  1. Well, best thing I can say is at least it was only five. Unfortunately, too many players just didn't turn up and/or completely bottled it. No point in discussing player a or b in that sense - only Alnwick (and I thought Holt to a very small degree) can hold their heads high. The rest should be ashamed of themselves. Psychologically we are beaten before we start these games and it's clear we have next to no leaders never mind a manager worthy of the name in the dressing room. I thought we signed guys like Martin, Dorrans and Murphy to be that difference but they were just as bad as anyone else. The players and board can start their apology to our fans by refunding the £50 of the bears that attended.

  2. Murty's 4-2-3-1 was predictable today. Rodgers knew it so he flooded MF. They had 4 MF players to our 2. Outnumbered & overrun. For the 3 Windass is an in/out player & the 2 wide men got isolated. And Cummings cannot play the lone striker role After all that the defence never stood a chance. A total shambles. Murty's time is up. I've supported him until now but he's been in freefall since the 3-2 defeat at ibrox

  4. Just watched MOTD2, both Ian Wright & Shearer saying Gerrard should jump at the chance to manage Rangers, huge club, and Shearer saying he will be able to attract quality players because of who he is. Nice to hear unbias comments!

  5. There's possibly too much talk about experience or the lack of it, and not enough focus on the calibre of the person. Wallace and Souness were leaders, so was Walter Smith - I'm sure their strength of character carried them through many a time when their experience was lacking. If Steven Gerrard is made of the right stuff then he will be a success at Rangers. If he's not then it won't matter what experience he has or hasn't got. On the face of it, listening to those who know him, I think there's every chance he can make it here.

  6. We could sack murty and get the under 18's manager to replace the old under 18's manager until the new under 18's manager from liverpool gets here

  7. Steve Clarke didn't need a bucket load of cash at Kilmarnock. he has worked wonders with a bunch of mediocre players. it's not all about money.

  8. You're running away with entirely the wrong stick, again. The fact we've wasted those seasons was evident today, regardless of our financial position with respect to Celtic, a gap everyone accepts and that has prompted many (myself included) to predict it was always going to take several seasons to catch up. However, over the last three seasons we've got through three managers, umpteen players, several £m's and still not achieved either stability or direction in football operations. Whether we could ever have won the league title during this period is doubtful in my opinion but the least we should have expected were clear targets and progress towards them. Frankly, the performances now are no better, and possibly worse, than under Warburton. I see no obvious plan going forward and I've currently no idea where we're going as a club. That's why I think we've wasted three seasons.

  9. Thank fuck that is over, just the 5, they really are a rotten bunch. The strangest thing is that after losing 5 goals to the bheasts, I can never think of any situation where the keeper would be our best player, but that was an absolute nail-on today - Jak was outstanding and saved us from a record defeat. I give him 7/10 The entire back 4 were dreadful, 1/10, into midfield and Holt worked hard to no effect and had one good shot well saved, 4/10, Dorrans, Murphy, Windass all completely anonymous 1/10, Candieas defensive work was dreadful but he worked hard and caused them some issues 4/10, Cummings missed one sitter and didnt really cause them any problems despite working hard, 3/10. Murty 0/10 - he takes full responsibility for the selection,. formation, tactics, and all were abject failures. He should never step inside any of our club again. Just 2 weeks after a horrific humiliation that all watching believed was as low as it could get, Murty manages (sic) to better it today. I dont care if they put the cleaner in charge, this guy must not be allowed to continue as interim manager. To continue with Murty for our game at Ibrox v Killie next weekend will be a massive slap in the face to every Rangers support the world over and will prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the guys running the club are far too distant from it to be in touch with the reality. I also call for the head of Stewart Robertson, the managing director who has overseen this clusterfuck this season without so much as a hint of achieving anything positive for his grand salary. 9-0 in two weeks against a scum side who are not very good in terms of a modern football side and have bang average players in almost all positions is entirely unacceptable and heads must roll.

  10. It was widely known when he got the gig first time around that he comes from a big celtic supporting family, but I think he would have too much professional integrity to deliberately choose the wrong team and tactics to ensure we were easily beaten.

  12. 8000 bears paying £50 a whip to go and be subjected to 90 minutes of triumphalist republican partying and not one of our players has the stomach for the fight. Take the money out of the wages of the players and interim manager and reimburse the fans.

  14. I think the term you're looking for is mass hysteria, it's incredible and baffling in equal measure. If Rangers were appointing the under 18 coach from Spurs or Southampton there would be nothing like the excitement this seems to be generating. Yet both those clubs have a far better record of producing young players than Liverpool do suggesting their under 18 coaches might be quite good. I mean if we feel the way forward is to find a young, ambitious, but untried at first team level, coach then Mikel Arteta for example would make much more sense. This is a hell of a gamble. I find it surprising because we're genuinely not that far away from competing for this league. The side needs more belief and back bone and some leadership, we need a stronger back line, but we're the highest scorers in the league despite another tumultuous season off the park. We need stability, nous and experience in my opinion. People have compared this to the Souness appointment, wrongly I think. Rangers were fifth that season on goal difference, only one goal better off than sixth placed Dundee. The season before we were fourth, 21 points behind the champions. We need a catalyst for radical change, we were a long way behind Celtic, Aberdeen and Dundee Utd at that time. We're not now, we're just poorly managed. The fact Gerrard was a very good player means nothing. We'll be asking him to coach players who aren't as good as he was and not capable of doing what he could. It might interesting to look over the city for a moment. Rodgers was reserve coach at Chelsea for a few seasons. Well thought of he was offered the managers job at Watford. Taking over when they were in danger of relegation he kept them up. He left shortly after to take theReading job, a club he'd been at before. Reading didn't work out well and he left after 6 months with them fourth bottom. Rodgers made mistakes at both clubs. As neither is in much spotlight outside of their own towns this largely passed unnoticed. He was able to learn and when he landed the job at Swansea, a club well run with a clear structure in place he flourished. You don't get to make mistakes at Rangers, the spotlight is always on, shining very brightly. So far this mass hysteria has passed me by. Who knows though, it's clearly contagious so I might succumb soon.

  15. I think I've managed to forgo all reason and convince myself that Gerrard will be a good move. I'll have gone from 'Gerrard shouldn't be an option', to 'Stevie G's taking us to 55' on the announcement when it comes -- if it comes... And If it doesn't come I'll be like...

  16. The leaks from FF worry me. They got the last few team sheets spot on, despite some surprises in there. In other words, they couldn't really have guessed and I believe they have a very reliable source. So this begs the question .... why on earth would someone within Rangers leak the team, and then why would FF post it? Doesn't that just give our opponents an advantage? Am I missing something here, or does something really stink? We need to find out the leak and sort this out now. Whoever is leaking this info needs to be hung, drawn, and quartered, and then thrown as far from Ibrox as possible. If anyone from the club needs help to find the culprit, I'm offering my services. This has to stop!!!

  17. Someone from within the club has told me the above. Not sure I believe it, but even if true it needs to be SIGNIFICANT because we need a complete overhaul on the pitch, and likewise off the pitch.

  18. Ok. Let me removed the sanitised sugar coating. Truthfully, they'll be lucky to take a point and that would be from next weekend's fixture. If Murty remains in charge, I wouldn't be surprised if they were to be be beaten in all three remaining games.

  20. I won’t be holding my breath for this ‘investment’ either! This board have promised much but never seem to get round to delivering. However, if investment is coming, then appointing a rookie manager is even more crazy..

  21. This is what happens when a team of million pound players go up against a team of £4million players. Not one of them can compete, they are all shitebags who know they shouldn’t even be out there, but none of their team-mates should be either. However, a decent manager could still have mounted a damage limitation exercise & instilled some kind of confidence so his players can actually find a team mate with a pass, stop panicking & making bad decisions all over the park. A good manager changed tactics to cover up his teams weaknesses. Murty is not a good manager, not even a half decent first team boss. Steven Gerrard isn’t that much of a risk compared to that. Realistically he can’t be any worse. The only thing he did right today was avoiding the media scum, as Souness always did any time his team lost.

  23. Speaking of Warburton.... I have little doubt that despite where we were under him that we are far worse off now. He may have had a "do plan A better" but the way he set us out had potential with better players. we are currently utterly rudderless and clueless.

  24. You do realize that agree. And co had a share issue which generated enough funds to close that gap, but chose instead to, allegedly, line their own pockets ? they ARE wasted seasons and not just because Celtic were financially superior but also because we had Chatlatans running us who, had they operated ethically, could have returned us to the top. the current Board, whilst being Rangers men, need to be doing a whole lot more

  25. Gave up at half time watching it. Murty plays the same formation that just plays into Roger's hands. Other teams with so called lesser players can go to Parkhead and put up a better display. If it is Gerrard let's hope he can bring some motivation, belief and organisation.

  26. You can add several of the players to that. Several thousand pounds a week and they can't even show a bit of defiance. We need a complete clear out - whoever sanctioned the money for Pena is a start.

  30. We're beat before we walk on the pitch against them now - especially at Parkhead where we'd be as well not turning up. This could be a record defeat if we're not careful. Take off Dorrans who has been an absolute joke for a start.

  35. As oft' stated on this thread, I have not visited any of the grounds of fellow Scots supporters who voted us down. I will NEVER be back. Politely, I ask my fellow Bears to do likewise. Any available income should go to our club, not supporting those bastards that attempted to put us under. I understand the effect such action has on RSCs and on those that administer the buses. It's another area where the club must enter into discussions and find an overarching strategy that all Bears find comfortable.

  36. Yes, but they've looked silly before and the phrase " a few things still to iron out" directly contradicts what kopger said. not that I'm saying he's wrong, it's just odd that he specifically said there was nothing left to "iron out".

  37. I said after the cup game that we were lucky, today we were even luckier. Murty is just not up to the job, that’s been obvious for a good while. But what about the players? These guys get paid handsomely yet show no fight, no desire, don’t seem to have any individual professional standards.

  43. Yip, as predicted by plenty when Murty got given the job for more than a couple of weeks, this could only end in disaster. Its not being smart after the event, its a youth coach with very little experience even at that level being thrown to the wolves in on of the hardest, most intense jobs in football. The board are entirely to blame for their inaction in this area. Even if they thought they could get away with it, the home results throughout his time in charge should have seena replacement brought in months ago.
