  2. ... BTW, Whyte was chased by HMRC before he set a foot back into Scotland's world of football. He should not have been able to do anything business-wise, yet, HMRC did nothing, even when he bought us. Ex-Rangers owner Craig Whyte was being chased by the taxman for £3.74m BEFORE he started his catastrophic reign at Ibrox HMRC had instructed debt enforcers to chase Whyte with a bill for almost £4million and threaten him with bankruptcy in May 2011 - the same month that he bought Rangers. Keith Jackson 07:30, 05 Aug 2014 Updated 07:39, 05 Aug 2014 THE taxman was chasing Craig Whyte for £3.7million before he took over Rangers. HMRC focused on Whyte’s personal finances and made several failed attempts to get him to pay his dues before, during and after his catastrophic reign at Ibrox. The taxman regarded Whyte as a “flight risk”, fearing he might flee the country without settling his huge tax bill. Documents seen by the Record show: * The authorities instructed debt enforcers to chase Whyte with a bill for almost £4million and threaten him with bankruptcy in May 2011, the same month that he bought Rangers. * It was the culmination of a probe begun the previous year when the taxman learned Whyte had returned to the UK in 2005. * Whyte was continually warned he was failing to submit satisfactory tax returns and risked being fined. * He actually claimed at one stage to have a UK taxable worth of just £24 in accrued bank interest. * Yet when he struck the notorious deal with Ticketus for funds to finance his Rangers takeover, he gave the firm a personal guarantee he was worth nearly £33million. This “guarantee”, which was obtained by HMRC, helped them calculate Whyte’s £3,741,835.29 tax bill but he continued stalling tactics to avoid coughing up. At the same time he was able to run up a further £15million in unpaid taxes and penalties during his nine months in charge of Rangers. Whyte had bought Rangers for £1 from Sir David Murray in May 2011, while agreeing to wipe out the club’s £18million debts. ... From the DR back then. (just for reference)
  3. The Board didn’t. The players did to the extent that anyone watching the team could see that the players did not have what it takes to be Champions, namely confidence, consistency and resolve. After the Autumn most observers could see that they were going to be second. That is not conditioning. That’s coming to a logical conclusion. Nobody bought anything. It’s not good to be second best but it’s better than third.
  4. Booooo.
  5. Need a huge clear out. Ferguson said it very clearly. These players don't give a fuck, expect when they know there will be more eyes on them, i.e Europe etc. Get them all gone rapid, whole thing needs rejigged.
  6. Today
  7. The vast majority of our players couldn't be bothered. No effort from them. Don't get me wrong the tactics were bad but surely the players can do the basics.
  8. Palace run out easy and deserved winners.
  9. Hopefully "Big Soapy" will be nowhere near the 1st team, nevermind the vice captaincy - guys a liability.
  10. We're worse because of who we appointed. However, with hindsight, given the impending takeover, we were never going to appoint a permanent manager to replace Clement. Doesn't mean Clement shouldn't have been sacked. Our away form was horrendous and we'd been knocked out the Scottish Cup by Queens Park. That result alone should have seen him sacked. Just like under Beale, there were warning signs in pre-season of how bad this season was going to turn out. We then drew our 1st league game away to a Hearts team that went months without a victory (at one point we were the only team not to score against them). We then lost in the CL qualifiers and whilst we can point to Jefte's red card, if we are honest with ourselves, we never looked like qualifying. Most fans chose to ignore the red flags and even when we got worse, most were still championing a manager who was clearly losing the plot and clearly unable to come up with a style of play to beat SPL teams. In summary he should have been sacked long before he was but once again our board dithered and showed again, when it comes to football matters, they are out their depth.
  11. If Raskin is still with us next season he MUST be made captain and big Soapy yice-captain IMO.
  12. Oooh yay, how shite.
  13. We don’t have many games left just tell Barry the ned to fuck off let the kit man pick the team couldn’t be any worse than the present bunch of mugs
  14. Wrexham promoted to the Championship next season. Three promotions on the bounce.
  15. Agreed Cammy, but to take a huff and sack him without a replacement was dumb. No one can deny we are worse now than ever.
  16. The on-field captain today looked as though it was Raskin rather than Tavernier. It looked as though the former was the only one playing for the jersey. Lots of basic errors from many players today suggest we need to upgrade in numerous positions.
  17. I think under SG and Gio to an extent we showed that modern day footballers can be fit, strong and relentless. As an example we defeated Celtic in extra-time straight after playing extra-time in an Europen game. Then defeated Hearts after extra-time in the final. The invincible 55 title win where we simply blew teams away. So much so, the odd draw seemed like a defeat. The players were mentally and physically fit, played a system that worked against Celtic and also against the rest of the league. We are a shadow of that team / squad.
