If that's the case it's a 'no-brainer' that this deal should not happen? It's basically owners picking the team. If the football department don't fancy him, then that should be the end of it.3 points

I think (just as we seen last August), if we wanted to sign Naismith, he'd be here by now.3 points

Don't know about income opportunity. But I LOVE the idea. Doing something like this and making revenue secondary is what separates us from the rest in terms of integrity, dignity and class.3 points

This clamour over a player that hasnt played in 6 months is truly worrying , far too many think hes the same player that we had 5 years ago , hes far from it3 points

AN UNUSED car park at Ibrox stadium could be turned into a memorial garden by Rangers Football Club. The city football club have submitted plans to Glasgow City Council to build a memorial wall which would contain a section for the interment of the mortal ashes of Rangers FC supporters. The club say that they want to turn an unused car park at Copland Road into a memorial garden which would have a wall, gates, fencing, public realm improvements and associated works. The memorial garden would operate 8am to 8pm daily if the plans are given the go-ahead. Drawings for the ambitious plans reveal that the club also want to have an Ibrox Disaster memorial within the garden. A total of 66 lives were lost and more than 200 people were injured during the 1971 Ibrox disaster which was a crush among the crowd at an Old Firm game. The plans also show there will be an interactive pod with an Android tablet and charging points for smartphone devices. A decision for the plans is expected in March. http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/15824672.Rangers_submit_ambitious_plans_to_turn_unused_car_park_into_memorial_garden_at_Ibrox_Stadium/2 points

Great idea and long overdue, however i don't think it should have any player images. It's in remembrance of our lost brethren and should solely concentrate on them.2 points

The Herald are running with this story. The Journo involved is their Online Editor, Stacey Mullen. Readers comments have been disabled on the article after the usual Yahoos lost their individual and collective discipline, posting the usual vile comments. Surely, the Herald know Mullen's background? A dozen years past, she style herself as, 'Showbiz Stacey' and invited fellow Tims to keep her updated on Sellik supporting celebs. Her social media pages were full of images and homages to the IRA. Her common currency on Rangers and Rangers supporters was a constant H term reference. Stacey is bestest friends with Jane Hamilton. Similarly, Jane refers to Bears by the H term and publishes stories of Rangers supporters throwing their children in front of Police vehicles to deny them responding to incidents at Hampden after the Rangers/Hibs Scottish Cup final. Why does the Herald allow Stacey Mullen to handle such a sensitive story reference Ibrox and Rangers supporters?2 points

This wont help it at all. The ones already making the noise (while standing all game) in BF1 are the same ones who will be making the noise in this new standing section. I dont see how BF1 being turned into safe standing (for example) makes them sing any louder or get the boring old farts (like myself) who sit elsewhere in the ground in virtual silence to all of a sudden start singing. If Club 1872 are even the slightest bit inclined to part with actual cash to help pay for this nonsense it will be a massive disappointment. Even going so far as to put this to a member vote will show a degree of incompetence I would have thought they were much better than. The atmosphere is affected directly by the quality of the football on the park, the opponent, and the number of young supporters we have in attendance. By all means do something to encourage more teenagers to come along, which revolves around football on show, transport, and ticket price/availability, not safe standing.2 points

I honestly don’t know why this is being done by Club 1872 and the Union Bears. This should be coming from the Club and all ST holders consulted IMHO.2 points

Much as though I would like to see Naismith back at Ibrox.... I think it would be a terrible thing for the Board to go over the heads of Murty & Allen. The Board are there to run the Club administratively. Murty & Allen are there to run the footballing operation. Would be a very poor decision for the Board to get involved in the one aspect of the club they haven't any experience of.2 points

Naismith would improve our starting XI without a shadow of doubt. He also has the desire that many players lack and is a winner. If we were getting him playing for next to nothing then why wouldn't we ? Are we forgetting that our squad isn't exactly deep ? To get someone of Naismith's ability for zero transfer fee, and virtually no wages, is a no-brainer. What would he be costing us ? Nothing. And if he proves his fitness then we would be getting a quality player for free - an absolute steal. Naismith or Herrera..... Naismith blows Herrera away every day of the week. Naismith would enhance our squad AND our team and for peanuts - given our financial situation one would think it would be a simple decision... at least in my mind.2 points

When i say that I'm worried, I don't actually mean that I'm worried and I'm inclined to evaluate the state of the squad at the end of the window rather than fixate on any one signing. What I will say though is, if he does go to another SPFL team and he does give us a sore one or two, I think we will look very silly for not signing him. We are making assumptions that he is past it, but for a free hit till the end of the season, I don't think it would be a gamble to see how he goes. One of the things that may go against him though is the number of loan signings. Am I right in saying we can only have 4 at any one time? If so, with Dalcio, Goss, and Murphy already on the books; and with Russell Martin being lined up as a potential loan signing should one or more of the likes of Alves and Cardoso move on, we wont have the option to bring him in on loan and its possibly a moot point. And to be honest, if Alves or Cardoso did move on, that would be the priority position to reinforce.2 points

Well you missed another pantomime on the streets of the East End - this one had more ugly sisters / aunties / maws, more people with strange interest in children and a lot more creative acting.2 points

You reckon? As rbr has just said it's not the Naismith that walked five years ago. He's hardly played for at least 6 months. Hearts are welcome to him2 points

Our team in both halves was hardly littered was seasoned pro's. The players need credit. They went to a climate which is the polar opposite of ours, aclimatised and won. Good effort.2 points

I have been in the Dortmund standing area and I can assure you it does bring a lot of atmosphere into the stadium there. It is not for me as I am small and have to jump about to see the game but I think we should have it for the people who want to stand and sing. I am sure that there will be far more than the Union Bears take up the offer. I think it will be easily filled.1 point

The commentator kept saying it was Foderingham that came on in goal. I kept shouting at him that it was Kelly but just like the wife he never listened to me.1 point

You are dead set against it, TB Fair enough. However, I hope you are very disappointed and it is implemented ASAP.1 point

Dalcio is dross, no matter how anyone tries to dress it up. Last night he barely looked like a footballer - to be fair to the lad, as I originally said, he is no full back. But he was awful last night. He has only had fleeting appearances admittedly... but he is finding himself in the Company of Capucho, Ostenstad, Jeffers etc.... rather than Baxter, Greig, Cooper, Gascoigne & Laudrup.... that tells its own story If he has played any worse than that in ANY jersey.... then he should find a new career1 point

It shouldn't be getting done at all. A complete waste of money. When there is so much to do at our club, including the stadium, this is a total red herring that should be so far down the list as to never see the light of day.1 point

The rumour is that the Board are keen to bring him back, but Murty and Allen are not. Similarly, Pedro was not. The interesting aspect will be whether the Board decide that they wish to impose a signing upon Murty/Allen.1 point

You have way more faith in the decision makers at Rangers than I do. Nothing I've witnessed recently has given me any reason to think they've the first idea what they're doing.1 point

Yes, fair enough. If all the assumptions are correct, then he would be a very good signing. I'm just sceptical.1 point

“I maybe have a point to prove to some people, but I don’t think that in this league there’s any point there to prove for me." Sorry Michael, you are only as good as your last game. And establishing yourself as a decent performer in a poor league, is not the same as establishing yourself as a decent performer for us. I know that these interviews are an exercise in generic platitudes, so I really hope that you didn't actually think you had made it. When Kevin Thomson said to Walter when asked how he felt his first few months ago, when he said 'aye alright' (or similar) - he was quickly told in no uncertain terms that 'awright was not fucking good enough'. Unless O'Halleron is able to adapt his game and his mindset quickly, he will fade back to being a decent SPFL performer with someone else. And reading between the lines, I think he knows that is likely to be the case.1 point

Naismith was a great player for us in the past but clearly seems to be past his best now. For free perhaps he'd be a clever signing until the end of the season but as much as I'd fancy most will forgive him for his 2012 actions, many will not so I don't see the point of making a temporary loan signing which will divide supporters (and perhaps even the dressing room). We've signed Murphy and are, IMO, likely to sign Docherty and hopefully Jones. If we can also add Cummings then it will have been a very good window so we don't need Naismith.1 point

We cannot let Naisy sign for another Scottish club, it will come back to haunt us.1 point
