The directors have to be seen to be taking the side of the manager or else it weakens the position of future managers, and it may also put potential replacements off if they see that they are not going to get the full support of the Board. This incident also makes it more difficult for the Board to replace Murty before the end of the season if they were considering it as it may then be seen to be bowing to the players. I'd generally argue that the manager should be supported as well, although there have been incidents of me not doing that in the past (Souness v Roberts). However as a fan, Murty's reaction of not speaking to the players because it may cause conflict is unacceptable. The performance on and off the park was dreadful and needed to be addressed. It just seems that Murty wasn't up to that task. I find it hard to criticise senior players who react to such a level of incompetence from their manager. We are looking for players with a strong desire to win at our club and that is the sort of reaction that such players would be expected to give. Obviously we don't know exactly what was said but I don't want a team that meekly sits there and allows the performance to go unexamined because the manger doesn't have the balls to cause conflict.8 points

There shouldn't be a short-list. The new manager should be known by now and the fans informed so they can take that into account when they spend upwards of £450 on a season ticket.6 points

...But in the meantime, chuck us your season ticket cash while the team blunders from one defeat to the next. All this isn't good enough.5 points

If senior players weren't angry on Sunday then that would be news. Everyone of us knows Murty mis-managed the side on Sunday. His tactics were wrong, his motivation was clearly lacking and his man-management was appalling. I'm actually pleased to hear the club captain and most senior player were furious after that performance, so was I. Both Miller and Wallace have played in Rangers sides that have beaten Celtic, maybe someone should listen to them instead. I'm reluctant to criticise Murty too much, he shouldn't be in the job and he's done as well as could be expected under the circumstances, but he got it dead wrong on Sunday and there is no hiding from that.5 points

The idea that dressing room fall outs and arguments don't happen is naivety at best. When such do happen they have to be managed properly. Warburton, Caixinha and now Murty all appear incapable. Once again this falls on the board's incompetence in that respect. Beyond a joke. It's actually quite stunning the way this team have imploded over the last month and we're now back to private issues being leaked across the media. Constant fire-fighting and finger-pointing will be a red flag to any potential new manager. An utter mess. This kind of crap has been a regular issue and there's a chain of evidence pointing at someone (or some people) being unable to do their job in terms of managing the football operation. That responsibility lies outwith Murty and senior players.5 points

Which do you prefer? Players going mental after that totally unacceptable performance or a manager saying he won't be saying anything to the players because there will be conflict?5 points

The fans voice doesn't need a fans rep on the Board of the club to be heard. IMHO, that was nothing more than a sales pitch to get more people to donate and to add pressure to the Board to give them what they wish. I personally don't think that now is the time for such pressure tactics. We have far, far bigger issues at hand than for a fan to be elected to the Board.4 points

I'd be furious too, and I have people in my own management team who are annoyed with me from time to time. However, there's a level of respect that needs to be shown in the way you deal with your manager. Equally it is important that the team follows the will of the manager, even if you disagree with it. If not, the whole team fails. By all means they should disagree respectfully, and explain their rationale. If the manager still doesn't agree, you have to follow his direction. You can disagree, but you must commit to their instructions 100%. If not, request a transfer and find another club. The club has suffered too much of this lack of respect over recent years and as I said, regardless of your opinion about a manager, this behaviour cannot be tolerated.4 points

Hmmm. The club issuing stuff indirectly to disparage Wallace and Miller? Poor show if true.4 points

Dressing-room arguments are healthy, but only if they're managed properly. I would expect a few heated words after that performance. However, I don't agree with senior players being able to undermine a manager. I don't expect and don't want Murty around for too much longer, but there is a way to put one's point across without undermining. It's happened before, and we supported the players. That was wrong. We need a new core/spine. I think we're getting there, but we still need a lot more. Foferingham, Docherty, McCrorie, Jack, Tavernier, Morelos will/should be the new spine, as they improve and mature; hopefully over the next 5 years. We need more, though.4 points

Manager next season or not the board must be seen to back whomever they place in charge of the players something they have failed to do on a few occasions through the years.4 points

I’m confident the rest of Ibrox will show solidarity with the union bears by not having a vocal presence either.3 points

The board has delivered plenty of progress on and particularly off the park. I don't think that this 'statement' has been thought through.3 points
-
That is a dreadful statement. The fans are furious and Club 1872 are selling season tickets and touting for a place on the board. How daft do they think we are? I will be cancelling my membership of this husk of a fans group pronto. How about asking about the managerial position and quit asking the fans to stump again for what is frankly a completely unknown scenario. Totally, utterly disillusioned.3 points

Just finished it. It's the first one that I've managed to listen to completely. I don't normally have time to listen to podcasts but managed to find some time while working. I really enjoyed it (more than I thought I would) and thought Colin was an excellent link-man and kept it flowing, with interesting comments from Frankie and David. Well done to all involved.3 points

One who probably had a petted lip because he wasn't a first choice for the match (Miller) and another who has probably been pissed off from not getting a look in since returning from injury thus suffering from the same affliction as Miller....and in both cases so very fucking poor having a go at the manager, fair enough fighting among them selves as i've been there and done it. As seen from Halliday's attitude when subbed, he should have thought himself fortunate to get a starting position.3 points

The longer Murty remains manager, the bigger a laughing stock we'll become. Get rid now.3 points

It is a very difficult situation for the board, IMO. To get a good manager you need to pay good money, a good manager will want to have transfer money to get good players and good players want good money, or the good managers won't touch the job, it all comes down to cash! how much cash do we have?2 points

Like them or not they are the only ones who actually sing at Ibrox! most just sit and moan and shout abuse at the players2 points

Yeah, as much as the guests are important, Colin and Ross are excellent presenters and really make a difference in terms of keeping the conversation interesting and linked well. It's well worth an hour of your time (hopefully less) each week when doing something that doesn't require all your concentration. Not to mention Big_Jaws who makes the edited version sound so professional.2 points

Warburton failed to deliver. Pedros appointment on the other hand was a monumental disaster. heads should have rolled at boardroom level when the wheels came off his caravan. the boards next move has to be a master stroke. there is no margin for error. we can't afford another debacle like Pedro. problem is I don't think they know what to do next.2 points

The worst statement ever , not only was it weak , it actually inflamed the position by begging for cash instead of holding this board to account on the mismanagement of our club .Also Stewart Robertson needs hauled over the coals , the meeting on the 26th is going to be a riot .2 points

It's a reactionary statement but that's understandable given the seemingly endless humiliations we, as a support, are having to endure. Celtc love playing us. Their fans laugh at us constantly. There's no end in sight. I'm f*cking sick of it.2 points

It’s all just rumours and gossip at the moment. None of us know what goes on behind the scenes and who is or isn’t guilty of what. I think it’s dangerous to speculate on what certain players may or may not have did when nobody knows outside the confines of the club. Rumours and false narratives have a habit of becoming ‘fact’ online as people convince themselves it must be true, usually because they don’t like whoever is being accused. What is clear is nobody comes out of this well. Not the board, not Murty, not Miller or Wallace and certainly not the club. Yet another embarrassing episode in what has been a nightmare period for the club.2 points

If that is what is required, then that is what must be done - It's down to the Board to find a way to make it happen. If we want to be the "Simply the best" again, we need to start showing that with our Managerial appointments. The playing staff will follow....2 points

I think Alves suffers from the same thing Barton did to an extent. High expectations mean they can't do anything right for some people, when they both suffered from playing in a poor team for managers who weren't up to it.2 points

I watched that Si Ferry/Ally McCoist video last night, it's pretty good actually. McCoist tells a story I'd not heard before. In training on a Friday under Souness they'd play Scotland v England bounce games and Souness would play for England. 'Scotland' were winning one week and started showing off, Souness took it badly and put a crunching tackle in on Ian Durrant, flattening him. As McCoist tells it Durrant sprung straight back up and turned to Souness and said "is that the best you've got?" Souness reacted by saying "no, this is" and punched Durrant sparking an all out brawl between the players. Half an hour later Souness walks into the dressing room and congratulates all the players telling them that's the spirit he wants to see! I can't see Murty doing that somehow. Managing a group of young men sometimes requires unconventional skills.2 points

Kenny Miller is a serial troublemaker. He was also cast aside by Pedro for the same thing. Miller is also known for leaking information. The fact the Rangers team was known 2 days before the game is not acceptable whoever did it.2 points

They made the error of backing them last time the Board are merely belatedly doing what they should have done months ago.2 points

A worrying thought is why are the board backing a manager over the club captain and the most senior player when the manager only has 5 games left? Unless he doesn’t actually have 5 games left...2 points

many moons ago I would of agreed with the notion that the club should discipline players who openly question a managers tactics and styles. However in this situation I’m struggling with that. Wallace and miller have had to put up with a lot of shit in their time. They’ve tasted the highs of league & cup wins, European football etc. Then the lows.. Bankruptcy, division 3 football, Poor managers, (mccoist, warburton, caixhinha & Murty) one after the other. In between that, they have watched as we’ve been passed between dodgy boards. Our current board (who were to lead us into a more positive future) had over 140 app for the job and apparently a stringent interviewing set up to decide who it would be. Instead we chucked that to the side, put all our eggs in one basket and decided to go for mcinnes, He knocked us back and with a board with no idea what to do next, turned to the youth manager and hoped he get us to limp over the line to 2nd place. If I was Wallace and miller I would be furious too.1 point

You'd have to know exactly how the 'going mental' manifested itself but the crux is that Murty had no real authority (even less now). Nor now does he have credibility left in his current role and if manager on Sunday will have to depend on the players motivating themselves.1 point
