rangers supporters would be pulling in 10 different directions, with half a dozen organisations all trying to do the same thing. And that, in a nutshell, is why Celtic fans have been more politically savvy than us over the years. We cannibalise ourselves whilst they, for the most part, at least understand that unity is essential to push through your own agendas for the benefit of your club.

  11. Admin on FF just posted this: I've heard from an impeccable source that Michael O’Halloran is away next week to Melbourne in the A League, good news for the Club, get rid of him, get a fee and he won’t be around to do us any damage,Win Win.

  12. I personally believe that is EXACTLY what they should do. Anyone who voted for using their contributions for shares will be happy to do so. Those same people will be happy to use the project money to buy shares too. However, it is the people who are contributing to projects who are being asked to re-assign their funding - therefore, it is only they who should be voting on whether to allow that re-assignment.

  13. I highly doubt that is true. Gilmour had already been training with the first team under Caixinha and has already been training with the Chelsea first team - why would we think that under Gerrard he wouldn't be training with the first team ? As for him leaving for the money - that was a sizeable part of the equation, but it wasn't the only part. Have it on good authority that he was very much struggling with his decision and that this was at a time when he already knew what was on offer at Chelsea.

  14. I agree. I hate the idea of a 27 year old on big wages on the bench “just in case” and I don’t buy the idea that “you need competition”. It’s just a waste of money that we can’t afford. Sell Foderingham while his value is high because a season on the bench will majorly deplete it. Give McCrorie the chance to be in a match day squad and step in when and if needed like his brother who excelled when his chance came.

  16. What did Gerrard do as a player who was a proven leader and had notable tactical awareness ? If we are being objective: - He never won a league title..........because the odds were stacked against his team. - He never did anything with England........because of various reasons. - He did inspire to help win various Cup competitions, notably the Champions League against AC Milan. ie. he was a fantastic player but apart from that night in Istanbul, he is human and doesn't have magic dust. It's about him and his staff building something that we might not see the fruits of in the first season.

The chief instructor on the Channel 4 series was catching up with the STV presenter at City Centre eatery Lychee Oriental. READ MORE: STV presenter Ewen Cameron hits back at trolls after being dubbed a secret Rangers fan In a video posted online by Ewen, the presenter asks Ant: “If you were a football fan in Scotland, what football team would you support out of Celtic and Rangers?” “The same as you, mate - Rangers. Glasgow Rangers, right?” Ant replies. Looking heavy unimpressed, Ewen hits back: “You’re a f****** d***.” “What? Glasgow Rangers all day, no?” Ant goads. “I’m a Hearts man, I f****** told you that earlier,” hits back Ewen. “Well, why have you been harping on about Glasgow Rangers all day?” laughs Ant. 22. I don't think there is any doubt whatsoever about that Bill. If, and it is unlikely to happen in my lifetime, we actually could act as "one", the potential is absolutely MASSIVE. Just a tenner a month from even HALF of the people that went to Manchester would but 12 million into the club's coffers every year. Just imagine that. For the price of two pints we could, within 2 years, add 10,000 to the capacity or buy 2 players at, say, 4 million each year and even have enough to pay their wages. We could completely refurbish Ibrox, we could return Auchenhowie to State of the Art. But we are so fractured and mistrusting as a support that it is unlikely to ever happen. More's the pity. I think the quest for Boardroom representation, which D'Art mentions, is actually proving to be a mill around the neck of the fundraising efforts.

  23. Fans group history has shown us that it becomes more difficult and complicated to fully focus on working toward delivering their mission, when there are others within the fanbase hellbent on discrediting individuals/groups for their own ends. That isn't a catch all excuse because no-one has been perfect but none the less it is a fact. During the spiv years, some were prepared to colude with what was effectively 'the enemy' in their attempts to make sure groups didn't prosper towards their goals.

  26. Some might argue that instead of being on the bench, it might be better for McCrorie to go out on loan to get more first team football,....but at a better level than the fourth tier. Thinking back to McGregor, I think he went on loan to Dunfermline and St.Johnstone when he was 22-24 years old. McCrorie was 20 in March.

  32. According to reports, newly appointed Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has made the loan signing of Liverpool striker Dominic Solanke his top priority. Liverpool roped in Solanke from Chelsea last summer but he failed to impress at Anfield as he struggled for game time. Solanke managed just five starts in the Premier League last season and scored just once, with his solitary strike coming against Brighton on the final day of the season. The 20-year-old’s struggles at Anfield are understandable, considering Jurgen Klopp had Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane blowing away teams left, right and centre – both domestically and in Europe. So, Solanke failed to find a way through and hardly made an impact while coming off the bench. Solanke has shown signs that he is not yet ready to compete for a top Premier League team. Lack of game time, coupled with his lack of confidence has seen the striker struggle in front of goal at Anfield. However, a move away from Merseyside could work well for Solanke. Rangers are interested in a loan deal for Solanke, who should jump at the prospect of playing under Gerrard. Solanke may have failed to live up to the billing at Liverpool, but he surely possesses the right attitude and hunger to learn and improve. And Gerrard will be the perfect manager to help him improve his game and regain his lost confidence. Although primarily being a striker, Solanke could be utilised on the flanks by Gerrard at Rangers. Solanke is someone whose talents are well known to Gerrard, owing to his coaching stint with the Reds youngsters, and the former Liverpool skipper will need to find out a way to help the young Englishman regain his scoring touch. Solanke possesses a natural ability to glide past defenders and score goals. He is strong, powerful and pacey. At Rangers, the young Englishman would also receive several opportunities to showcase his talents, Additionally, he could develop physically in a league which is known for its forceful and vibrant nature. Regular football and the manager’s trust could help to get the best out of Solanke. He is a player clearly struggling with form and is also lacking in confidence due to the limited game time he got under Klopp. But there is no denying Solanke’s talent and a season away from Anfield could do him the world of good. The Scottish Premier League has proven to be a decent breeding ground for young talents over the last few years. Rangers have shown trust in Gerrard to end Celtic’s domestic domination and bring back the glory days at Ibrox. After strengthening the wide areas with the additions of Jamie Murphy and Scott Arfield, it is time for Gerrard to show faith in Solanke and sign him from Liverpool. If Rangers do succeed in getting Solanke on loan, it would be considered a masterstroke from Gerrard. And from Liverpool’s perspective, they will hope to get an improved and prolific Solanke back at Anfield in January or at the beginning of the 2019/20 campaign. https://soccersouls.com/2018/06/08/go-for-him-gerrard-signing-this-premier-league-ace-could-turn-out-to-be-a-masterstroke-for-rangers/

  33. That's another thing that encourages me to be positive about it. He comes across as a smart guy. He could have chosen an easy start to management by going to some team that doesn't expect to be winning all the time. Instead he chose to come to a team where he knows the expectations are very high, every defeat is a disaster and who have burned through two managers in less than two years. The fact he chose this path must indicate he has supreme confidence he can do this. If he's confident I'm confident until I have reason to feel otherwise.

  34. You will be unsurprised to hear I disagree with you. Playing is different to managing. Rodgers may not have played to a high level whereas Gerrard did. However, they will both be managers. Doesn't make Gerrard's experience irrelevant, but it certainly doesn't suggest he will "better" Rodgers. Rodgers has been managing at the top level for a number of years in the EPL, Scotland and Europe. Gerrard has none of that experience. None. Celtic has vastly superior financial resources. Doesn't always mean a great deal but they have guys on their bench or sitting in the stand who would probably get a game in our starting XI. Their strength in depth is far superior to ours and, like it or not, their starting XI is superior to ours too. I think it IS highly unlikely that Gerrard will beat Rodgers, for all the reasons above. Doesn't mean it isn't impossible. Doesn't mean we shouldn't hold out hope for it. But realism is important too. Everything is pointing in Celtic's favour, aside from Gerrard's Liverpool connections & his reputation possibly helping us get a better quality of player. But even on reputation.... lets be serious... if you were good enough for both Rangers and Celtic and they both came for you... would you honestly go to Rangers ahead of a team that a) can offer you Champions League football (hopefully not ) b) has just won back-to-back trebles and c) can offer you significantly more wages. Lets show some realism and lets at least be honest with ourselves. The cards are firmly stacked against Gerrard. We just have to hope that Rodgers house of cards falls and we are the beneficiaries.

  37. I don't have an issue with it Ian. To be honest, I like the idea that when a transfer is confirmed we have a separate thread for each confirmed transfer. Means that you have one thread dealing with one player, as opposed to one thread dealing with everything, which means discussion can go off track or get confused. I see no issue that once a deal is confirmed we have a specific thread for that confirmed transfer. Also allows us to come back to it during the season to discuss how the player has done compared to what we thought they would do... in other words, to prove SBS & dB wrong

  38. Based on the last 2 seasons final standings....that "natural place" is above us!!!! While the main thrust of the focus is challenging Ceptic, we simply can't just brush the other teams aside. We SHOULD be beating them comfortably, but we haven't done it consistently enough.
