  1. Not the point, either him or the player tackling should have been shown at least a yellow depending on who the ref seen as being guilty of the foul. rules are rules.

  3. Again, written as a License Fee Paying Rangers supporter. Last evening, the entire AberTic team were at Dens Park, providing commentary on the Dundee-Hibs game. Thus Richard Gordon, Liam McLeod, Wullie Miller, and Chris McLaughlin indulged in faux excitement at Neil Lennon's approach to total football. The game of the night at Ibrox was covered by Rob McLean in front of a TV inside PQ. Martin Dowden(proclaimed a good Sellik man by Annie McGuire) was at New Douglas Park, promising an interview with Acas Chairman, Ronnie McDonald. Listening whilst driving, Rangers were mentioned after ten minutes when Big Dick introduced Martin Dowden and spoke matters Acas. We were told speculation reference Docherty should be resolved at 19.30hrs with Martin's interview. Crystal Palace had inquired that morning and may provide a twist? Wishful thinking was dismissed a few minutes later when Big Dick informed the listenership that Rangers have signed Greg Docherty for a fee believed to be in the region of 600k. However, according to their sources, nowhere near that figure has been handed over at the moment. Perhaps more will emerge in the next few days? The next tool to be used by Big Dick was Derek Ferguson, "you've raved about Greg Docherty for the last few seasons". The former Ranger eulogises the player and Big Dick springs, "ah know Acas staff have been amazed at his lack of recognition from those selecting Scotland's under 21s, maybe that will change now"? Derek takes the barb and laments that how it was in his day, and it's probably the same now. Big Dick ends with, "we'll see". I was attending the game, thus cannot report on their coverage. I heard the half-time report on my radio and it was a few lines from Rob McLean, obviously events at Ibrox could not compete with excitement at Dens. After the game, both walking back to my vehicle and driving back to deepest, darkest Lanarkshire, I listened intently for the opposition's manager's post-match interview with Big Dick. These last several weeks, BBC Radio Scotland has improved their coverage of games at Ibrox by calling the opposition manager for thoughts on the game, or to reinforce Big Dick's whims. I have heard both Martin Canning and Tommy Wright deliver deserved praise to their sides, and Owen Coyle complain bitterly about a refused last minute penalty. I sat in my drive way for the last few minutes of the show waiting on Derek McInnes. It was a no show, thus I must wonder if this new facet of coverage is on;y for victorious managers or those with a grievance? Big Dick's main concern post-match, was the well being of Dons Keeper, Joe Lewis. Several updates on his leg injury, although no mention on whether he should have been yellow/red carded. Remember, this from a genial host reduced to broadcasting a list of incidents involving Rangers players(well, mainly Ryan Jack) that might interest the Compliance Officer. At the game, those Dandy Dons remaining in attendance saw their Keeper injured and a penalty awarded, then immediately sang, 'nice one Simmie'. Reminds me of Big Dick several years past, "people forget, there were two victims of that tackle". I suspect Big Dick is as confused as his fellow Dandies at the Loving Cup ceremony? Booing Broxy Bear is one thing, but chorusing ridicule on an eighty-odd year ceremony commemorating a colliery disaster! At least they are consistent, something Pacific Quay are not.

  7. Wes in goal. If that was a CL Final he'd easily be portrayed as the best keeper in the world, so he'll just have to accept for now, at least, he's the best keeper in the SPL. A stunning display by the big man.

I realise the score for Tav is lower than might be expected but I still have issues with his awareness when he's defending. Brilliant going forward though and a real threat. Morelos could have had a 10, but wow does he miss some good chances.

  17. I'd the misfortune to listen to the tranny last night. I'd foolishly assumed we'd get an 'as-live' commentary from the studio and was stunned when I realised the Hibs/Dundee match was being covered. They cut to Rob McLean when we scored and they half-heartedly admitted Morelos was in decent form and having a good season. The second half was much the same, cutting away to other grounds if someone scored. The radio gave the impression of a more even contest than those in attendance have since told me it was. It's farcical that second against third isn't the match to receive live commentary.

  18. Yeah, I seem to remember something about that being brought up, maybe up a couple of years ago (penalty + sending off + suspension being deemed too harsh a punishment) not sure where (or if it was ever) adopted though. Lewis wasn't even booked though, which I'd say was a definite case of over-leniency.

  20. Very hard to pick just one player to be honest. Could easily have been Wes or Holt but Tav's overall contribution in attack and defence means he has to get it.

  21. Thought we were excellent tonight all over the park. You could make an argument for 3 or 4 players being man of the match but for me Tav was excellent. Get that boy a new contract. He’s improving defensively as well. All the new boys played well and the team looks a lot more balanced having a natural left winger in the side. Considering they haven’t played a lot of football this season they all stepped up. I thought the sheep were terrible. But that was down to every one of our players doing their job. Last ten mins we were shaky but that was down to Holt moving forward and Halliday playing a position he can’t really play. Need to follow that up and try go on a good run to put pressure on the bheasts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  23. I've got both Amazon and Netflix. Both are pretty good value at the moment and their unique content is growing. Yes, online only but new smart TVs here have built in apps to access them. Amazon have dipped their toe in the sports water already with some NFL and ATP rights. Internet TV will grow significantly over the next 10 years.

  25. From the Herald. GRAEME Murty said last night that his third triumph against Derek McInnes and Aberdeen in the space of eight weeks proved that Rangers are a match for any team in the Ladbrokes Premiership on their day, as the club agreed a £670,000 deal with Hamilton Accies which will make midfielder Greg Docherty the fifth signing of the January transfer window. The 21-year-old midfielder, who is in line to make his debut against Ross County on Sunday assuming a medical and all other formalities are sorted out today, joins loan signings Russell Martin, Sean Goss, Jamie Murphy and Jason Cummings in the Ibrox squad and the enhanced strength of this unit was much in evidence yesterday as this 2-0 win saw the one-time interim manager complete a personal hat-trick against McInnes, the man who it was once assumed he was only keeping a seat warm for. While the Ibrox side's winter refurbishment may not be done just yet, they leapfrog Aberdeen into second and Murty said that Docherty was precisely the kind of young hungry player he was looking to add to his squad. Last night’s goalscorer Alfredo Morelos, who appeared in a TV show in his homeland Colombia to speak of his hopes of moving to the Barclays Premier League this summer, was another example “It shows that, in the big games, we have a top level that is the match for the best in this league,” said Murty, who singled out goalkeeper Wes Foderingham for praise for a string of saves, many of which came after the Dons were two goals in arrears. “We have to be that good every day. Every team has to face that Rangers – not a Rangers who are off it. We need to show that will to win, that character and that ability. “As good as it was, we will get better," he added. "The players we have in the building are pushing us to be better. That’s really exciting for me and should be exciting for Rangers fans. We’re at the start of what could be a very satisfying journey. “Unless someone walks in with a barrowload of cash – and a big barrowload – he [Morelos] will be a Rangers player. But I want players who have aspirations to be in a better place. Hopefully we can get better at Rangers but the big prize is to play in the Premier League. If we have someone good enough to go there, it’s fantastic for us. Hopefully [Docherty] another bit of business for another young hungry player desperate to enhance our group.” “Greg is now in the hands of Rangers,” Hamilton chairman Ronnie MacDonald had said earlier in the day. "The financial agreement has been signed by both clubs, so it's up to Rangers to contact him and arrange a medical. Rangers have acted really well on this. The finishing line has been far away at times, but we got there.” A downbeat Derek McInnes, who saw his goalkeeper Joe Lewis carted off to hospital after conceding the clinching penalty for a foul on Josh Windass, refused to give up on second position and said that yesterday's granting of planning permission for the club’s new stadium was a potential game changer. “I’m not going to jump through hoops about that [three straight losses to Rangers], am I?" said McInnes. "We’ve lost a game. We’re always capable of going on good runs. Rangers were the clear favourites for second spot at the start of the season. We fell short of what we’re capable of. If we reach the levels we can, which we do most weeks, we can still finish second. We go back and work. There is a potential serious injury there [Lewis]. We just have to be hopeful and let the experts do the job.” Recom

  26. But we weren't 3 or 4 up by half time. We were very wasteful in front of goal. We were never out of sight in that game tonight despite dominating the game. Until we finish off teams like we should have done tonight we can forget about winning the title

  27. Really enjoyed that. It wasn't just a win tonight, it was a lesson. We were able to control the game and showed that we can shut up shop to some degree and then change our system during different phases of the game. Having now hammered them 3 times this season, we really now must push on and create a big gap. I just have a feeling we can achieve that with our new players. Goss, Martin and Murphy all look like they're born to play for us. I know there's no chance of us keeping Goss but I just hope he enjoys his time here because you never know what might happen a year or two further down the line. He looks absolute class. Windass is still blowing hot and cold. If he could maintain a level of performance for even 60 minutes he'd be amazing for us, but he seems to fall out of the game for too many periods. Maybe it's concentration, but whatever it is I hope he can be trained to deal with it. However, when he's on his game, he's so dangerous in that position. Tav, Holt, Fod are becoming standout players for us now and it'll be difficult to hold onto them if they continue to perform like that. It's inevitable that they'll get more attention now. Things are really positive for us at the moment. I just hope we can keep this momentum for the rest of the season. You just never know what might happen if we do.

  29. Good performance throughout the whole team. I think that we will continue to improve under Murty and as key players come back from injury. Spare a thought for Murty though. I saw him casting an envious glance at McInnes near the end. I think Murty realises that all he has is 9 points from 9 against Aberdeen whereas McInnes has a great relationship with his boss.
