  1. Some very interesting appointments there. You only need to listen to KT speak to hear his passion about the club so it can only be a good thing he's involved.

  3. Kevin Thomson had a meeting in Walter Smiths office 5/6 months in to his Rangers career... Walter:”How do you think you’ve been doing?” KT: “Aye I think I’ve been doing alright, I’m enjoying it” Walter:”Son, see doing alright? Its no fuckin good enough”

  7. It seems like the anti-Rangers brigade in the media takes the opportunity of the break in play to publish all sorts of rubbish on a nigh daily basis now. In the very least, the club should take note of it and simply ban these publications from any access to Rangers. Full stop. I do wonder whether amongst the e.g. members / shareholders in Club1872 there is no decent and/or willing lawyer to challenge the media with such bile, as it clearly damages the club's reputation and thus goes straight against the shareholders' interests.

  8. The most off-putting part of the new forum is the fact that Frankie has changed his avatar. It's just not right. Bring back the old one and all will be well in the world!

  13. KT is every bit as competitive in retirement. He has a HUGE desire to be the best coach possible. That commitment and desire is something that will hopefully rub off on the playing personnel, both at Academy level AND senior level.

  16. Nepotism, cronyism, whatever..... Kevin Thomson cozies up to This Man Craig, and 'Presto!' he has a job at Auchenhowie. Do they think that we are fools?

  17. These are excellent moves by the club. Maybe those people who have been quick to criticise the board will step back and perhaps contemplate a quote from Hamlet - "There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." The future is looking brighter.

  18. Some will no doubt be suggesting that recent coaching recruitments are "jobs for the boys" as has been suggested in the past. However, if you look at the appointments of Vignal, Lovenkrands and Thomson they all have their coaching badges. Not sure about Vignal but Lovenkrands and Thomson both have their A licences which actually makes them more qualified than the vast majority of coaches within the Academy of both us AND Celtic. Seems to me that the Club are, rightly, starting to follow the Spanish route whereby the best, most qualified coaches (A license and pro license) are the ones entrusted to develop the children - the vast majority of A license coaches in Spain coach the kids whereas in the UK the vast majority of A license coaches actually coach the adults which, in my opinion, is virtually pointless - too late by that point in time to "teach old dogs new tricks". Get the best coaches teaching the kids the proper techniques and develop them into how to understand the game and do the basics perfectly.

  19. All of that to basically admit that the statistics suggest we aren't consistent enough to go on the run of results we would all like to see. The statistics suggest we cannot go on that extended run. The personnel within our squad would suggest that, playing Celtic aside, we could indeed go on an extended run. And therein lies the problem - successive managers have clearly failed to get the best out of the players at their disposal. Needs to change.

  20. Me too mate. the bonus for me personally is that my son still gets to continue his sessions with KT’s own academy - none of my kid’s sessions will be affected. win-win for me personally. And definitely a win for the club. KT is very ambitious, won’t surprise me to see him climbing the ladder within the club fairly swiftly.

  22. Sorry guys, I didnt know Kenny Mac was a bear. My sincere apologies to him, but given the company he is keeping its an easy mistake to make. I looked at who he works for and made an assumption, coupled with the tone and timing of the article. Are there actually 2 Rangers leaning journos at BBC celtic, Kenny and Richard Wilson? Who'da funkit? Funny how they rarely try to write anything positive about the club to balance out all the negative stuff that comes out of there.

  23. It's all ifs and buts at the moment. Potentially, we have a decent side who are well capable of finishing 2nd comfortably. But the 1st half of the season suggests we'll struggle to do that.

  27. Oddschecker are trying to generate business. The quotes from the sun story are from oddschecker spokesman George Elek, who also happens to be a journalist,.. so you can see where this one is going. You take a load of incredibly thick and gullible punters , tell them something that they want to believe is true, and hey presto !.., job done.

  28. But they are making up false stories about problems that don’t exist. And these are affecting the perception of the club. Which in turn is becoming a real problem.

  29. This is opportunism, in that yahoos see a complicated and difficult situation for Rangers/Dave King and are looking to squeeze as much out of it as they can. The blogging angle is about pushing their own name forward, alongside their donations button. The only way to really effectivelly put this type of thing to bed is to sort out our problems.

  30. As for the BBC I think Rangers should try and get it sorted by trying to get discussions with people higher up at the BBC. This is not going to be sorted in Scotland.

  31. I think this is different buster. This is an attack designed so the board cannot take the club further. Another hurdle in the road This attack which I'll Phil a so called journalist is pushing. This has already changed the landscape of the Murphy deal. I don't know what the club can do about it and I am not sure an open statement is the answer, but it is certainly not something to keep taking on the chin.

  32. Redtops in social media (now includes all press outlets in Scotland) are all about looking for clickbait and anything to do with us will often be the busiest pages on their site. Yahoos will probably bypass stories on their own club and prioritise clicking on the latest Rangers news, with many leaving a trail of predictable comments . They aren't going to stop anytime soon and our board need to be concentrating on taking the club forward, not getting into a shouting match with that lot. Especially when our statements have a tendency of adding fuel to X or Y.

  34. A contribution to the debate on the power of internet paranoia.https://www.followfollow.com/forum/threads/the-club’s-not-going-into-administration-rumours-of-administration-and-the-power-of-paranoia.15511/The club’s not going into administration - Rumours of administration and the power of paranoiaThe club’s not going into administration despite internet gossip and text messages. The club’s debt free, investors have put in millions and between the club board, football board, senior management and the Three Bears we’ve got more chartered accountants involved in the oversight and ownership of the club than you can shake a stick at.The latest wave of rumour has resulted in a couple of bookies suspending the market in Rangers going into admin - great publicity for the website that broke the story but it still doesn’t have the credibility of being in touch with reality. You want the club to deny the story? Well, they’ll have to issue statements every day of the week and provide the media with that old staple “the denial story” which can be used to justify any nonsense they choose to print - for instance, ‘Rangers today denied Dave King is an axe murderer.’ The current rumours are stoked by a text which claims that a director told his mate that not only was the club going into administration, but the date of administration, the points deduction, that the club would still stay in the league and that it was all being done to get rid of Dave King. Really?A director is going to give all that sort of info - and how could he know exactly how the governing bodies would react? - to a mate who helpfully puts it into a text that circulates around the internet?More peculiarly the text just happens to be exactly like other texts and emails which have surfaced every couple of months since the good guys won control of the club back in March 2015. Uncanny!Apply common sense and caution. If the board want rid of Dave King they just vote him out - he might be the biggest shareholder but he’s got nothing like a majority of shares. People who have fought Green, the Easdales and Mike Ashley to a standstill and then victory are going to put it all at risk by going into voluntary administration? Have a look at the accounts - after all the woes the club has been through in the last five years they are as clean as a whistle. If you extrapolate forward how much it will take to run the club in the next few years then it’s clearly manageable.Leave the hysteria to Timothy and his allies

  42. Like many, I don't know what position he plays in. However, I'm really happy for him that he's back. He might not be the most talented, but he certainly is one of the most committed. Especially at Ibrox, we are seriously lacking in commitment, Ross McCrorie aside. I'm looking forward to seeing him back in action.

  43. I don't understand the hostility to Halliday, he did really well for us in his first season and then struggled last season. The same can be levelled at Holt, Danny Wilson and Tavernier all of who have found a bit of form recently. The club was in turmoil for at least half of last season and when Pedro joined he clearly didn't fancy him, any player would struggle to find their best form with that going on. With Dorrans out for a few months, Kranjcar looking like a bench player at best and Jack now also injured an experienced midfielder sounds like a decent addition to the squad. Halliday offer more if played in an advanced midfield position with McCrorie sitting. He's not a natural deep midfielder.
