But, and its a huge but, the one position we are not going to improve on in this window is the one position we need addressed more than any other, THE MANAGER!! We have absolutely no chance of overhauling celtic, and will be lucky to finish second, with Murty in charge. He is capable of pulling off a decent result or two against the bigger teams where we can sit in and defend, but our results against the lesser sides in our league has been abysmal.

Anyone who currently resides in Scotland will know exactly why Ian1964 referred to it as a shithole. Anti-Rangers/Unionist tentacles are everywhere in every walk of life. The press and various institutions have been infested and Rangers supporters are treated like pariahs, without even having said anything. Having said that, many of us have families and homes here and have never had realistic options to leave. It is a shithole but it's our shithole.

I think this is a great idea, and I'd love to hear from you guys (and others on the forums). I'm actually pleased with this signing. He's a wee bit old, and he's not the best CB -- as his Scotland performances will attest -- but I think he'll be a solid option for us over the next couple of years; he's experienced and will give us that physical presence at the back. Murty also suggests Martin has leadership qualities, which we have been crying out for. A Martin-Alves pairing at the back should be solid in the air! But slow as stop!

Surely any player with as much experience of Scottish football in general and Scotland in general as he has knows that this is going to be a high profile existence with every move both on and off the field scrutinised. Well lets face it. He will never be a coach, because that means training & applying himself.
